Guest C.H.U.D. Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Well, I figure it would be interesting what people consider the best films of 2002. I know some of you probably have a top 25, or some only have a top 5, but let's try and keep the lists within reason. There are still some movies from 2002 I have yet to see that could be added to this list. For now, these are my 10 favourite movies of 2002, in alphabetical order: Adaptation Brotherhood of the Wolf Confessions of a Dangerous Mind Death to Smoochy Eight Legged Freaks Frailty Gangs of New York Jason X Panic Room The Salton Sea Please feel free to tear this list apart, I'm sure you'll find many reasons to do so.
Guest MrRant Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 I can say that since I haven't seen any of these movies that your opinons on them mean nothing.
Guest Mole Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 I didn't see that many movies this year. I have yet to see Gangs of New York, About Schmidt, and Adaption. If Monsters Inc came out in 2002, which I can't remember, it belongs in my top ten too. 1)The Ring 2)Two Towers 3)8 Mile 4)Frality 5)Changing Lanes 6)Unfaithful 7)We Were Soliders 8)Super Troopers 9)Spiderman 10)Attack of the Clones
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted January 3, 2003 Report Posted January 3, 2003 Monster's Inc. came out in September 2001. It was in my top 10 for that year.
Guest imajackoff? Posted January 4, 2003 Report Posted January 4, 2003 1.Bowling for Columbine 2.One Hour Photo 3.Signs 4.Gangs of New York 5.Catch Me if You Can 6.MBFG Wedding 7.Comedian That's all the movies that I saw this year that were worthy of being on the list.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted January 4, 2003 Report Posted January 4, 2003 I'll just post the movies I've seen this year and rank them 1)Gangs of New York - tough one between this and The Ring 2)The Ring - See Above. I think Gangs of New York was a bit better, though 3)Changing Lanes 4)Powerpuff Girls the Movie 5)MIIB had I seen 7 other movies, they'd probably be on the list instead of PPG or MIIB. But I'd only seen 5, and Changing Lanes was a rental.
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 4, 2003 Report Posted January 4, 2003 4)Death to Smoochy -- Extremely funny movie, especially the goody-goody that plays Smoochy (Edward Norton? I'm not sure..). One of my fave funny moments is when the Smoocy guy is singing at that poor house. A kiddy song about crack.....go figure. 3)Not Another Teen Movie -- A masterpiece, it truly is. Main reason is I used to mock all the teen movies anyways... 2)The Mummy Ultimate Edition DVD -- I got this for XMas and it just freakin' rules. The commentarys are the best, with Kevin J. O'Connor (Beni), Arnold Vosloo (Imhotep), and Oded Fehr (Ardeth Bay) being the best, and Brendan Fraser's being a close second. I'm a huge fan of KJOC and the movie is one of my all-time faves. Now if only Kevvy did a commentary for Deep Rising.... 1)Goldmember DVD -- Only thing better than Dr. Evil is Goldmember. Of course, I'm one of those gals that like accents....yup, I'm weird that way.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Not to nitpick, but only two of those movies came out in 2002, Yuna. And yes, Edward Norton played Smoochy. While I'm hear, I might as well conjure up as many movies as I can that I saw that were actually released in 2002. I don't frequent the theater like I should, probably because my city doesn't have one... 5) Jackass: The Movie-Only here to illustrate how many movies I've seen this year. At least it was funny. 4) Attack of the Clones-I'm still not happy with the prequels, but this was way better than Episode I, but still not as good as it could've been. 3) Spider-Man-The more I see it, the less I'm liking it. Seeing it fir the first time was just great, though. Magical even. It's still a good movie. Oh, yeah, I'm a biased Sam Raimi fan, too. 2) Damnit, I wanted to have a good, odd-numbered list of five with Spider-Man at 3 and Two Towers at 1...fuck my hometown... 1) Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers And thus, my sad list reveals that I have a lot of movies to watch. I'm up for anything from 2002, except XXX. I swore I'd never watch that piece of shit, and I sat through Halloween Ressurection...
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Not to nitpick, but only two of those movies came out in 2002, Yuna. If I went by just what came out in '02, I would barely have a list. So, I just made a list of what I saw during '02.
Guest chirs3 Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 From the movies I've seen, in no particular order... The Two Towers Triple X My Big Fat Greek Wedding Spider-Man The Ring Signs Catch Me If You Can Panic Room Ice Age The Bourne Identity I've yet to see Adaptation or Frailty, among others, so this isn't a final list or anything...
Guest godthedog Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Not to nitpick, but only two of those movies came out in 2002, Yuna. If I went by just what came out in '02, I would barely have a list. So, I just made a list of what I saw during '02. well, in that case... 1. pierrot le fou 2. la jetee 3. the 400 blows 4. mulholland drive 5. waking life 6. weekend 7. gangs of new york 8. y tu mama tambien 9. bob le flambeur 10. catch me if you can
Guest evenflowDDT Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 I haven't seen too many movies this year that I'd consider "top" or "best", but I guess compared to everything else they were good. Uhh... who knows? 1) Metropolis (Fritz Lang - restored theatrical re-release; sure I never got around to seeing it, but if the crappy unrestored version is one of my favorite films, I can't imagine a much more coherent version from a better print being a BAD thing...) 2) El Crimen del Padre Amaro (despite its faults near the end, I still ended up liking it better than Y Tu Mama Tambien) 3) Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (sure, I fell asleep during it the second time around, but it was a helluva lot more interesting than Fellowship) 4) Insomnia (a solid, albeit disappointing movie that's only being included because I can't remember anything else of merit I saw this year; all the "arty, good" movies I wanted to see I couldn't afford at the time, and most of the rest was crap. What the hell else came out this year anyway?) The rest of a list will come... eventually... when I try and figure out what came out this year that I saw that I liked. EDIT: Oh yea, forgot about two I just saw... Dog Soldiers and Devil's Backbone. Two excellent horror films that I'll probably end up writing about at some point or another. Oh, and I liked Minority Report a lot too; for a time I considered it my favorite film of the year, which is funny that I forgot about it right now.
Guest Human Fly Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 In no particular order 1. Two Towers 2. Catch Me If You Can 3. Brotherhood of the Wolf 4. Spider-Man 5. Death To Smoochy 6. Spirited Away 7. Minority Report 8. Attack of the Clones 9. Blade 2 10. Red Dragon
Guest spiny norman Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 1. Donnie Darko 2. Road To Perdition 3. The Two Towers 4. Spider-Man 5. Attack Of The Clones 6. Chamber Of Secrets 7. I'm grasping at straws here. Um, Bourne Identity? Gosh, what a horrendous year.
Guest goar Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 There are several movies I still need to see so this will likely change. 1) Punch-Drunk Love 2) Signs 3) About a Boy 4) Two Towers 5) Spider-Man 6) The Ring 7) Catch Me If You Can 8) Minority Report 9) Barbershop 10) Road to Perdition
