I had an obsession with drug addiction at the time (in spite of being terribly clean living), and was writing a story involving a junkie. I learned everything I could on the subject, and would use my knowledge to impress women at parties. I used to keep a spoon in my pocket just in case. As for drugs, I tried both LSD (once) and Magic Mushrooms (once), just to see what they were like. Eh. I've never had a desire to try pot or any other drug. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 7, 2003 I have what you call an "addictive personality" which I did not realize I had during my 4 years of substance abuse Hell. Or more like I chose not to accept the fact that I had a problem. I pretty much did everything under the sun a couple times but my favorite poison was booze, weed and shrooms. I did stay away from the Raver drugs though due to my utter hatred towards raves in general and how I always felt that raves were for desperate bisexual chicks and gay guys. My stance has softened up over the years though on raves so you can come out of hiding Kotz. Nearly all of my living and deceased family members have had problems with substance abuse (except my mom and kid brother) which has costed our family a lot over the last couple of decades. I have been sober for 3 years and 6 months now and I never intend to fall back into that pit again. I have no problem with people drinking around me but the temptation is there which is why I don't go to many party's at night. My girlfriend use to be a party Grrl when we first started going out but after I cleaned up she stopped going to the party's and said she realized how much happier she was when it was just the two of us together doing whatever. Substance abuse is a tricky topic with me but I hold nothing back and I am open about my experiences with drugs and booze with the hopes that some of the kids my brother knows will see what I went through and maybe go a different route. But I'm not going to force my beliefs on anyone because if someone wants to get drunk/blaze/shoot up then that's their choice. I think I know the local cops better than I do some of my own friends after getting sent to the "Tank" so many times... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I've stayed away from everything else other than that. After that initial time, I would go with my step-brother and act as if I were smoking but I wouldn't inhale. Got a contact buzz but that's about it. Wish I'd have never done that for the brief period of time that I did. Got smart and got away from it quickly, though. Do you not smoke for all the obvious reasons like health, legality, etc, or do you put pot in there with everything regarding Thy Body is Thy Temple? He declined going to the annual holiday party because of the alcohol. When I pointed out that he could simply decline to drink it in favor of something else, he said he didn't want to be around all that sin. That's when I asked him if he thought Jesus and the Apostles drank Snapple back in the day. I don't recall him ever looking at me funnier than he did right then... I just think they are nasty, although I am against this smoking ban they have been doing in NY. As for pot, I've considered it, but a situation hasn't really arrived where it was readily available. By that I mean that I know many people who smoke up and deal, but I wouldn't waste my money on shit like that. If it were a freebie maybe, but I refuse to actually buy it. Other than that, I'm a rare smoker, I've smoked weed and would probably do that more if i could roll a joint to save my fucking life, have taken poppers and am interested by acid, though I don't really know anything about it, and am not beating myself up over not having tried it. Wifey never touches the stuff other then wine for dinner. I drink it in all forms, Beer, Rum, Tequila, Pussy Drinks (Mikes, Zima, Smiroff) and Jelloshots. Cocaine-Once. Acid's something I'd definitely recommend everyone trying at least once. Don't get all retarded with it, like sitting around watching Pink Floyd's The Wall or anything to try to gauge the experience. The true test of whether you enjoy acid or not is to sit in a completely silent room, dimly lit, with nothing at all to play around with. If you still have fun, grab a ten strip and go to town. If you feel as though it is wrong and that you are harming yourself. Use common sense and don't do it. Anyhow if your friend does smoke, that is his problem, not yours. You shouldn't judge your friend just because he's a christian. Christ does cleanse you from your bad habbits. If you were a christian, as he is, then you felt it was wrong for him to do that, you would ask him not to do that around you. He would then respect his fellow brother and not do it in front of you. As one who's never tried, I probably have no right to speak, but I think it's odd that you would say you can't really *enjoy* something like acid unless you can ejoy it by itself. And yes, I realize those weren't your exact words, but you see what I mean. I dunno - I just think that if something makes something else more fun (I'm a huge fan of getting toasted and listening to music/watching movies) then there's nothing really...wrong, with it. If its perfection your looking for, don't look towards your friend (he's a sinner, as we all are) look towards Jesus. every time i read one of your serious posts, i see bubble boy right below it and it just negates everything. that's not a flame or anything, it's just that with your bubble boy personna it's difficult to take everything you put down seriously. i'm a total pussy about my controlled substances, and i freely admit it. i'll smoke a clove once in a blue moon, and i'll drink maybe 3 or 4 times a year. and when i do drink, i have to dilute it in fruity shit (usually orange juice) because i can't stand the taste of alcohol, & i can taste the alcohol in just about everything. alcohol in general just doesn't do much for me, i don't consider it that fun. i've only been drunk twice in my life. first time, i just got really tired. second time, i made out with a stranger at a party & flyboy knows what happened from there. (that doesn't quite sound right. for those of you wondering, no--flyboy was not the stranger i made out with that night.) i have an addictive personality and a family history of alcoholism also, so alcohol & drugs in general tended to scare the shit out of me when i was a youngin, and even though i did have an interest i was too scared to actually try anything (although i did have a strong desire to take acid and watch '2001'). now they've lost their appeal to me anyway, so i'll probably never touch them (except alcohol of course). Though if/when I ever do give it a try, I'll most likely be not totally alone, but with a few guys I know. I don't like doing any drugs by myself. Smoked pot by myself once, and drank by myself once (Though there were circumstances surrounding that). I hvae been known to smoke pot although htat is something I usually save for large parties of the sort. Acid and shrooms are only things I've done at concerts. Okay, I think I've deciphered this, and here's my reply: First of all, I don't hold his faith against him, just like I don't with anyone else. If I did, that would be mighty damn hypocritical of me since I don't expect others to hold my lack of beliefs against me, so that's the bottom line on that point. I don't consider his smoking weed (or mine) to be a "problem" and it's definitely not something I consider offensive. I just think it's interesting that he shuns vices other than pot, because pot's in its natural state (well, other than being dried) that god or whatever decided. See what I mean? There's a verse in Genesis as well, I don't remember exactly which one, but it says something to the extent of "I have given thee all the trees bearing fruit and herbs bearing seed for you to use." For someone that's never done the shit before, and has probably heard stories about the guy who now thinks he's a glass of orange juice, it might be stressful, and stress is NOT what you want while under the effects of something hallucinogenic. Therefore, the first time, I wouldn't recommend staring at a crazy movie or looking at Magic Eye pictures or anything. Shit might get too weird. Do something simple, like stare at wallpaper, or leaves, or snow. If you like it, there's no way to have more fun than to trip hard on the fourth of July.
