Guest Flyboy Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Today, we're looking at VICK~! Vs. McNabb and Maddox Vs. McNair. Should be great games, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see some upsets this week.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted January 11, 2003 About the only upsets I see are Pittsburgh and maybe the Jets if they get lucky. Other than that, all the favored teams should go over today.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted January 11, 2003 I will be very surprised to see upsets in the NFC unless Brad Johnson gets hurt again. I fully expect the Jets to beat the overrated Raiders, and I picked the Titans even though the Steelers could surprise me (like they did against Tampa). Guest Still Fly Report post Posted January 11, 2003 My picks SF over Tampa.- My upset of the week. If the Niners can score fast and often in the first half then look for the Bucs defense to get frustrated. The Bucs D isnt good playing from behind. Niners D needs to stop Alscott and hopefully can put pressure on a rusty Brad Johnson. Bucs O needs to score at least 14 points in this game since Garcia and Owens will get theres. Bucs D to win needs to land a knockout punch if the first half(Having the D score). Should be close but Niners prevail Eagles over Falcons- Falcons proved they can play in cold weather last week by routing the Packers in the frozen tundra of Lambeau. Can the Falcons upset Super Bowl favorite Eagles? The answer is no. The Eagles D is much betterthan the Packers and the Falcons lack of an offensive threat other than Dunn andVick will prove their demise. The Eagles proved they can play without McNabb and having him healthy will help matters. The Eagles will win but the falcons wil put up a fight. Titans over Steelers- This game will not be your usual grind it out type game. This game will be an aerial show since both secondaries are questionable. The Titans have the edge since McNair is a proven Super bowl calibre QB and Maddox is not. The run will not be a factor since the teams are 1 and 2 in run defense. This game should be highly intense since both teams really hate each other. Raiders over Jets- The game ive been waiting for. I have to admit the Jets look pretty awesome against the Colts posting up 41 points and getting the status of the hot team. However the clock strikes midnight in Oakland. People are forgetting that the Raiders went 7-1 down the strech and their run defense looked improved over the last few games. In the MNF meeting last month the Raiders held Curtis Martin to only 64 yards rushing. The Jets Offense depends heavily on the run to run their play action, misdirection and screens they love to run. If the Raiders can stuff Curtis Martin early and hard the Jets panic and the plays they love to run wont be there. The Jets O needs to keep the Raiders off the field. Ball control will be an important stat of this game. the Jets need to exploit the Raiders corners since the they are banged up. The Jets D needs to control MVP Rich Gannon at knock him out of rhythm. The Raiders will get theirs the question is that can the Jets match them? The Raiders are coming off the controversial loss in New England last season. Will Jerry Rice, Tim Brown and Rich Gannon let the Jets defeat the Raiders at Oakland. No they wont. This game will be close and intense but past failure of the Raiders will propel them to the Championship round of the AFC.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted January 11, 2003 My picks: Pittsburgh at Tennessee (-4): That’s the current betting line, as of the time I’m writing this section (late Tuesday night). I’m going with Tennessee here, and I think they’ll cover. They’re on an amazing hot streak, their defense is playing inspired football, and Steve McNair has been winning games all by himself when he’d had to. Eddie George will grind out some tough yards against the Pittsburgh D, and the Titans win. Atlanta at Philadelphia (-7+½): That’s a big spread in the playoffs. Again, I think the home team covers it. Tampa Bay shut down Michael Vick twice this year, and the Eagles have the personnel and speed to adapt their gameplan. Donovan McNabb will play, and his mobility won’t really be an issue. Playing on a broken ankle, he torched the Cardinals as a pocket passer. He’ll be fine. The over/under is 38 for this one, and I’m inclined to take the over. San Fran at Tampa Bay (-5): It’s hard to pick against these home teams. Tampa Bay can completely stop the 49ers’ rushing game, which forces Jeff Garcia and Terrell Owens to beat them. Garcia and Owens can beat a lot of teams. However, I don’t think the Bucs are one of those teams. It’ll be close, so bettors among you are hereby advised to take the Niners and the points, but the home team wins another one. NY Jets at Oakland (-5+½): Chad Pennington was the highest-rated passer in the NFL among starting QBs this year. His opponent is no slouch either, as Rich Gannon is now the reigning league MVP. The big question will be the health of the Raiders’ secondary. If they’re still tender and banged up, then Santana Moss and Lavernues Coles can torch them deep, while Wayne Chrebet lulls them to sleep with posts and underneath routes. I’m looking for a shootout here, and I’m going to call the upset. The Jets win a close shootout, and continue to look like the Patriots of last season. Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2003 My picks: Oakland/N.Y. Jets - I got the Jets in an upset here. I can see another upset happening and this is the one, IMO. Pittsburgh/Tennessee - Tennessee takes this one, I see the Titans going a bit further in the playoffs. Atlanta/Philadelphia - Atlanta's run ends here, Philadelphia wins. Tampa Bay/San Francisco - GO NINERS! I'm taking my Niners in an upset, if the Niners can score early and often and establish the run against the Bucs, I think they can take this. Edit - I mean if the Niners can establish both the run and pass and keep the Bucs' offense off the field.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Ouch. Tennessee loses Eddie George and the lead within 2 plays.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2003 Looks like that doesn't matter now that they've scored again.
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted January 12, 2003 WHAT AN ENDING! GO TITANS! Here's hoping for the Jets-Titans in the AFC Championship game.
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Wow, impressive game. Gotta love Cowher and his tantrums.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Oh my God, I believe that Titan's game just gave me an ulcer, DAMN fine football here people! I'd HATE to be the guy that ran into the kicker, he is going to be eaten alive.
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Vick is clownshoes compared to McNabb Lambeau is clownshoes compared to the VET~! Eagles are taking the Falcons to school
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Dear Lord was that Steelers-Titans game brutal. Now THAT'S playoff football. I didn't think any game could top last week's, but there you go. That's why the NFL is America's favorite game. I wonder what excuse Cowher will come up with this time.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Why did you make a one and only thread to cover 4 football games? That makes no sense. I wanted the Steelers to win. Was fun watching both coaches blow up durring the game
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Where are all those idiots who said the Falcons were winning this one last week? I'm not saying it's over, but it's pretty cowardly to just spout shit and then run for cover when you're getting made to look like exactly what you are: full of it. Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Can I count them out now? With :09 left and Eagles ball? I can't wait to see Philly give Tampa it's yearly humbling.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted January 12, 2003 That's it, Zsasz. Me and you. Right here, right now. I'm sick and tired of your Buccaneer badmouthing. Especially considering that Philadelphia looked thoroughly beatable tonight and won the game by virtue of stupid Atlanta penalties. I'm gonna pound your face in, buddy.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted January 12, 2003 They played like garbage tonight still dropping way too many passes and playing with little fire. The Eagles will beat Tampa because they will play better than tonight and the Bucs have little offense. BUT, if the Eagles play like they did tonight (very shitty with little emotion) I can see the Bucs winning.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted January 12, 2003 That's what I'm talking about. I'll gladly concede that the Eagles could very well win next week and smart money is most definitely on them. But Tampa has more than a fighting chance and will almost certainly play Philly better than they have in their last two playoff meetings. Of course, Tampa still has to win tomorrow just to get there. Guest Shanghai Kid 2003 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Philly didn't beat Atlanta, the refs did. Seriously, I don't think i've ever seen such a one sided game as far as penalities go. On a long kickoff return, its called back. When we barely touch the kicker, it's roughing the kicker. While the Eagles are clipping the Falcons without getting called, we got called on a phantom hold when Mike Vick gets hurt scoring a touchdown that would of tied the game. Their was just too many bogus calls for to me even acknowledge the rest of the game.
Guest midnight_burn Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Tennessee continue on their winning ways, moving another step closer to making it back to the Superbowl. Now we just have to wait and see if the AFC Championship Game will be held in Tennessee or Oakland.
Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted January 12, 2003 I don't see the bogus calls. -The kickoff return call was clear -Roughing the kicker I will give you -There was a clear hold on the play when Vick got hurt And once you get five penalties in the first quarter the refs are going to call more on you as well considering you have shown yourself to commit penalties you won't get the benefit of the doubt. I wholeheartedly agree that the Eagles looked sub-par tonight, but Michael Vick was a fucking joke. 6 points? This guy is 1/8 what Mcnabb is. Vick is a good quarterback. McNabb is a franchise player. Guest Shanghai Kid 2003 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Mcnabb has a better team, plain and simple. Vick did everything he could to keep his team in it, but his recievers kept dropping passes and the refs kept calling penalities. When Vick gets the kind of supporting cast that Donovan has, you will see why Vick has more talent in his thumb than Mcnabb does in his whole body.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Bear in mind that this is Vick's first year as a starter. All things considered, I'd say he deserves all the credit he gets and will eventually be twice the quarterback McNabb is. I daresay that he might even be better than Brad Johnson. He looked all right tonight, but penalties killed almost every opportunity they had. GOOD penalties, though. I didn't see any bogus calls, either.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 12, 2003 The Bucs D isnt good playing from behind. Pittsburgh week 16...Scored 17 in the first quarter and Tampa's defense was only responsible for 10 of those points. Final score...17-7 Tampa's defense was just fine after getting behind. Vick is a good quarterback. McNabb is a franchise player. Oh yeah McNabb scoring 13(7 off defense) on a mediocre Atlanta secondary. Wow that's undeniable proof that McNabb is far superior to Vick... Guest the pinjockey Report post Posted January 12, 2003 I wouldn't use McNabb's performance tonight as a judge because he did go 20-30 and there were at least 5 crucial drops that killed drives so he could have had one of his best games ever if the receivers had cooperated.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Oh I'm not judging his performance. You can't use score to judge a player...although a certian Eagles fan appears to think so.
