Stupidest saddest moments in sitcom history

Recommended Posts

-When Carol's boyfriend died on Growing Pains (Matthew Perry)

I gotta say, granted not too many pre-teeners will think of it but he did not die BECAUSE of drinking and driving, he got better, and then died from comlications in the hospital (ala Derrick Thomas) So whats the message? Personally I would have shown the crash (or the standard sit-comish way of fading as Carol is screaming) and it looks like the guy is okay (maybe a small gash) and Carol says something like "Boy that was close" a beat, she nudges him and finds out that his neck was broken

Thats the only one of the top of my head, I'm sure I'll come up with some later

I'm sure most of these will be from the 80's family sitcoms.

Steve

When Will Smith got shot on the Fresh Prince. I was laughing my ass off the whole time, especially when Carlton got all paranoid and was like "That bullet was meant for me!" And really, any time Will tried to cry, like when his dad came down and then left again... he just can't pull off tears convincingly.

I must also say that the antithesis of these moments was on the Cosby Show when Theo gave this long speech to Cliff about loving him for who he is no matter how he does is school, the audience starts to applaud, and Cliff comes back with "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard." That was great.

I remember laughing at that.

Kinda like Jesse from Saved by The Bells hopped up on Diet Pills...she was really bad at that

Heh, Jessie's withdrawl. "I'm SO EXCITED!! I'm so excited!! I'm.....so........*bawls*.

I hated at the end of EVERY FUCKING Full House they would play that sappy music as someone learns their Lesson of the Day and the audience goes "AWWWWWW" when they hug. They did that in other sitcoms, too.

when the olsen twins got amnesia on Full House. And her memory coming back in the form of her twin was the stupidest thing EVER. And the end of the episode was even worse! 'We'll always triumph over not-good stuff!' *Hug* 'Awwwwwwwwwww' *applaud* Kill all of them!

It wasn't so bad in the beginning. Then Michelle learned to talk, Jesse turned into a pussy and they overdid it on the cute.

I wonder if they'll ever do a True Hollywood Story on the show?

Ok, it's not exactly sappy but I remembered the stupidest thing ever from Full House. The three girls had found some parrot and it belonged to the owner of an appliance store, and for returning it he said they could have anything they wanted from his store. The two older girls couldn't decide between a big screen tv or a karaoke machine, so Bob Saget decides to let the Michelle decide. She picks a card board standup of the guy with the bird on his shoulder, and SAGET LETS HER DO IT! That right there makes him the biggest fucking idiot in the history of television.

YOU ALL SUCK!

The Fresh Prince moment with the gun was fuckin great. It wasn't about the bullet being mean for Carlton, it was the post-shooting incident with Carlton that transformed him into a thug for 1/2 a minute, buying the gun, it being loaded etc...

My mom and lil sis were hooked on Full House replays for a while. Ugh... now they're stuck on Sister, Sister replays, which is TWICE EVERY F'N NIGHT!! Pity me.

Full House always wins the "stupidest saddest" award, hands down, because they are so many of those stupid moments. The Olsen twins couldn't act worth a crap back then. Although, Joey and Jesse saved that show.

One episode that ALWAYS pissed me off was when DJ went to junior high. Gawd, can we say shallow?? She doesn't fit in with the "popular" kids, her outfit is the same as the Lunch Monitor's, so DJ goes in the phone booth and cries. Damn, I wanted to shoot her right then. The next day, she dresses up like a cheap whore just to fit in. Thankfully, though, she wasn't allowed to go to school like that. Then the ending where the nerds tell the preps off was LAME!

Another thing that bothered me about sitcoms with teens in it is the "I GOT A ZIT! OH MY GAWD, MY LIFE IS OVER!" stoyline. It was just so annoying!

Whoah...I really went off-topic here. By the way, does anyone know where the guy who played Jesse is?

John Stamos (Uncle Jesse) was in a short lived series called Theives a season or two ago on ABC, and on off days, is banging his wife, Rebecca Romjin-Stamos.

I remember one episode of Full House where some millionaire was going to pay an assload of money for the house, and they were all but ready to take the check when Michelle walks into the room, says, "I don't want to leave this house." and everyone agrees and rips up A MILLION DOLLAR CHECK. WHAT.....THE....HELL?

Why did most 80s/early 90s tv shows end with the "selling the house" story

How about when Gordon Jump of WKRP fame abducted Arnold's friend on Diff'rent Strokes. Actually I think every kid got kidnapped at one point or another on that show. A few of the maids did too.
