Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 My friend Jeff, who I've known since the 3rd grade, was in a car wreck on Friday night and is currently in a coma in ICU. The doctors say that if he somehow does make it, he'll be a vegetable the rest of his life due to the extensive brain damage suffered. Know what's really fucked about all this? Jeff was Timmay's cousin, a friend of mine that died 2 months go.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 All the time, actually. One of my friends died November, my friend Jeff will probably die this week, and it's all juxtaposed to the joys of other aspects of life.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted January 12, 2003 I'm sorry to hear about that, man. Good luck to you, he, and his family.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 Jesh, great news in the General Chat forum. Molestomp loses a friend and now the same for you. Sorry to hear this.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 I am very sorry as well, but this brings up an interesting point; would you rather die, or live the rest of your life as a vegetable calling the attention of all those that live around you? If he had just suffered some sort of mental or physical handicap because of it, that wouldn't be as bad, since he would still have the chance to live a "normal" life. But if he is really going to live the rest of his life with no idea of what's going on around him, I would rather have them pull the plug, regarding if I was in that situation. So how do all of you feel? It's a complicated issue I think....
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 I am sorry to hear about this, CL. I don't know what it is worth to you, but I will say a prayer for him and his family.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted January 12, 2003 I just got word from my friend Amy, who talked to our friend Scott (who was Jeff's best friend), that there were some complications somewhere along the line, and it will be a miracle if Jeff makes it through the night. ...this fucking blows ass... You have to think about the other people in your life as well. My girlfriend, for example, even if I was a vegetable, she'd still stay with me, but I'd much prefer her to move on and find someone else who could make her happy. If I were dead rather than a vegetable, she'd have to move on, it'd be much better for her. BTW, I'm sorry to hear about all these deaths, my thoughts are with both Laz and Mole. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 14, 2003 Laz, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I wish him the best and I hope he makes it. No one your age should be burying two of your friends this close together.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted January 14, 2003 Thanks Sass. I know I shouldn't, but I'm still scared that I'll be burying at least one more by year's end (many of my friends are druggies, awful drivers, and depressives).
Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 14, 2003 Unfortunately my kid brother is in the same boat as you (minus the bad driver's deal since him and his friends are only freshmen in high school). I have seen a trend amongst the youngins in high school and how a large number of them are doing drugs in middle school while my buddy's and I didn't start doing anything serious until our sophmore year's. It's scary.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2003 Even the supposed "good" girls who get high grades and are relatively high on morals and shit drink sometimes, and even dabble a little with weed. I just find that weird since they don't seem like that at all. I would hate to know what the REAL druggies are into...
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted January 15, 2003 Well, I thank you for all of your condolences, prayers, and thoughts. Jeff is still alive, and breathing on his own. He'll make it. He has surgery on Friday to remove a piece of his brain due to swelling, and he'll need to be completely rehabilitated, but he'll be okay.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2003 So if they have to remove a piece of his brain, how much of a difference would that make in his life? Would he still be a vegetable, or just have a handicap that isn't as bad? I'm glad to hear that he will turn out fine however...
Guest So what? I liked bubble boy Report post Posted January 16, 2003 we have our differences, but damn, that is messed up, hope you feel "bright and shiny", as they say.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted January 16, 2003 I've heard two things, neither the same, and both from close friends of Jeff's that are extremely reliable: One says that Jeff will go through rehab and just need to be taught how to do things again, and another says he's cabbage. Guest Sassquatch Report post Posted January 17, 2003 Corey I am so sorry to hear that bro. At least your friend is alive but he still lost a lot during this ordeal. I wish your friend the best recovery possible Corey and I hope you hang in there man. He's going to need his friends more than ever and I know you'll help him out whenever you can. Hopefully your friend will win this battle.
