Thank you for reminding me, I can't f'n wait for this. I really hope they don't use it just to bury the grop though. I was watching War Games '87 (quite possible my favorite cage match of all time) last night, and it reminded me of my undying love for the Four Horsemen, that love will NEVER die.

Look for them to break the biggest news ever in wrestling. Somehow, Dusty got his hands on a time machine, travelled to the future, saw DX in action, and took the concept back with him to 1986 to make the Four Horseman.

Before I make a remark that I regret, can anyone tell me about the 4 Horsemen? The only thing I know about them is that it somehow involves Flair, Arn and Benoit. Beyond that.... *shrug*

I will try and catch that, if I'm not too drunk and tied up with Tiger Woods 2003.

Here is a picture of excellence...

old4h.jpg

...they were the beginings, and it continued for years on and off, the greatest collection of Pro. Wrestlers of all time (for the most part, lol). Picture above are Ole and Arn Anderson, Ric Flair, and Tully Blanchard. The members through it's history have been...

1) The Four Horsemen 1986

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard

2) The Four Horsemen 1987

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Lex Luger, Tully Blanchard

3) The Four Horsemen 1988

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, Tully Blanchard

4) The Four Horsemen 1989

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Sting

5) The Four Horsemen 1990

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Sid Vicious

6) The Four Horsemen 1993

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Ole Anderson, Paul Roma

7) The Four Horsemen 1995

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Brian Pillman, Chris Benoit

8) The Four Horsemen 1996

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Steve McMichael, Jeff Jarrett

9) The Four Horsemen 1997

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Steve McMichael, Jeff Jarrett, Curt Hennig

10) The Four Horsemen 1998

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Steve McMichael, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit

11) The Four Horsemen 1999

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit

...God how I miss the good ol' days!

The original four were Flair, Ole Anderson, Arn Anderson (no relation), and Tully Blanchard.

They were the first really dominant stable, the name came from a promo where Arn likened them to the four horsemen of the apocalypse. There were other incarnations of the Horsemen later on, all involving Flair, and Arn in some form or another.

Benoit was in the most recent Horsemen, which were Flair, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, and Steve "Mongo" McMichael. Yes...something's out of place. Most of the time it was made up of the best wrestlers in the fed, but sometimes talentless putzes like Mongo, Paul Roma, and Sid were in the group.

The group has gone through various revivals, but the original was the best in most people's opinions.

I forgot to mention they were managed by Mr. J.J. Dillon, we can never forget him!

Don't forget that Spanky also makes his debut on Velocity tonight versus Funaki.

Downhome: Do Jarrett and Hennig's stints count? Hennig went nWo almost immediately, and Jarrett, if I recall correctly, was just a wannabe Horseman.

Ah...yes. Before Dillon was a WCW figurehead, he was a perverted tagalong who was basically Flair's lackey. Sorta his personal roadie. I remember seeing skits of him in that role when I rented a tape with classic Flair matches in NWA/WCW.

Here is a picture of when they reformed in Greenville, SC back in 1998, in what was one of the most emotional moments in the history of Pro. Wrestling. I am proud to say that I was there, cheering with every other true Horseman and Ric Flair fan, in the HEART of Horsement country...

...wooooooooooooooooooooo!

Hey, JJ was a GREAT manager for the Horsemen, he even took part in what I deem one of the greatest cage matches of all time, War Games '87 (even though JJ was the one who surrendered). He was great, in my view anyhow...

...and yes, I think Henning's run counts because he WAS a Horsement, albeit a short time, and Jarrett counts also, as he was eventually an official member, but for a short time also. It lead to the fighting withing the Horsemen.

Can anyone find me the picture of the Horsment, which had Ole, Tully, Arn, and Flair all together, holding all of their respective titles in a pose? I can't find it anymore!

I remember that horsemen revival--Flair cussed out Bischoff too. It was after Ric was being sued for not making some appearances, or some bull they were pulling.

I don't remember Jarrett being officially inducted--but at that point I wasn't paying that much attention because (surprise, surprise) WCW was really sucking then.

I'll willing to bet though that we get the Horsemen history according to WWE, instead of an indepth and accurate look.

I still hope that the Horsemen don't come back so HHH can keep whizzing on Ric Flair's legacy.

Thanks for the info.

Isn't he related to HBK or just trained by him? Or was that Michael Shane? Actually, Michael Shane's voice sounded, oddly enough, like Christian's...but that's probably just me.

Yep, he missed a show because he went to go see his youngest son, Reid Flair I believe is his name, compete in a National Wrestling Tourny, which he won.

Oh yeah, Reid will be a damn FIREBALL when he gets older, you just wait and see. I wouldn't discredit David though, give him a few years and he could suprise us all. I've seen him work more than one pretty good indy matches, so I know he has it in him, it's just a matter of him finally all coming to gether.

Somehow I picture an older Reid as a weird mix of Angle and Ric. I guess because he's already wrestling amateur and getting damn good at it, and who is father is...maybe would even get some training from Hennig.

Although it's going to take a while for David to turn himself around. My personal theory is that he didn't want to force David into wrestling, like Stu did. Sure, the Hart children were great wrestlers, but they didn't really have a chance to be anything else.

Although I think maybe Reid really wants to do it.

Still...David isn't quite Jackie Gayda, so I think there's hope for him yet, but not just yet.

This reminds me of what Scott Keith said in his Royal Rumble 2002 rant during the Flair/McMahon match

"The Flair family is at ringside, and Reid is BADASS. When did this kid grow two feet? Screw Scott Steiner, sign HIM."

What would you guys do if on RAW, or an upcoming show, the ORIGINAL Horsmen, Ole, Arn, Flair, and Tully all got together with JJ, and attacked HHH and broke his leg?

I'm just, you know, saying.
