I am not a fan of wrestling because of the word Entertainment or Ferderation. It is all the same. Deal with it, because if you can't, then your aren't a true fan.If half of the fans across the country can accept it, then you should too.

I'd consider myself a hardcore wrestling fan, and one of the more positive ones at that. However, I still believe that the one little letter made a big difference... World Wrestling Entertainment. What the hell is that? It's like basically ditching the whole idea of suspension of disbelief by saying, "we're only here to entertain you, so don't take this seriously."

Personally, despite the pyro and lighting and video packages and everything else, I'd rather watch a well-booked indy show than WWE these days simply because there's too much "entertainment" and no damn wrestling. And with the official company name change, they seem to think they can start venturing into other forms of media that will no doubt prove disastrous.

Blame who you will about the current plight of the company... but as much as I like his character, Eric Bischoff the producer ruined modern big-time wrestling. He turned it into a TV show, the "male soap opera", instead of the quasi-sports event it used to be. And Kevin Dunn ripped him off. And now everyone thinks it's the way it should be.

Maybe my point is lost here somewhere, but Anglesault, stubborn bastard that he may be, is right. WWE is lame, and should not be acknowledged. WWF has a long and colorful, and if I may say, amazing history.

The fact that they have to blur all their own logos, censor their own speech, and the very fact that they never even explained the goddamn issue on one of their major shows just adding to the lameness.

Ok I'm rambling..... enough.

And one hell of a ramble it was, good fucking job.

The blurring out of the "WWF" logo was REALLY obnoxious to look at. I know that they are required to do it by the terms of the court ruling, but wow, that just looks BAD.

Honestly, I think blurring the old logo out draws more attention to it. The casual viewer becomes curious to know "What won't they let us see there???" (as was the case with people I saw the show with tonight). Simply leaving the WWF logo there and it would've been the visual equivalent of 'white noise.'

The only thing I would've done was put the new "WW" logo over the "WWF" graphic in the lower left of the screen (they did this with a slightly larger graphic that had a black outline). It really doesn't look intrusive, plus it takes out what is probably the most easily recognizable WWF graphic on the screen.

When I first saw the blurring tonight, I swear to God that I thought that everyone was wearing some sort of horribly offensive shirt. I felt like a moron when my cousin had to point out what it really was.

It seemed to me that the production team severely butchered the audio at during the Rock/Hogan match to make the crowd heat seem more objective than it really was. If I remember correctly, it was about 75/25 in Hogan's favor during the "staredown" at WM, yet while reviewing it tonight on the Raw telecast, the crowd heat was so jumbled together it came off looking like the crowd was split 50/50 which was totally NOT THE CASE at WM...

No excuse for having the UT/Hardy match on there when RVD/Eddy ladder match was 100x better.

I did a lot of fast forwarding and eye-rolling, but that is no different than the past 6 months of Raw tv. So maybe I just did the "best-of" eye rolling material tonight~!

I think Mania was very much 50/50, at least overall. I think there were moments throughout the match where 25% shifted for a minute or two. Even my friend (who was there) mentioned that it was pretty down the middle.

I turned it on about ten or fifteen minutes into the show, and saw Coah and Terri talking about UT or something...I had enough.

I just spent that chunk of time playing NHL 2K3, instead.

That is EXACTLY what I did to every little detail.

On the name thing - if your touchy over a move from Federation to Entertainment (not looking past the fact they were forced to re-name) then be grateful Wrestling is still in there.

I recall Linda McMahon a few years back answering a question over actual lack of wrestling on their shows (back in the days when there would be 27 mins of wrestling on RAW) and she would they would have liked to rename themselves to get away from wrestling (idiots!) but the brand WWF is so powerful and valuable to them they stick with it.

I skipped out last week, so I had to watch this week for the "quality time" with dad. I still went out after, so, meh, it worked out.

Rock/Hogan, at least from where I sat, was pure Hogan. I have never heard anything that loud and overpowering, and TV does it no justice. I'd say it was like 80-90% Hogan, 10-20% Rock. The boos Rock got when he did a move were huge.

It wasn't 50/50 till a few minutes left into the match.

Cause the crowd was still way into Hogan durring the belt whipping deal.

And I love how JR tries to save the Rock as a face durring that. "He's only doing what Hogan did, folks!" Over and over again. Split crowd my ass!

"We are only here to entertain you?" Well yes, they are only here to entertain us. Whether it be Angle wresling a **** match, or Jericho talking about Ass Cream, that is both entertainment. Entertainment means more than don't take us seriously. Hell, the media has never taken wrestling seriously. During the boom era, it got a little more credit, but it still wasn't taken seriously.

Eric Bischoff was the one who changed it to a "male soap opera"? Ah, no. It has been a "male soap opera" ever since the beginning of WWF on TV. Eric didn't do jack shit like that. If anyone is credited to "male soap opera" it's Vince Russo.

And most of all, WWF name will be missed. You can never replace it, and it never will be. However, we have to accept that it is gone. I think you are missing that point. WWE is here to stay. As lame as it is, deal with it. I have, and if you can't deal with it, then just watch ol' WWF tapes.

I watched Rock/Hogan, but that was it. I started watching with Edge/Eddie No-DQ, but once I saw it was a chopfest I just went back to playing Frequency. Turned PS2 off again just in time for Rock/Hogan.

I watched it all at a friend's house. He fell asleep after Hogan/Rock and I was off and on until the end of the TLC match.

I thought they did a shit job...they should of had more music videos and stuff.

Ok then, let me rephrase that...

Eric Bischoff deliberately buried the competition and exposed the business once Nash and Hall had defected, and paved the way for the soap-opera writing that Vince Russo would eventually bring to the WWF.

You see, while Bischoff didn't do "jack shit like that", (at least at the beginning), he was more worried about putting on a good television show than a good wrestling show. He made in-ring interviews acceptable TV-time filler, and made the shows more geared towards an audience at home rather than in the building.

That's why, in 1996-98 WCW seemed new and exciting, and the ratings went sky-high with it. When WWF finally improved upon a winning formula, people turned away from WCW.

And now the formula is stale. It's time for another shift.

Okay, that makes sense.

But you answered what everyone is complaining about. WWF is old, it is time to move on to WWE.

It was New Years Fuckin' Eve here in Australia and i was WAY too busy focusing on getting mindlessly intoxicated than concerning myself with a 'best of' show of RAW.

And from what i've heard, it had a little too much Mr. J Hardy for my liking.

He was in TWO matches. One match, there was 5 other men. He wasn't in it THAT much.

A hissy fit? I was just stating a fact. I mean, just because Hardy was in two matches shouldn't stop someone from watching the show. There were plenty of other matches on the show.

See, I don't understand this. All of us are wrestling fans, so why not watch the show? There was some ok stuff on there, some good stuff, and some great stuff. But it is still the 'Best of 2002'. Granted, not all the matches we wanted were on their, but it's still WWE at its best, well close to it.

I dunno, I'm gonna get flamed for this I bet, but not watching the show makes me think some of you aren't true wrestling fans.

Nevermind, I take my statement back.

I mean, I guess I see people's point for not watching the show. 2002 wasn't all that great, so why watch it.

And yes, I think of moles. Hell, I am the Mole. That is my nickname. Molestomp is a move, when I hit my stomp my head into people's back, so I'm the Mole, I stomp with my head, hence molestomp.

1) It's good to see you realize why we didn't watch it, or many of us that is. I've seen all of it in the first place, and really, I see no reason so EVER see Jeff Hardy/Taker in that horrid ladder match, ever again. I watched the Hogan/Rock, Angle/Mysterio, and other matches again, but I didn't care to see most of what was on that show again on Monday night.

2) I didn't mean for you to ACTUALLY explain yourself about moles man. Thanks though, I suppose.
