First off congratulations to the markers for getting the show up so damn early. I hope the trend continues.

My match was also terriably rushed, after discovering that the matches were due at 5 instead of 12, I was going to no show but with the extra time I scrambled to get something in. The opening sequence is the greatest thing I ever wrote, while the rest of the match is just a bunch of linked spots. Which really isn't a bad thing, but it lacks the emotion and depth the match deserved. I'll do a review when I have the time.

HOLY SHIT IT'S EARLY

Aaaand, uh... starting Danny's match, it looks great so far... I should read Z/Judge and the tag match sometime too, methinks.

Oh, and Frost is in line for an ICTV title shot, give him one, eh?

If wasn't for all the kick ass promos and storyline progression I wouldn't have read most of it all the way through. The main event was executed near perfection and big props to everyone.

*Raises glass* Here's to a new era of SWF.

My match was slightly rushed as well. It's not too bad up until Riley gets clobbered. After that, I suggest just remembering I won and moving on, since it gets very very choppy.

And the show looks fantastic! I'm reading it while doing a show promo for Lockdown.

A decent show to come off the holiday season into the new era, so to speak. However, I have the sinking feeling that every match was a default win. Someone prove me wrong?

Also...the last event on the show is exciting, but sadly I can't mark out. It didn't work out at all last time, and I fear the same thing might happen this time. Good luck, though! If this is a true appearance, I have a new prediction for the CF winner.

Well this has been an event filled show. Lots of promos prove that angles are getting started but I'm wondering just like Edwin if it was all no shows. Still though, X returning Frost getting his props are all things I thought I'd see at the last PPV.

Looking at the finished product I am well pleased. Knowing what went into it though I am less pleased. That said, I am very happy about the quality and quantity of promos (particularly Thugg's of course). I am reserving judgement on X's return, because when he wants to write he can, but the last time means he's gonna have to prove himself to a lot of people before faith is restored fully.

Kudos of the night go to Danny Williams, who wrote a really good match that shouldn't have had to win by default. And he did it AFTER tellin gme he was going to no-show. This is hard for me to say Danny, but... I love you.

Silly bastards.

So far I've read the promos, Judge/Z (duh), and the return o' the X! That'll teach me to read the comments thread before the show, as the surprise was ruined with a capital... uh...

...

R, capital R...

Still, what I've read is pretty darn good so far...

More to come.

What a show! That was tight! I don't know who showed, or what...but that show was just hot. We had a major storying running through the whole show, but also (which is what I like the best), we had good standard face time/trash talking promos, and decent matches. I liked the promos from Annie, Judge, and either Mak or Danny, whoever wrote it. I like how the angle is about the title and the promos were that kind of 80's/early 90's style of just talking smack for a few minutes. No special surprises...no frills...no massive plots. Just...

"I'm gonna kick your ass and take your title."

I love that shit.

Danny's match kicks ass once again, and one has to wonder how long he'll hold that US title before moving up to greener pastures. Frost did an immaculate job with the main event, for which I must commend him seeing as how I kept changing what we were doing storyline wise. Kudos also to TBS for getting all those promos straight and in the right place. He did a good job of using the other promos to complement the main storyline...mad props.

I'm glad eveyrone liked the promos and the storyline for the show. However, I cannot take full credit for that...I had another idea going in to the show about what I was going to do. Thank goodness for the 2 week break, during which Xstasy came back home. After making me realize my original plan was dumb, he came up with this idea for his return, that I think really came off as perfectly as anything we've ever done together. So...mad props to him for the idea...mad props to Frost for his promo and the main event, and mad props to me for writing all those damn promos. Hee hee. :)

Seriously though, this is a hell of a way to kick off the new year...

I'm sorry I couldn't show Danny, but honestly with that match it would not have mattered. If that's you rushed and just trying to whip something off, then we're all screwed anyway. I loved the entire match and was quite riveted to it. -I- felt emotion off of it even if you didn't feel it was there.

*sigh* Rose is no longer mad at me because I forgot her birthday, but my parents are done raising hell for now. I got two days off and I'm writing whatever match I have today. The no showing from this girl ends today if I have to use the last electric impulses my brain ever sends to type the damn thing out. Blargle.

again, HUGE (Y) to Danny's match, who is becoming to me what I was to Craven.

-Annie

So I'd just like to point out that a double-team crucifix powerbomb is a sweet tag team finisher, especially when the guys doing it are two middleweights who'd probably normally have a bit of a problem powerbombing someone larger than them.

Bravo.

Thugg promo

-Seems like people walking down the red carpet at the Oscars. I think that would be a nice deal to do before a big ppv. Everyone does a red carpet promo. The touch with King walking through and patting Thugg is golden, very cool. Although I see HVT just completely snapping, however if King would do that in the first place then he knows something Thugg doesn’t and that plays in well later. I think more mystery could have been set up about what happened to Stubby, but it does make you anxious to see what comes next.

Annie Promo

-Seems like a roundabout way to start a feud with Judge, but it’s nice to see the attempt made. And a feud centered around Annie not thinking Judge is hardcore enough to wrestle that style and Judge being pissed off by that could be very interesting. I look forward to Judge’s retaliation.

Alex Zenon vs. Judge Mental

-I like the commentary pointing out the similarities between the two early on and how quickly Mark and Bobby have the face/heel lines drawn between them. I don’t get the “booing by some of the diehard Z fans.” There are diehard Z fans? I’m not being funny, I just don’t get that part, but it could be something in the character change I just haven’t picked up on since I haven’t fought Alex recently and kept up with him. The shirt thing is classically sneaky, but I don’t see Zenon falling for it so easy. It’s a forced spot. You also needed to refresh readers what the rules of the match were upfront, because I was confused until I reread the card. I like that Mag 7 has a small fan base, probably fairly accurate. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use a ladder in a “something on a pole match,” makes sense though, so good job with that and it brings in the idea that it is a hardcore match at heart. The commentary loses a bit in the middle. It’s feels like just a bridge between spots without saying much. I don’t like bringing Bobby into the match, I don’t see a reason for it and you don’t do much with it. You also don’t do much with the paint can and the painting of the numbers as that was the point of the match. Overall the match is solid and well done which shows JM’s continued improvement, but I think he lost some narrative threads as he went that were important to making this specifically booked match work.

Thugg Promo II

-We have a security chief? I’m begging somebody who knows what they’re talking about to do a list of all the miscellaneous staff members just so we have things straight and characters to use if need be. I could make up a bunch of random shit, but you really don’t want that. Props on using the name “Jim Phelps” from Mission Impossible. We keep hearing about these Stubby “rumors” but no one says what the rumors are exactly. Nice chemistry and tension between Thugg and King. King calling Thugg out saying he’s changed and then Thugg saying he’s not is real slick. Thugg just says he hasn’t changed where the perception was that the old Thugg would have just beaten the shit out of King and walked way. I don’t know much of the old HVT, but the subtle character tweaks he’s put in are great and should be explored more.

Nathan vs. Tod

-I might have missed a promo or something somewhere, but what’s the deal with Angel. Either point me in the right direction to a past match or promo or something should be written to help develop the character and explain her reasons for being. Although it appears that Angel bumps like Sherri Martel on crack. Billy Chioda is a referee now. SOMEONE WRITE A FUCKING LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must say that I still much prefer the old Tod character, but I think he is getting more comfortable with this new direction and playing the old “I’m under appreciated and everyone else sucks my cock” angle is good to finally give him some meat to the character and storylines. The commentary is too short and far between with out adding much. It needed to be more descriptive and insightful in examining the match and filling in background. Remember Bobby Riley is gay; he doesn’t have a “loose taste in women.” The match is standard Tod with wall to wall action at a snappy pace and the best grasp of fundamentals and classical match structure than anyone going today. The ending submission sequence could have been described clearer and worked longer as it seems that Nathan tapped out almost immediately, no matter what previous punishment he had taken.

Frost/King promo

-I wrote this at Thugg’s asking to help out with his storyline. The idea here was to explain why King would come to Frost for help against Thugg without using straight exposition. My concept: King has a similar personality to Flesher’s and as Flesher sees and uses Frost as little more than hired muscle that can be manipulated, King feels he can do the same. If he’s going to be butting heads with the biggest baddest man in the fed, he wants the next biggest and baddest on his side. Frost, however, is getting very fed up with being viewed as a “pawn” and will do what he wants when he wants, yet with HVT sticking in his craw he can’t help but fall into King’s plans.

Ced and Mak vs. Ash and Xero

-Oklahoma won the Rose Bowl this year. Nebraska lost the Independence Bowl to Mississippi. And Nebraska is the Cornhuskers and Oklahoma is the Sooners. Needless to say the opening bit lost me. And quit bitching about random tag matches that aren’t that random. I think we should all have a giant pow-wow over whether we want a tag division or not and if so, then damn it people need to start tagging. Nice use of the commentary to fill in history and expand on spots in the match, this was what I was talking about needing to be done with the last contest. The tag so quickly in seems off, like it was contractually obligated that Ced and Ash start. While you work the individual segments well against the grapplers, I think more chemistry and teamwork between the partners could have been used. Seemed a little short and a little cut and dried at the end, but the finish was hot and you utilize the hot tag well. I think Ced and Mak could make a fantastic tag team and hope they become a permanent fixture on the scene.

Thugg Promo III

-Reads like something you’d see on Raw and I don’t mean that in a bad way. It was your standard call out one guy and get swerved segment, but Thugg sets it up with his previous promos and it helps King to come off as a smart and cunning new force as commissioner. I still want to now what the rumors are, where is Stubby supposed to be? I don’t know how well this works coming off of my promo as it looks like Frost is working under King’s direction, but I can do a promo clearing it up that Frost attacked HVT at that time because he wanted to, because he was tired of hearing his bs. Having King ask for Frost’s music to be played is a very nice touch and I like how you write it that it pisses Frost off.

Williams vs. Annie vs. ELM vs. Flesher

-I like the attack before the bell, but you should have kept it going and then have ELM and Flesher run out to join in over time. I did that with a four corners in the SJL and think it worked really well. You play the different levels of crowd heat for the individual participants up well based on their card positioning. Brilliant writing of Flesher as he uses the rules of the match to his advantage while still cheating his ass off. It’s all about the mind games with him. The way the match is written it comes off like your basic tag match. However, it doesn’t make much sense for the stablemates to square off and that kind of defeats the purpose of the stip. I believe Danny wrote the much the way it should have been, but my problem is the way it was booked, it should have just been a standard tag or perhaps a tornado tag. Danny makes the right choice in taking the win over Annie, it boosts him while not detracting from the heat and feud of ELM and Flesher. Another stellar effort from Williams, but I think the stipulation hurt any match that could have been written.

Mak/Danny Promo

-The fact that Mak was in the Mag 7 and left due to his conflict with Flesher was never mentioned and should have been. The main history and sticking point that the two men have is Francis’ past affiliation with Danny’s stable. Still a feud between these two will lead to some hot, well written technical matches.

Thugg Promo IV

-Seemed like a tack on for what happens after the main event. I think it could have been written a bit differently to hint that it might have been Stubby on the phone without it coming off like a complete swerve later. I hate the cell phone promos, but damn if they ain’t handy.

Judge promo:

-I like the tact taken by Judge. He doesn’t want to be a Hardcore wrestler and couldn’t give a damn that Annie says he isn’t hardcore, because he doesn’t want to be anyway. If Judge does win he hardcore belt, I think he’ll need to do some promos to cover it. However, a Hardcore champ who despises the title, but defends it based on personal pride and professionalism I think would be a great angle for what I don’t consider to be an interesting division.

Frost vs. Orochi

-I believe that Orochi no showed and am sorry to hear it. I think the match was a little rushed at the end, but I got tied up when I thought I would have some leisurely time to finish. Oddly, that led me to fall into a prose style that I think works well with Orochi’s character and really sets up the finish to be more dramatic that I thought I could pull off. Although, it is a bit disjointed from the rest of the match. I like the aspect of starting on the floor, getting that out of the way and moving inside. I’ve also been flirting with working with double psychology and that worked for the most part from my estimate, save not really doing much with the working of the stomach toward the end. Not my best match, but there are some elements in there I like and want to do more of as my style evolves.

Xstasy Return

-I don’t know who Xstasy is and don’t know why I should care he has returned or what past history he has with Thugg. I’m sure this will be all covered in the near future and on the next show, so I will be waiting to see how it plays out. But I hate it when someone returns and expects everyone to know who they are and why they rock. All you need to do is a promo of a history type video to refresh people’s memories.

A lot of storylines get put in motion and the matches, even if most were no shows, were very solid with just a few flaws here and there in my book. I hope that Lockdown will produce and even better and more competitive show. I’m pissed that Funk was not chosen for the new show’s name. Can we change the ppv to Clusterfunk?

Also, everyone and their mommas know who Xstasy is...which is why no history lesson is necessary. I find it hard to believe that you don't know who he is, given that he's been mentioned a lot on these boards, and is considered to be one of the best writers we've had. His major flaw was that he kept leaving and coming back...not as bad as say Outcast, but he had some issues with...uhhh..."management"...several times, and also, some other things IRL, so he kept leaving and returning. However, for my money, he was, is, and forever will be the biggest superface this fed has ever had. In my mind, his return puts him immediately in the top 3 faces, storyline-wise that is. Although, we will have to see how the match aspect takes shape.

Oh, and he's also the lost member of the Kliq, so you best bow down to him less my hand find your chin.

I know of X to be sure, but I don't know who he IS. I don't know much about his old feuds, matches, storylines and character. I think anyone making a return after significant time off should do something to recap themselves.
