Guest Mole Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 Remember last year, WWE had the best of 2001 during New Year's Eve. There were tons of matches that could of made the top ten, making it a very rememberable year. This year, I can't even think of ten top matches. Well I can, but they are all with the same people, and it would be sad to see a show with 10 matches all having the Smackdown 6. My point is that the WWE has gone down the tubes in this sorta way. I just hope 2003 won't be the same.
Guest caboose Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 The only matches that come to mind are... ::tumbleweed rolls by::
Guest art_vandelay Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 That's not true. There were a lot of good matches this year, at least almost as many as there were in the last. If I cared enough about this to make a list, I would. Plus, last year's list wasn't all that impressive either, I mean, Stacy vs. Torrie? Survivor Series 10-man?
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I could think of maybe six matches worth revisiting.
Guest ManKinnd Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 What do you think the WWF will praise as their number 1 match this year? Methinks HHH vs. HBK from Summerslam.
Guest jester Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 For sure HHH/HBK will be all over that show. Probably starting with the while Sherlock HHHolmes shit.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 They were hyping Rock/Hogan as a match for next week, so expect to see the best sucky match ever.
Guest Big Poppa Popick Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 rock v. hogan nuff said
Guest Mattdotcom Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 And hey, God help me, but I'm kinda looking forward to seeing it again.

Hey, Stacy vs. Torrie was only the second worst match that night!
Guest bob_barron Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 OMG AS!!! Of the 12,321 jokes you've told about Test v. Kane that ranks 8,642. You hated that match- WE GET IT ALREADY
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 Wait.......hold on. AS hates Test vs Kane? *slaps both hands across cheeks and makes mouth into an "O". I HAD NO CLUE!
Guest jester Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I hope we see the Hogan motorcycle incident and Kevin Nash's three second comeback.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 Rock/Hogan - WrestleMania HHH/HBK - SummerSlam God's Team/619-416 - Survivor Series Rock/Brock - SummerSlam Jericho/Rock - Royal Rumble Brock/Taker HIAC - No Mercy God's Team/Los Guerreros - SmackDown Tag Tournament Semi-Finals Benoit-Guerrero/Rock-Edge - SmackDown RVD/Guerrero Ladder Match - RAW Rock/HHH - RAW Line of the Year: "I'm gonna lay the SmackDown on his cripple ass, nWo style!"
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 Talk about Sad. The First Raw of this Year ended with Triple H posing in the Ring. The Last Raw of this Year ended with Jim Ross posing in the Ring.
The Dames Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 I actually have the "Best of 2001" special on DVD, a Canadian exclusive that Bob Barron picked up for me. It's nice to have, despite the fact that 9 of the 10 matches I already had on their respective PPV DVD's. The one match that I was missing was the Quad Tearing Match between Triple H/Austin & Benoit/Jericho for the Tag Titles. It also comes with other 2001 highlights, which includes a lot of Alliance Austin stuff which always brings a smile to my face. Dames
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 This thread needs to give more love to the Rock/Taker/Angle match from Vengeance. Sure, it ended the way 90% of the triple threats do (with the champ totally being excluded from the winning pin), but the sight of those guys all hitting their various finishers on each other is crazy. Angle giving out Rock Bottoms, Undertaker giving out Olympic Slams, etc. It was just wild.

Guest TheArchiteck Posted December 24, 2002 Report Posted December 24, 2002 Booker and Jericho...singles or tag...one of those matches should be on there.

Picked it up for 15 yo-yos in Forbidden Planet in Dublin's city centre. P.S. The orange packaging rules it!!
Guest HartFan86 Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 Rock giving the Undertaker a chokeslam was the most fucked up thing I probably saw all summer.

Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 The HHH/Austin No Way Out match is on the Austin DVD, but the PPV never was released on DVD sadly...
Guest Dangerous A Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 The HHH/Austin No Way Out match is on the Austin DVD, but the PPV never was released on DVD sadly... Agreed, APO. That PPV was right up there with WM 17 for ppv of the year. It had Austin/HHH and a killer Rock/Angle match, a kick ass 4 way for the IC title, plus Steph's one and only good match. Too bad it didn't make DVD.

Actually, when I was at FYE the other day, I could of sworn I saw NWO 2001 on DVD. I was about to buy it, but I have it on tape. Is that the one with Angle on the cover? Wait, there is a best of WWF 2001 on DVD? Only in Canada? Can I get it online though???
Guest Banky Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 Does the best of 2001 DVD have full matches? I thought it didn't.
Guest razazteca Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 you can't have a Raw show without RVD as the opening act, so for a change of pace I suggest: RVD vs Eddie Guerrero ladder match.
Guest EternallyLazy Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 I still haven't forgiven WWE for not putting the Benoit/Angle RAW cage match on the 2001 special. The fact that the women's gravy bowl match was put over Angle and his fucking awesome moonsault from the top of the cage really really pisses me off
Guest bob_barron Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 The fans didn't vote for it. Simple as that. Rock v. Angle NWO is on the Rock DVD which is good cause I now I have the top two matches in DVD quality. Steph v. Trish is on one of the Divas DVD BTW. Rock v. Angle v. Taker was pretty awesome and is also on the SE Rock DVD. It drags a little bit but it is pretty awesome with great drama and you really don't know whose gonna win until the end. Great stuff
The Dames Posted December 25, 2002 Report Posted December 25, 2002 The one with Angle on the cover is NWO 2000. No, there is no No Way Out 2001 DVD, that's one I'd love to have, but I have the match already on the WHAT? DVD. Yes, the matches are clipped. Dames
