Guest ShamRock Report post Posted January 10, 2003 I'm very eager to get this DVD.Does anyone know when it's coming out? How long does it usually take for recent movies to be released on DVD/VHS? Thanks.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Right now, the plan is to release the theatrical two-disc version in August and the four-disc extended version in December, so it'll be almost exactly like the Fellowship DVD in terms of release. No specific date has been announced to my knowkedge. Credit The Digital Bits
Guest ShamRock Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Thanks, but what about HP and the Chamber of Secrets?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Probably June or July based on when it was released in theaters compared to LOTR: The Two Towers. I hate that they release the Extended Edition so much later. It just makes me have to wait longer to buy it on DVD.
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Jackson said the DVD release schedule would be the same as it was for Fellowship.

I imagine it takes time to edit the Extended Edition together and perform the new score.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted January 10, 2003 Well....I'm double dipping! I bought the extended version of FOTR after a friends recommendation, having never seen it and I fell in LOVE with the film. Since then, I've seen Two Towers twice. However, the other day, I went to the Wiz to buy Buffy Season 3 and they were playing FOTR so I stood there and started watching. My jaw DROPPED when I noticed that the extended version not only added scenes, but straight up REMOVED small scenes and snippets of dialogue. I've become such an LOTR fan in the past 2 months that I immediately began searching for the 2 disc version to purposely double dip....but I couldn't find it. So....I'm double dipping for all 3 films. Besides, the extras aren't even the same on the DVD's. Dames
Guest razazteca Report post Posted January 10, 2003 I'll wait until all 3 of the LOTR movies get released on a director's cut 10 hour uncut movie box set. Fellowship + 2 Towers + Return of King no need for the documentrys just add all of the good deleted scenes and merge the Trilogy into one full length movie. Guest cabbageboy Report post Posted January 10, 2003 I didn't notice so much that they took out stuff from FOTR in the extended. I do know that I found the extended a much better film that helped me understand what the hell was going on and added to the characters.
