Guest MrRant Report post Posted January 2, 2003 Let me just say I LOVE movies like Toy Soldiers and am a Iron Eagle mark even when it started going REALLY bad with 3 and 4. Gosset rules yo.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted January 2, 2003 I used to love Iron Eagle but I was really shocked at how bad some of it was when I went back and watched it a few months ago for the first time in years. Still liked it though. If it's 80's action I generally like it.

Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2003 I really dig Toy Soldiers, and have watched it countless times. I'm fairly indifferent to Iron Eagle though...
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted January 2, 2003 Iron Eagle, meh. Pretty lame. But Toy Soldiers was a big favorite of mine growing up. I still wish Gossett could've shot that bastard at the end, instead of the glory going to some anonymous commando guy.

Guest red_file Report post Posted January 2, 2003 Not long ago I was pleasantly surprised to find the novel that Toy Soldiers was based on in a box of books I got after my grandmother passed. A decent book; the movie was much better, imo. The first time I saw the movie I couldn't get over the fact that Sean Astin has grown up; previously I'd only seen him as Mikey from The Goonies. My father used to really like the Iron Eagle series, but I was never that thrilled about them. Cold War overtones gave way to Neo-Nazis in the later movies, right? Or maybe I'm thinking of another series. The best Gossett movie ever has to be Diggstown, though that could probably be considered a Woods movie as well. The final con at the end always makes me smile. Never did manage to get around to reading the book it was based on.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted January 2, 2003 I used to dig the Iron Eagle movies mostly cause I love airplanes, but I can't watch them today. I remember the last one where the guys were flying the WWII planes - an American with a P-38, the Brit had a Spitfire, the German had an Me-109 and the Japanese guy had a Zero. That was pretty cool. And I think the second one they had Arabs as their bad guys, forgot the enemy in the first one. Were there three or four Iron Eagles? I only remember I, II and III: Aces High or something like that. Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted January 2, 2003 The American Ninja series always gets my attention whenever its played on the weekend. Hell yes. But I heard 5 sucked, and I never saw all of 4. As for Iron Eagle/Toy Solidiers, I was never a big Iron Eagle fan, but Toy Soldiers is a great movie. It's been popping up on cable a lot recently, but I'm yet to remember to tape it. Guest KanadianKrusty Report post Posted January 3, 2003 I'm a HUGE mark for the Iron Eagle series, ok, the fourth sucked... and I don't remember much of the second... but 1 and 3 were FUCKING GREAT! especially with the world war 2 planes in the third, I even think the first one is the first movie I EVER saw, probably watched it about 800 times...
