Guest res37618 Report post Posted December 21, 2002 Wanted to see if anyone has heard or seen "rumors" about WWE issuing a WrestleMania DVD Box Set . . I've got the VHS set, and while it's cool having them all that way, they're taped in crappy EP format and kinda fuzzy/grainy. I think a DVD set of all the 'Mania's would rock and sell very well, but I wonder if they'll do it and how ridiculously priced it will be. Any thoughts? Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted December 21, 2002 I haven't heard of anything, but I am truly shocked that there isn't one out. I've had the VHS set forever and have been wondering when the DVD version is coming out. They would likely make tons of money.

Personally, I would play it smart and put at least two WrestleMania's per DVD. Like...the first DVD would be WM1 and 2...next would be 3 and 4...and so on, ending with 13 and 14. 15, 16, 17, and 18 are already on DVD, so they wouldn't need to be DVD-ized. Course, I'd also wish they'd do that with the other PPVs...like Royal Rumble, Summerslam, and Survivor Series.
Guest res37618 Report post Posted December 21, 2002 Agreed - hell, I don't even care if it's "fancy" with a bunch of extra stuff, just all of them, each one on DVD in it's origina PPV format, much like the VHS box set is . . . I think it would rule.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2002 Well...for extra stuff...maybe SOME Extras... Like...for WM1, have "War to Settle the Score" on it as well, as it was the "build up" event for WrestleMania.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2002 Though, they probably won't release the old WM's on DVD. THey'd have to blur out the old Attitude WWF logo.
Guest res37618 Report post Posted December 21, 2002 True enough . . . Speaking of which, has this Wildlife Fund thing affected their marketing of stuff like that? I'm assuming as long as the outside packaging doesn't say WWF on it, then they can't say anything. I've heard that on episodes of WWF Classics overseas, they have to blur out the logo all the time. And in one of the Retro RAW moments, they blurred out the WWF logo on the microphone. A DVD set of Manias would be cool, IF they didn't have to go through the crap of blurring out anything with the WWF logo on it, that would suck ass.

I still see WWF logos on Videos and DVDs whenever I go to Sam Goody. And from what I can tell, they can still release things with the Block Version WWF Logo Never have seen that one blurred out. Guest ISportsFan Report post Posted December 21, 2002 They just couldn't release the stuff in the UK, I believe. They can do the box set Region 1 only, and it should be legal. Jason

The block-style logo has clearly been seen at a huge size in the Raw Retro and Anthology commercial. I don't understand why that's kosher by the chicken-stratchy logo isn't. *shrug*
Guest Michael Joel Benoit Report post Posted December 21, 2002 Personally, I didn't like the fact that the WWF Attitude scratch logo was placed on the corner of every single Wrestlemania in the boxset version even though there was no logo in the corner for Wrestlemania's I-IX and the block logo was used for Wrestlemania's X-XIII. It would actually be easier for them to release Wrestlemania's I-X as there would be no need for logo blurring in the corner. If the WWE were to release Wrestlemania on DVD, I would want the DVD's to feature every little thing from the original airings of each Wrestlemania. Every interview, every sketch, every commercial. Uncut (this comes from the WWE cutting out the Piper's Pit segment in its entirety from Wrestlemania V.) The extras could be little video packages on each and every match-up and what led to them. Also, dedicate a special section to those who have participated in a Wrestlemania and have died. How about a section dedicated to commercials hyping each Wrestlemania along with the posters hyping each event. If they can release the entire event uncut, and those extras I've mentioned, that'd be my perfect Wrestlemania DVD. And they can do the same with Royal Rumble, King of the Ring, Summerslam, and Survivor Series.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2002 That reminds me... Anyone know why they decided to start putting the logo in the corner of the screen around late 1993/early 1994?
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted December 21, 2002 Personally, I would play it smart and put at least two WrestleMania's per DVD. Dude. They squashed WM2000 on one DVD. The quality is complete crap compared to X8 and X7, which stretch out over two discs.

The Dames 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2002 Yeah.....watch HHH's entrance on the WM 2000 DVD and you'll literally see him become pixilated completely. Dames
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted December 21, 2002 I think their DVD department is just kinda bad, either that or the extras kill things. Because X8 is on two DVDs as well but watching an NWO entrance or any of the parts of Hogan/Rock where flashbulbs are going off like crazy shows artifacts everywhere. And that's, what, 90 minutes each disc? Hollywood releases can do much better quality with that.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted December 21, 2002 I have the VHS box set (Wrestlemania I-XV), and there is no Attitude in the corner logo up until XIV (X-XIII have the old logo, and before X have nothing), nor is Piper's Pit cut.

Guest The Superstar Report post Posted December 21, 2002 If they're not going to release the entire collection on DVD, they should AT LEAST release "best of" DVDs for major events, and even IYHs. Although I'm not talking about the crap VHS -> DVD "Best of Wrestlemania 1-14" and "Best of Survivor Series 87-97", which were horrible. I mean showing the, maybe 25 best matches from the entire history of the PPV completely, with extras including commentary from the participants (where applicable) and video packages, etc.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted December 21, 2002 I would say it would only be worth it if they didnt clip the matches and left it exactly like it aired.. I cant imagine what a 14 DVD set would cost if the 14 tape set cost (Still..) $149.
