Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted December 30, 2002 It is sad to see the final player that was currently part of the Joe Gibbs era, to leave the Redskins. It was his time to go, but still, for me I have never watched a Redskins game(besides old footage from before I was born)where Green was not on the roster. He is a class act. He turned down more money numerous times to remain with tradition on the Skins. That kind of player and era is almost completely eradicated from NFL and all of sports for that matter. He is surely gonna be missed....
Guest Choken One Report post Posted December 30, 2002 A absolute class act to say none the least. Unfourtantly, he won't be remembered outside Washington by America in 7 years but For those whom respect tradition and class, Darrell Green symbolized what we as American's wish to see in our Football players. May his retirement be peaceful and let's hope he can stay in the game in some capacity.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted December 30, 2002 You've gotta respect the man for all he's done for as long as he's done it. As an Eagles fan, that guy used to give me migrane headaches in the 1990s. Have a peaceful retirement Darrell, you deserve it!
Guest DrTom Report post Posted December 30, 2002 It's a fucking shame Spurrier didn't let him start the whole game. He started the first play at CB, then came out of the game, returning only in nickel packages. Yeah, the fans really paid to see Fred Fucking Smoot play CB. Methinks the Ball Coach needs to get a clue.

WAKE UP STEVE, your team has 7 wins, you're not playing in January...give the fans what they want. Spurrier had to swallow his pride just by starting Green at all. EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2002 Two titles, perennial pro bowler, I mean, he can BURN THE HELL outta most people today...and he's 42!!! As a Redskin fan, I'm happy for him. He's the greatest DB of all time in my opinion. He will surely be missed. And it was ALL 20 years for the Skins. So there you go.

Ermmm, Spurrier said two weeks ago Darrell Green was starting because THE FANS WANTED IT. It had nothing to do with pride. Spurrier knew the game was meaningless as far as any chance of postseason was concerned. Besides finally beating Dallas, the games was meaningless. Not to the Skins fans though, whoooo~! Oh and, Jimmy Johnson was 1-15 after his first year with the cowboys, and Spurrier was 7-9 after his first year with the skins. So, ENOUGH about, "college coach this, college coach that"
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted December 31, 2002 As a Redskins fan, I too am sad to see him go. I am with Dr.Tom in that Darrell should've started the game and played more than just nickel package. He should've also been the primary punt returner on most, if not all the punts. When they ran that reverse play yesterday I marked like a motherfucker. 20 years of service to the same team. That is loyalty. In this day and age of free agency you will NEVER see another guy go for that long with the same team. God bless Darrell Green!!!!!!! You were one of the greats.
