Guest Mole Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Ever since the emergence of 3-D animation, it seems that all these movies seem to be really good. Out of all of them, I believe this one is the best. Much better than the overrated Shrek. I never understood what all the hype around this movie was, it wasn't THAT funny. However, Monsters Inc is THAT funny. It is something everyone can appeal to, Monsters in the closet. John Goodman, Billy Crystal do a great job in the lead roles. And they made the little girl, Boo, as cute as possible. She is honestly one of the cutest characters ever made, in animation and in real life. What did you fellas think of this movie?
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 "Fellas"? Hey, don't forget the ladies! I'm a closet Monsters Inc. fan. And why did they have to make that lil girl so damned cute? You just CAN'T RESIST her cuteness....if she ever went for world domination, I'm sure she'd have no problems winning.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Love Monster's Inc. And The girl is really cute. Reports say that a certain NAMBLA founder on this board was looking to expand his horizons to outright pedophilia and waslooking for her phone number before...never mind
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 My better half bought the DVD -- cute movie. One thing that gets me about these Disney DVD (and I've only seen a handful of them mind your) is that there are all these !@#$% ads/previews/etc. before the actual movie. I know some other titles do this too, but damn. I had to skip around 10 chapters to get to the !@#$ menu section...
Guest Karnage Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 WWE DVDs have ads for other titles available and the "Don't try this at home" ad at the beginning too.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Well before the previews start up they give you the option of pressing menu and going straight to the Main Menu. But yeah it does suck. I mean shit i bought the movie why must i see ads. Can't they just make a seperate version for the Rental market.
Guest Gimmick Poster.com Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 May I suck this movies schlong now or shall I have to wait in line for you guys to finish? And the movie wasn't really funny. It put me to fucking sleep actually. But then, I was kind of tired. But that's not the point!
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Although, if I had to choose between Shrek and Monsters Inc.....I'd have to go with Shrek.
Guest Mole Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Shrek over Monsters Inc? How come? I really think Shrek is overrated hardcore. It really wasn't that funny to me. And that girl was the cuttest girl I've ever seen. I read that the little girl who was the voice of Boo was so young, she couldn't stay in front of the mic. So they just followed her around with a mic and recorded what she said. Ice Age was another great 3-D movie. Does anyone agree with that too? I'm pshyched for the new Pixar film, Finding Nemo. The story doesn't look that good, but I am confident in Pixar to make a great, funny movie.
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Ice Age was another great 3-D movie. Does anyone agree with that too? That movie is the reason I missed a Smackdown this year! It was so boring that I fell asleep, and mom didn't wake me up until AFTER SD was over.
Guest godthedog Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 'waking life' OWNED 'monsters inc' and 'shrek'.
Guest Flyboy Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 It goes: Monsters Inc. > Ice Age > Shrek. It's quite simple.
Guest godthedog Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 It goes: Monsters Inc. > Ice Age > Shrek. It's quite simple. this reminded me of kinetic's old "my dick > your dick" thread. which i thought was ironic, cause we're talking about kids' movies.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 It goes: Monsters Inc. > Ice Age > Shrek. It's quite simple. Ditto. Shrek is still good though.
Guest Flyboy Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Thinking about dicks in a kiddie movie thread, GTD? Sick pervert.
Guest Mole Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Yup, that is a perfect example. Monsters Inc. > Ice Age > Shrek. Waking Life? Never heard of it.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Monsters Inc. is good, but Lilo and Stitch smokes it six ways from Sunday. L & S is easily Disneys best film in a long time, probably the best since Lion King. The main thing that sets it apart from other Disney stuff is the character of Lilo, who is much more articulate and mature and has more depth then any other Disney character in a while.
Guest godthedog Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Yup, that is a perfect example. Monsters Inc. > Ice Age > Shrek. Waking Life? Never heard of it. 'waking life'
Guest EL BRUJ0 Posted January 5, 2003 Report Posted January 5, 2003 Monsters Inc. ownz those other movies respective genitalia.
Guest Mole Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Well, thanks for ruining the ending to Lilo and Stich for me!!
Guest Anglesault Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Oh, fuck, sorry about that. I deleted it.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 I agree, Monster's Inc. is a great film, and I think it's by far the best of these CGI cartoons. Shrek is my least favourite, I find it too simplistic and the pop culture references were annoying. Don't even get me started on Waking Life, talk about a endurance test just getting through that pretentious bile.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 'waking life' OWNED 'monsters inc' and 'shrek'. Uhhh... can you really make a comparison like that? That's like saying 400 Blows owned The Bad News Bears because both had children as their main characters. They're in totally different leagues, and I don't really think that's a fair comparison. Waking Life isn't a "kid's movie" like the other two. Also, to spice things up a bit: am I the only one who likes Monster's Inc better than Toy Story? I got in an argument with my friend over this the other day. I prefer MI because of its story and the friendship between Mike and Sully seems more realistic than the sappy "you only see it in the movies" hated rivals turned best friends in no time fast deal with Woody and Buzz. Also, for the obvious reason that MI came later the animation's a lot better.
Guest The Hamburglar Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Toy Story owns all films mentioned here. The only C-G film it does not own is its sequel, which it is just slightly superior to. Toy Story is pure genius and one of the best films of the nineties or indeed any other time.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 I enjoyed Monsters Inc. more than Toy Story. Monsters Inc. has a better story to tell and it's more interesting than Toy Story. Also the song "You've Got a Friend In Me" just annoys the shit out of me everytime I hear it and always ends up pissing me off.
Guest The Hamburglar Posted January 6, 2003 Report Posted January 6, 2003 Monsters. Inc does indeed rule. Its funny, charming and breath-taking to look at. However, to me it lacks some of the depth of Toy Story.
