LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2003 What movies didn't have a happy ending? I can think of a couple off the top of my head: Jeepers Creepers and Final Destination (kind of) There's a lot of movies I've never seen. Can anyone else think of some more? Guest Human Fly Report post Posted January 7, 2003 Se7en comes to mind right away Braveheart and Gladiator could be considered as not having happy endings too IMO
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted January 8, 2003 That Denzel Washington movie where he was trying to get rid of that ghost that was possessing people. Braveheart Deep Impact End of Evangelion(unless you find everyone else dying except for Shinji and Asaka a "happy" ending) Terminator 2 was pretty bittersweet with Ah-nold melting himself Boyz N The Hood Menace II Society That one sailing movie with the ER guy where they all die from those two hurrincanes that came together. Spider-Man had a pretty bittersweet ending as well.
Guest chirs3 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 That Denzel Washington movie where he was trying to get rid of that ghost that was possessing people. That would be Fallen. And via PM, could you please explain to me just what the hell happened in End of Evangelion?
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Gladiator had a happy ending in that I was happy that it was over. The next Star Wars movie sure as hell better NOT have a happy ending. The Ring Ran (which basically means any version of King Lear) Othello (and any version Therof) The Wall Wag The Dog had a mixed ending. It was good that they got him reelected I guess, but they killed Dustin Hoffman's character. Halloween Gangs of New York's ending wasn't happy. It wasn't sad by any means, but it wasn't...happy... LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I knew once I saw some others I would kick myself for not thinking of them. Se7en definitely does not have a happy ending. I was kind of pissed at the ending of Spiderman.......why the hell did he tell her he just wanted to be friends???
The Dames 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I was kind of pissed at the ending of Spiderman.......why the hell did he tell her he just wanted to be friends??? Guys, try not to spoil any recent films...k. As for Spidey, although it bothered me slightly that he didn't take Mary Jane when she offered herself to him....all he could think about is how much danger he'd put her in if he did, so I can understand that. Following The Others Titanic Cast Away My Best Friends Wedding Patch Adams Casablanca Awakenings Rain Man The Deer Hunter ...not all are really sad, just bitter sweet but all fit the "not happy ending" type of deal. Guest Downhome Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Oh shit, Memento! Can't believe I forgot that. How does Memento not have a happy ending? It's my favorite film ever, and I thought the ending was a perfect way to end it and still be pleasing to the characters.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted January 8, 2003 SPOILER! SPOILER! SPOiLER! Memento did have an excellent ending. It wasn't happy because we discover Leonard has been manipulated by himself and others, has possibly killed innocent men (and definitely killed men innocent of murdering his wife) and may do it again, and his entire quest, his reason for living, is all really for naught. SPOILERS........................ Well, to discuss this we have to know what we're talking about. Are you talking about the end of the movie, or the end of the story? The end of the movie is sad, as we find out that someone has been messing with him, however, the end of the STORY, the begining of the film, is a happy ending as in Lenny's view, he finally caught John G., it's over then and there. Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Requiem for a Dream had a horribly DEPRESSING ending. Even Pretty Woman originally had a sad ending until the test screen audiences convinced the studios to demand a different ending.
