Ring Of Honor made its Pittsburgh area debut in front of a boisterous crowd that came to enjoy quality wrestling and have fun. The entire show entitled "Revenge On The Prophecy" is now available for pre-order at RFVideo.com or by calling 215-891-9404.

The show opened with Special K of Deranged, Yeyo, Angel Dust, Hydro and ??? saying they were in Cleveland then Buffalo then Erie before starting to rave in the ring. Da Hit Squad and SAT crashed the party by giving a Spanish Fly and Burning Hammer to members of Special K bringing the crowd to its first ROH chant of the night. Mafia then welcomed Pittsburgh to Ring Of Honor.

The opening match was a wrestling clinic that almost stole the show as Chad Collyer defeated Matt Stryker. Both men were very impressive and fit perfectly with ROH's pure wrestling style. This set the tone for the night.

IWC's Super Hentei won over the massive Mega.

CM Punk evened the score by defeating Michael Shane in a solid bout. Is this victory enough for Punk to crack ROH's top five rankings?

Konnan & Divine Storm defeated The SAT & Ghost Shadow in a match that had the crowd in awe of some of the action. Konnan got the fall on Ghost Shadow, but Ghost Shadow impressed ROH officials.

Da Hit Squad defeated The Carnage Crew in a bloody weapons match that saw numerous objects used before DHS put Loc and Devito through a table. The crowd gave both teams a standing ovation in appreciation afterwards.

After intermission, Special K of Deranged, Angel Dust, Hydro, Yeyo & Slugger defeated Dunn, Marcos, Oman Turtoga and Diablo Santiago in a tag team scramble that had lots of action.

Paul London won an incredible four-way over BJ Whitmer, Homicide and Colt Cabana when he hit a shooting star press on Whitmer, who had Cabana in the dragon sleeper. This was the show stealer. This could put London in a position of being a top contender in the first ROH top five rankings.

Samoa Joe defeated American Dragon Bryan Danielson in a brutal strong style match that lived up to all expectations. The two will have a rematch Feb. 8th in Queens, New York at the Elk's Lodge when ROH comes to NYC for its first anniversary show. More matches for that event will be announced Monday. This victory is sure to give Joe a place in ROH's top five rankings.

Low Ki & AJ Styles gained revenge on Prophecy members Chris Daniels & Xavier in a No Holds Barred match. Daniels was surprisingly led to the ring by new Prophecy member Allison Danger. This 1/2 hour classic saw Ki nail a concrete slab with a steel chair into Xavier's ribs in the same way that Xavier did to him when he won the ROH title. Styles then hit Daniels with a Styles Clash from the apron through a table. Ki, taking advantage of the no holds barred stipulation, locked Xavier in a Tarantula Dragon Clutch making the ROH champion tap. This one left the crowd chanting "ROH!"

Ring Of Honor would like to thank everyone in Pittsburgh as well as all the people who traveled from Buffalo, Toronto, Cleveland, Michigan, Ohio and everywhere in between for making ROH's first trip to Pittsburgh so successful. ROH has set a return date in April. This Monday will have the debut the first ROH top five rankings on ROHwrestling.com.

thoughts:

--i hate that kind of opening, it's exactly the same deal as da hit squad beating up christopher street connection to kick off era of honor last year. if you're trying to make the point that your company isn't about gimmicks, just don't have them in the first place. hopefully will come off better on video than it sounds.

--the last three matches sound great, so i'll probably try to get hold of the show, but the undercard leaves me pretty uninspired. that never used to happen.

--with lowki, styles and daniels working the main event again, roh is starting to feel a little too close to tna for comfort. okay, they were with roh first but tna is promoting cards more regularly and thus they have become more recognisable there. i just hope roh isn't becoming a pleasant diversion, a side-project which offers good action but is somewhat irrelevant in the overall scheme of things. i hope that's not the case, i hope they can continue to build momentum, it was just a feel i got after reading these results.

any thoughts? anyone there live?

How did Konnanperform on the night? Was he carried, or did he make for up for the slateing he got last show? With him getting the fall, it looks like they're sticking with him.

Syles then hit Daniels with a Styles Clash from the apron through a table.

I gotta see that! That match sounds awesome.

Whats this about the ROH top 5 rankings? I havent heard of that until now, what is it all about?

ROH prides itself on presenting wrestling as a sport. Every sport has rankings, ratings or standings. In order to accomplish ROH's mission of delivering the most athletic action, ROH will debut a top 5 list next Monday. This will show the top contender's to the ROH title, #1 contender's trophy and where everyone stands on the roster. Since ROH has such a deep roster, just making the top 5 will be an accomplishment. The results of the matches this Saturday at ROH's Pittsburgh area debut will shape the initial top 5 list. A new top 5 will be released the Monday after every ROH show.
