Guest Anglesault Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 They are building the Rumble as 15 Raw, 15 Smackdown!. Now, I seem to remember some OVW guy winning a birth in the Rumble. Is that still on? And if it is, does that mean he's going to the WWF? Is he any good? Which show should he go on?

Someone post a pic.
Guest GameCop Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Damaja will probably be a surprise entrant. The crowd, of course, will yawn upon hearing and seeing a nobody. It's up to Damaja to make a first impression.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Damaja is an entrant he beat Angle to win his slot in an OVW match
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 The pics wouldn't link, but here's the address: http://www.ovwrestling.com/superstars/dama...aja/profile.htm
Chunk Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Yeah I remeber it being Damaja as well. I would have prefered to have seen Nova get the spot, but what a supprise, the guy with a small reputation is over looked (gotta promote only wwf talent eh Vince?) Perhaps they'll just say how hes a rookie on one of the shows rosters and totally brish over it. Its not like we got a huge description of where th hell Benjamin and Hass came from. ChUnK!
Guest subliminal_animal Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Damaja is an entrant he beat Angle to win his slot in an OVW match Huh? Angle?
Guest Mole Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 It wouldn't suprise me if WWE just forgets that whole thing.
Guest Downhome Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Is he that good of a worker? The Four Horsemen were his favorites growing up, so he gets points right off the bat.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 How the hell do you pronounce his name? Is it just a lame spelling of "The Damager"? Or is he an ayatollah or something?
Guest AndrewTS Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I'm sure he'll get an award-winning WWE gimmick. And that award will be a spot on Wrestlecrap.
Guest kane3212321 Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Damaja is a pretty decent wrestler from what I've seen. Though his finished the Brain Damage is the Baldo Bomb so he'll have to stop doing that and the rest of his high flying offense........
Chunk Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Damaja is an entrant he beat Angle to win his slot in an OVW match Huh? Angle? He beat Nova to get the spot in the rumble. And yeah, its a lame spelling of Damager
Guest the 1inch punch Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 It wouldn't suprise me if WWE just forgets that whole thing. Thats what I'm betting, but im curious as to how Cornette will edxplain it
Guest Ram Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I always read it as "the Duh-Mah-Ha". The Damaja..wow...that's lame.
Guest Zack Malibu Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Damaja is an entrant he beat Angle to win his slot in an OVW match Huh? Angle? He beat Nova to get the spot in the rumble. And yeah, its a lame spelling of Damager There was a gauntlet series between Damaja, Doug "Machine" Basham, Nick Dinsmore and Rob Conway to see who got the shot at Nova (OVW Champ), and who would get the Rumble slot. Damaja won, got the title shot, and won the title from Nova. He did face Angle, but it was after he got his slot. It was a non-title match, and Eric Angle ran out to save Kurt from interference from The Revolution (Doug Basham and Jackie "Blows Spots, Amongst Other Things" Gayda).
Guest raptor Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I just read on 3strandwrestling that The Damaja will be one of Smackdown's 15 competitors. It's an Internet news report, so take it with a grain of salt.
Guest Anglesault Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Angle needed to be saved from Jackie Gayda? There is something so absurdly funny about that. Oh well, only ten people saw it anyway.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Yeah that was it, Apologies for the mis-info, I knew he faced Angle at some point, but OVW is kinda hard to get your hands on for us Limey's so I get a bit hazy on some of it
ChrisMWaters Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Why couldn't have been Nova that won it? That would have been SO much better. I'd have LOVED to have seen Hurricane and Nova in the ring at the same time.
Guest PlatypusFool Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Why? Nova is horrible and his career as any sort of draw is over, not that it ever existed in the first place. What's with all the love for Nova?
ChrisMWaters Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Why? Nova is horrible and his career as any sort of draw is over, not that it ever existed in the first place. What's with all the love for Nova? Nova horrible? I don't think so. I always found Nova's matches enjoyable, he did some moves better than others that used them, had the Kryptonite Krunch, was entertaining to me... You call Nova horrible over guys like Test, Mark Henry, and the like?
Guest Rob Edwards Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Nova's too small to carry any intrest in the Rumble match at least Damaka is believeable as offering resistance to being thrown out
ChrisMWaters Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Nova's too small to carry any intrest in the Rumble match at least Damaka is believeable as offering resistance to being thrown out You don't have to be big to show believability in the Rumble. Look at Flair, Martel, Backlund, Valentine. They weren't really that big, and lasted at LEAST a half hour each in the Rumble. Being small makes you wiry, easier to grab ropes, and easier to do more agile moves to get back into the ring. Oh, and don't forget Michaels.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 I'd rather forget Michaels Jericho should be the clingy little bastard in this year's rumble, however that gives me horrific visions of him hanging on for half an hour only to be tossed by Michaels, which will make me physically sick. If it comes down to jericho and brock at the end I'm a happy man.

If it comes down to jericho and brock at the end I'm a happy man. Maybe Jericho AND Christian could be the clingy little bastards this year. Course, if Edge is in the Royal Rumble, he'll probably eliminate Christian from the match.

Guest saturnmark4life Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Maybe they gave albert a new finisher so they can bring him in using the baldybomb.
Guest Brian Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Nove invented the rumble. He doesn't need your charity. He invented that too.
