Now, if they continue to Book him like this...

Thank HHH, they are FINALLY beginning to push Angle as a serious character, and by extension, a real, actual threat. He looks like a leader out there, he isn't a bumbling goof, people are taking him seriously.I really think this could finally bring him up to the upper echelon. I also believe that if they would have tried this last year, he would be one of the big three of the time (HHH/Austin/Rock) but they fucked that up big time. This can end well for Kurt (The pay off will suck, but oh well). However, they MUST, MUST, MUST keep pushing him like this after the big job at Mania. Will they do that, or will they Jericho him?

Yes, they will continue this type of push with him.

Since he has a stable now, he is a leader. Being a leader, one needs to be strong and serious. Thus, he they will continue this role with him.

Plus, they want to get Shelton and Hass over, so they need Angle to lead them like he is doing.

I'd say they have to give him the belt back by Summerslam and let him run with it til Mania or the Rumble.

I don't see why Angle can't go over Brock. I mean, the heel never wins at Wrestlemania because it's the show of the year, and the WWE wants to send the fans home happy right? Well, there will probably be at least three main events, so just put Angle/Lesnar as the first one, have Angle keep the belt then have the faces go over in the other two main events.

Perhaps Brock could finally attempt a shooting star press, but take too long to set it up. Then Angle could move and counter with the Angle Slam (which would probably be the third one of the match) and win that way. The commentators could play it up as the more experienced Angle beat Brock because of an amatuer mistake. Also, Brock wouldn't tap out or anything, so he wouldn't look that bad.

I mean, it's obvious that Angle should be carrying at least one of the top belts. He is pretty much the entire company with both Austin & Rock out. The question is, will Angle be lost in the shuffle when everyone comes back? Man, I sure hope not.

BTW, Anglesault, why'd you never use that banner that I made for you? Did you just not like it? I'll post it again:

i'm getting such a badass 97 bret hart vibe from angle right now it's scary, and i LOVE IT. he's walking around with his minions now like he owns the company, talking shit, acting cocky & bullying everybody while still in crutches, & it's like his character grew a whole other facet overnight. he's more magnetic now than he's ever been before, and i hope to god that vince sees the light & lets him retain at mania.

I've been dying to see this character from Angle for 2 years now. IT'S ABOUT TIME. Of course, I still am not convinced this will last, because Angle had no confrontation with Lesnar. If they have it so Angle does look like a serious competitor to Lesnar, then it will be fucking GOLD.

I absolutely LOVE the way the are using Angle right now . He is giving off that super heel vibe that is rare and not many guys can pull off these days . I just hope that they dont build him up as this total bad ass psycho and have him job to The Brock at WM19 . ;)

I've already told you, 2003 will be the year that Kurt Angle finally is respected, and finally becomes the huge star, and the Champion character he so deserves. If he jobs at WM, well he will, he will only come back stronger, taking revenge out on Brock!

I have a feeling the Angle push will last most of the year. I don't think his feud with Brock will end with Mania. I could see them feuding for a couple of more months and having Angle come out on top and carry on through the heart of the year.

But I HAD to doubt you. this is the forst time I can recall that he was pushed strongly two weeks in row. Hindsight, three weeks ago works well, but not at the time.

I just had a feeling they were ready to get serious with him. Tonight, AFTER the match, that's when I realized it was actually going to happen. I almost couldn't believe it, but I'm damn pleased that it's going down.

I think this may have to do with them finally being secure in the fact that Angle won't bolt to the Olympics. Angle is Vince's boy, but Vince probably felt he couldn't risk pushing Angle too hard if he was just going to leave.

That's actually kind of risky itself, because not pushing Angle enough might have pissed him off enough to leave, but hey...that's Vince for ya'.

A good way to get Shelton over is if WWE actually knew his name. When he came to the ring, it was spelled Sheldon. Minor mistake, but how does WWE expect to get him over if they don't even know his name?

I agree with this thread. I was MESMERMIZED by Angle tonight.

He cut a great promo backstage and then both during and after the Team Angle match he was brilliant as the manager/mentor/interferer. He immediately looks like a real deal #1 heel. And yeah the Bret Hart vibe is there, in more ways than one. But it's nice and fresh at the same time. The execution of this all-amateur wrestler group is even better than I imagined.

And I think part of it is that it's been quite a while since we've been treated to a good stable.

I'm now glad they waited this long on bringing in Haas/Benjamin, because I can't imagine a better way to introduce them.

I had my doubts about Angle/Lesnar, not whether it'd be good but whether it could draw, but they are definitely on the right track right now. It's hard to believe they're already building towards their WrestleMania program. I thought WWE didn't bother with that anymore. The winner of the Royal Rumble is being telegraphed but I can live with that.

And oh yeah, those who are saying it's all down the drain if Angle does the job at WrestleMania, please!!. That's basically the pinnacle of what you can do as a heel. It means (in theory) you're the #1 guy who the fans want to see get their comeuppance and one of two guys expected to carry the year's biggest buyrate.

Rock did the job at WrestleMania just about every year. I don't think it hurt him too bad. He won his first world title at Survivor Series '98 and laid down at the next WrestleMania. He only became a bigger star after that. Angle's situation is not that far off (not his first WWE title, but will be his first time main eventing WrestleMania).

If Angle gets shot back to the midcard after WrestleMania, then you have a beef. But he SHOULD lose there.

If Angle gets shot back to the midcard after WrestleMania

They have a history of shooting Angle back to the midcard after he finishes some business in the mains.

2001: (Spring) Benoit, Shane, Edge. (December After PPV) Bouquet of midcarders

2002: (Spring) KANE(!!!!), Edge. (Fall) SD!6.

They refuse to let him build any kind of security in the mains.

assuming he does lose to brock at WM and their program is over (cause three months is pretty long for a current feud), what else is there for him to do really? what other top smackdown face can he feud with--benoit? people will probably say he's stuck in the midcard again. edge? ditto. undertaker? angle would get BURIED in an undertaker feud. does he get traded to raw, to feud with steiner or booker t or kane or rvd?

I just have no faith at all in Angle losing the title at WM then being continued to be booked strong. Jericho was in the same position last year. The heel losing the title at WM. After last year when Jericho was not even in a match at the following PPV there is was no more of giving the writers the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully I am wrong and I will be pleasantly surprised but I would not bank on it.

i don't think angle will consciously get buried, but...really, after he loses the main event at wrestlemania to brock, what else can they do with him? where does he go from there and remain a strong heel?

Oh yeah, defiently.

After Mania, they will feud for two more months. Who will win when, I don't know. But I bet the match at Backlash will be a submissions match, or street fight or something like that. Then at Judgement Day, it will be a Hell in the Cell or another type of gimmick match.

Rock. Austin. Hell, Taker DID treated Angle a little better last year, aside from the three way with benoit.

yeah, i can see him feuding with austin.

rocky i don't think will happen, cause all signs point to him coming back as a heel (which would be bad for angle--and i still say babyface angle v. heel rock at wrestlemania would've been GOLD).

They're going the route they were originally headed with Brock, where when Angle drops the title his services are rendered useless and thus we get the face turn that the fans have been waiting on. You come back around and Angle getst he win back at SummerSlam in a face vs. face match.
