Guest C.H.U.D. Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Happy new year! We start of 2003 with a decent selection of new discs. CB4 One of my personal favourites finally arrives on DVD in widescreen with a trailer and a music video. I hope it's the video for Straight Outta Low Cash, that song has the best lyrics ever. The Good Girl Well written and acted black comedy starring Jennifer Anniston in a breakthrough performance gets a nice release including deleted scenes, commentaries and more. Mystery Date Another favourite of mine, cheaply priced with a widescreen transfer and the trailer. Oz: Season 2 The second season of one of the better shows on television gets the same treatment as season one, including commentary on selected episodes and some making of featurettes. The Shining The miniseries adaptation of the Stephen King novel finally shows up on DVD in matted widescreen, with commentary by King and others. 'Till next week.
The Dames Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 My picks this week are Buffy: Season 3, Oz: Season 2 and I'd pick up The Shield: Season 1 if I had dough. Dames
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 "Signs" has been released today as well...
Guest Mole Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 Buffy, Buffy, and oh ya, Buffy. I'm just getting Buffy.

Guest Max Danger Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I'll be getting Buffy(Season Three), sometime today. Just gotta go around and see where I can get it the cheapest.
Guest NoCalMike Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I will be picking up Oz towards the end of the week.....DEFINATELY
Guest DVD Spree Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I'M WACKY D THERE'S NO QUESTION I CAN DANCE DANCE IN MY PANTS AND IN YO' FACE~!
cawthon777 Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 I already picked up Buffy and Signs. Kinda disappointed with the extras on Buffy compared to Season 2 (loved the campy TV spots). Anyone know what Wal-Mart's policy is on ringing up a wrong price? I checked online before I went and they were selling it for about $40. The box itself had no price sticker and after I left I realized they charged almost $50. I went pretty early so maybe whatever sales they were running on the new merchandise hadn't started yet...?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 The Unmentioned January 7, 2003 Band of Outsiders Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown Best Little Whorehouse in Texas Brother John Imitation of Life The Last Supper Martin Lawrence Live The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human Much Ado About Nothing (1993) Pepe Le Moko Secret Ballot Trouble in Paradise Who is Cletis Tout? The Woman in Red --------------------------------------------- *wishing I had enough for the Shiled to go with my Buffy and Oz*

I'd go back there with your receipt and a copy of the webpage and try and get your money back. If the folks at the Service Desk don't give you the money back, ask to talk to the store manager.
Guest Lethargic Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 The website and the store prices have no connection at all. Just because something is one price on the site doesn't mean it's the same at the store. If you took a website price in there they'd probably just say you shoulda bought it from the website then.
Guest converge241 Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 have to buy Signs great, great movie
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted January 7, 2003 Report Posted January 7, 2003 CB4 on DVD??? :::: marks the FUCK out! ::::
Guest Karnage Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 Oz Season 2 is missing commentaries I think.
Guest Marshall Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 CB4 rules! I have to get that. Next week is Undercover Brother. Can't wait!
Guest Marshall Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 have to buy Signs great, great movie Dude, Signs was piss poor. It was an average movie at best and then that ending made it a shit movie.
LaParkaYourCar Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 have to buy Signs great, great movie Dude, Signs was piss poor. It was an average movie at best and then that ending made it a shit movie. Hey I liked it and I thought the ending was just fine. Different tastes I guess.
Guest razazteca Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 when will Fear Of A Black Hat get released? it is the superior "This is Rap" movie! "You got to get revenge for my man, they killed him on the toliet........they could of at least wiped his ass!" fav qoute of CB4
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 I bought Buffy season 3. Season 4 in June then... sigh.
cawthon777 Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 have to buy Signs great, great movie Dude, Signs was piss poor. It was an average movie at best and then that ending made it a shit movie. I've heard complaints about the whole use of water in the film...but hey, did anyone ever knock 'War of the Worlds'? And the people in that story didn't do crap, the aliens just died from Earth germs.
Guest Grand Slam Posted January 8, 2003 Report Posted January 8, 2003 The only new release I am ikely to pick up this week is "Much Ado About Nothing". Pretty good little flick there. Nothing else really excites me.
LaParkaYourCar Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 have to buy Signs great, great movie Dude, Signs was piss poor. It was an average movie at best and then that ending made it a shit movie. I've heard complaints about the whole use of water in the film...but hey, did anyone ever knock 'War of the Worlds'? And the people in that story didn't do crap, the aliens just died from Earth germs. Exactly. Signs was more old school. Nowdays everything has to be flashy and violent. They have to blow the aliens to kingdom come. I liked the ending of Signs. I thought it tied the whole movie together quite nicely. I don't care what anyone else says.
Guest Lethargic Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 I liked Signs a lot too. I liked it just for the fact that M Night Shabadoo stayed away from a twist shock ending for the first time. I don't like it enough to buy though. I'll get it from Netflix and copy it though.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 I thought Signs was well directed and acted, but it just pissed me off that I went in thinking I was going to see a movie about aliens and ended up seeing a movie about faith. Blargh.

Blargh. Hey it's not everyone's cup of tea, but that's one of the reasons I liked it even more.

Blargh. That's exactly why I did like it. We've had a million alien invasion movies that focused solely on the invasion. They never show how it would effect a real human nobody family. Maybe you get to watch a scientist or a soldier or a president (along with a love interest) fight the invasion, but you never see normal people. This was an alien invasion that you never saw, the only thing you saw was this normal family watching the events on TV in probably the most real life version of this constantly rehashed story ever.
Guest RobJohnstone Posted January 9, 2003 Report Posted January 9, 2003 Why does everyone like buffy? That is the worst show on tv. It is so shitty. I can see watching a show because it has good looking girls but, to like it like you guys do, geez. You really couldn;t pay me to watch a whole buffy show. --Rob

There may be occasional less than great episodes, sure, but that goes for every other show on television. Maybe it's because you haven't watched a whole Buffy show that you don't get it. And what's with the bashing, anyway? I don't go into the martial arts thread and go off on how it's lame how the dialogue and mouth movements don't match.

And to make such a comment, you've seen every show on tv right? I mean you would have had to of. The people that really like Buffy, most have been into the show from the very beginning, or go back to the start to get caught up. From someone who's poping in to catch a random episode, and not even watch all of it, I guess you're not expected to like it.
