80's Music

Recommended Posts

Guest Incandenza

Well, if you're talking about 80s music of the Velveeta variety, it's either "Seperate Ways" by Journey, or Night Ranger's "Sister Christian." Outside of that, I can't be bothered to pick just one, but I'm sure it was either performed by Elvis Costello or the Smiths.

Whats ever on the GTA: Vice City soundtrack is good enough, besides i don't want to list all the great hair-metal bands songs anyways, or Kinetic will go ape-shit on me with the Def Leppard and Motley Crue.

Too many to name. I cut my musical teeth on the mid-to-late 80s New Wave/Modern Rock movement, especially the more obscure (to the US) bands like Icicle Works, Depeche Mode, OMD, Smiths, Joy Division/New Order, B-52s, Modern English, Howard Jones, XTC, and even more established bands like the Go-Gos, U2 and Devo who had many more great songs other than what they played on the radio. If it wasn't for Long Island's WDRE, I probably would have ended up listening to crap like Bon Jovi.

Ya Haircut 100 were ahead of their time. A multi-cultural band with diverse musical influences led by a lanky white guy. Hmmm, if only they were around 10 years later, they would have struck gold...

The 80s kicked ass. I'd go with:

Flipper-Sex Bomb(the greatest song ever recorded)

Replacements-I Will Dare

Misfits-Night of the Living Dead, Where Eagles Dare

Fugazi-Waiting Room(originally released in 80s)

Slayer-Raining Blood

Metallica-Disposable Heroes

Minutemen-Anchor

Ramones-I Wanna Be Sedated

Huskur Du-Pink Turns to Blue

there's really too many to name, a great decade for punk and metal.

I'd better exercise some restraint in this topic... I'll just name a few of my favorite groups that I haven't seen mention of yet...

Bauhaus

Foetus

Alien Sex Fiend

My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult

Sex Gang Children

Siouxsie and the Banshees
