Top 25 SWF Superstars of the Year

(I was going to include a short commentary with this section on each of the 25 guys, but I'm too damn tired. If anyone wants to, feel free. Oh, by the way, some wrestlers may not be as high as people would expect them too because they weren't active for the entire year. Actually, nobody was active in the SWF for the ENTIRE year except for ELM and Thoth. Anyway, this rewards consistent hard work for the entire year of 2002.)

Damn that Erek Taylor, just barely beating me out. Thinks he's so damn good...I'll show him! I'LL SHOW YOU ALL!

But back to the real thing. NICE work, Pete. I really like this list thing that you compiled. I gotta agree with most of your stuff, although I feel that Mags should be #1 on the list. I wasn't sure of the criteria you used for it, but I'm sure it makes sense the way you do it. Anyways, congrats to everyone on the list.

I gotta wonder what these rankings are based on...

To answer a few questions.

I used a similar formula to the one I use regularly in the SJL rankings (a point system), though altered slightly to fit the project.

Hville Thugg only placed 10th because aside from a couple special appearances, he was only active for five months of the year. (TNT was also active for five months, and just edged Thugg out in points.)

Suicide King was only active for two months of the year, which wasn't much of a contribution to the year as a whole, and thus didn't score very high.

As for ELM, he was active all year, but he didn't win quite as consistently as Edwin or Tom. That said, Tom's average monthly score is really good. Scary good. As in, no one comes close.

I should also point out the inflated score of Mark Stevens, who was only active four months and yet placed 8th. The Clusterfuck win was worth more points than any other match this year and contributed heavily to Stevens' final tally.

But... but he's god... doesn't that count for something?

Don't worry, Taft.

Suicide King is #1 in all our hearts, and selected people's groins as well.

I forget that this is based on storyline records, not writing records. Now I get it.

Dag, yo. I'd forgotten about JD's nightmarish run of goodness. He needs to get back here and start breakin' some skulls...

Wow. I'm mentioned... at all. (Y)!

And Taamo is scary good. We will all be worshipping him soon.

I guess 16th isn't so bad seeing as i was only active for like 4 months all year.

Must remember to auto-job LDP on general principle. No significant contribution indeed. Just cause Stubbs is gone doesn't mean I can't be vindictive too. ;)

Well, winning a Wrestler of the Month, getting a bunch of runner-ups, and ranking third overall certainly isn't bad, especially considering I'm trailing Edwin and Flesher.

Nice work, Pete.

Now, now, King. I don't have complete SWF match records from 2001 but I'm sure you totally ruled in that year.

Yes, Edwin, these are based on storyline records. I can't always be expected to know who wrote what, and sometimes it isn't obvious. And it IS weird seeing Jay Dawg at #4, isn't it? Almost as weird as it is to see Ash Ketchum at #7.

I haven't done any kind of rankings for the SWF before for two reasons: a) I didn't think anyone would take them seriously, and b) Stubby (kind of) had rankings of his own. But now that I've done them once, if you guys want to see them, I may continue to do them on a monthly basis as I do with the JL.

If you do rankings for the WF, I'd like to see a little blurb similar to the ones Stubby did.

Whoa... #7!!!!! :D

Sweet. :)

BTW, Pete, can you help figure out my record for the WF again and let me know what it is? I lost track, but I definitely know I have more wins than losses. Thanks! :D

If you invert the list, I'm probably #2 or 3 on the JttS list for 2002, which will make it that much sweeter when I win Most Improved in 2003.

I could do that, Tom. I was going to do little blurbs here, but since I was up all night compiling the thing, I was just too tired to work on it any further.

Totally understandable.

I'll be happy with anything, as long as you don't tell me I lack presence and charisma. ;)

This is true, but based on how the rankings were done, I'm not surprised.

Still, I got a month, tho. That's pretty damn cool :)

I think I need to work "Three-point-five-time SWF Superstar Of The Month" into one of my intros soon.
