Any body with a favorite song? album? concert? story?

 

In my opinion the best band of the 90s, with a few obvious pick-em conteders to that throne.

 

I just watched the new DVD, Vieuphoria, twice...anybody else check this out. New version or old? It definitly kicks ass!!

My favorite Smashing Pumpkins album is definitely Siamese Dream. Everything beyond that is incredibly pretentious, though some of it is not without its charms. No favorite song, though, really. I had a girlfriend who went to see them in Italy during the Machina tour and, as she was dancing and flailing about, an Italian guy reached right between her legs and grabbed her crotch. No reason, and I'm told that he never called her back.

Interesting story, but sometimes I wonder if you lie for a laugh.

 

I'm not exactly a fan, but I do admit that Mellon Collie was at least decent-good, Adore was pretty good, and Siamese Dream was fantastic, if nothing else. It truly is a great album, and rarely has a weak moment. My personal favourite song is probably the "syrupy-sweet" Mayonnaise, but I still dig that track regardless.

I kid you not. This is the same ethnic group that would casually offer any girl seen walking down the street money for her services, so it isn't surprising. Just reached right between her legs and grabbed her crotch for no reason. I was furious. Not so much because he grabbed her, but because he stole my routine.

Every so often I hear a song by Smashing Pumpkins on the radio, and I'll think to myself, "Damn, I have to listen to some Smashing Pumpkins." Then I listen and I find that I'm not impressed with anything they've done beyond their singles. Kinda like David Bowie in that regard.

 

I remember seeing several ads for jeans in Italy that centered around men walking around and casually grabbing women's asses. Kinda cool.

Well, if you don't mind me asking, why was she in Italy in the first place?

Both of our fathers are in the military and were stationed in Naples. That's where we met and that's where we dated. That was also the site of her ultimate betrayal of me with a Boy Scout shortly after I moved.

fav album was gish (and a lot of the stuff on Aeroplane)

 

they were great live (saw the 4 times)

Siamese Dream is one of the all time great albums released within my lifetime. I have a soft spot for their achey breaky stuff like "Mayonniase" and "Luna". But that whole CD is solid, and even the "filler" stuff like "Spaceboy" or "Sweet Sweet" would be centerpieces on 95% of anything else released in the 90's.

 

I think Mellon Collie would have been so much better if they have just released a single CD with only their best material, but the magic and aura of Siamese would still have been missing...

 

Did Vig produce Mellon Collie?
