Tonight's Helms-Hardy Match on Heat

Recommended Posts

Guest nl5xsk1

I just saw the last few seconds of the Helms-Hardy Heat Main Event, where they fight with Raven after the match ... what are the odds it was done to set up a match on Raw between the two Omega vets against Raven and someone ... say Stevie Richards? Right now none of the 4 really have anything better to do, and it could prove to be an OK tag match, if given some time to develop.

Or nothing will happen, and it will be forgotten by this time tomorrow.

It'll be forgotten. And Stevie has nothing to do with Raven and at this point can be considered higher on the card than Raven so why would he team with him!?

And speaking of that match..........WTF was Jeff Hardy saying on that before match clip!?

Ummm....he was saying something about falling off rainbows and volcanoes......I think.

Jeff//Hurricane vs Raven//Stevie would make sense, actually. The reason for the cut on Stevie's face was from a faulty kick by Jeffy last week. Although what Raven has to do with Hurricane is beyond me. They were talking last week in a backstage segment...something that, apparently, "goes against what the Hurricane stands for"...and this week Raven is attacking him.

Raven and Stevie have no history in the WWE. Besides Stevie's a lackey to a bigger star than Raven as of now :)

I've read that Jeff Hardy likes to write poetry... and if that segment before the match was any indiction...

he fucking sucks! Jesus Christ that was lame. I've read better poetry coming from 4th graders

A role that fits Stevie quite well, considering all the moments those to give us. (note the "Chicks Dig Me" icon)

Actually, Raven and Stevie do have some history, although very little. They teamed up to take on Matt//Jeff before... King of the Ring? It was before some PPV. The only reason I remember that is because of Raven's freaky yellow contacts.

Actually, his poetry is quite good...in written form. Was he speaking a poem in his promo? I couldn't tell. Although his singing voice sounds good.

I picked Richards less b/c of their history in ECW or WCW (neither of which has been mentioned in the WWE) and moreso b/c they would make a good team and think that the fact that they've teamed in the past would help them mesh well.

I actually think that the two of them hate each other in real life, so doubt that they would team tomorrow night.

Unless they mention that it happened before the WWE on TV...then it didn't happen.

Jeff's poetry...eeew--get off the junk, man.

Eh--the match was better than I expected, however, once Hardy was on offense, it began to suck. He blew almost every spot: The reverse Twist of Fate looked crappy, the Whisper in the Wind missed by a mile, the Compactor was sluggish on the execution, and the Swanton--well, Helms moved out of the way, but that is one of the only things he still gets right.

It's really sad to see him out there, but was nice to see the Shining Black, 1, 2, 3, and see Helms get a win.

I just can't understand why they haven't released him yet. Sure, he gets a good pop from the dumbass teeny boppers in the crowd, but if the dumbfuck isn't careful, he's going to end up hurting someone

What makes you think they hate each other?

I read it somewhere online ... and you know, everything that you read on the internet is true.

I truthfully don't really remember, and to be honest I'm far too lazy to search it out. If anyone can prove me right/wrong, it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd just find it amusing if it was true that they hate each other in real life, especially considering they're very popular together. (indicates her 'slash slut' icon)

I got Jeffy's promo on tape, so here's the translation:

I slid with everyone

In the world

Down a rainbow...

*says "down a rainbow" in a singy type of way*

Not really.

We slid down a volcano.

Not really.

I just imagined.

Blame me,

Yours truly,

Jeff Hardy.

Ours truly,

This life...this life...this life.

That was.............interesting. So, yeah, I think it was a poem.

I'm still trying to figure out how Jeff got so deteriorated. I mean he looks like he's in pain while he's out there. RVD does as much "high impact offense" as he does and has been doing it longer and he never looks like he's in constant pain everytime he moves.

Aren't RVD and Jeff's styles a bit different though? The Swanton causes more impact on the back, I would think, while the Frog Splash would have more impact on the stomach.

As for deterioration, I'd say lack of motivation. He does look bored when he goes out to the ring. I read in Matt's interview for wwe magazine that Jeff was supposed to take some time off. But the WWE scrapped the idea when SC left, because they needed all the star power. Giving Jeff time off would do a world of good, imo.

RVD bounces around the ring and jumps off of high things just like Jeff Hardy, that's why I said similar style.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. What I meant by a "bit different" was their finishers. I think Jeff's back might be bothering him, which is just another reason to give him some time off.

Well it seems that Jeff shows pain in his ribs. He may just be selling but he looks like he's in genuine pain holding his stomach even when he's never been touched there the whole match. Plus he seems to show joint pain.

They seem to really not like each other...i've read plenty a Raven interview just bashing Stevie.

RVD has the martial arts background--he's more flexible, so maybe that background, maybe in combination with genetics, made him lucky the way he is. He's rarely injured, he jumps unlike any white man I've ever seen, and he's able to take some wicked bumps and get right back up.

Basically, I think RVD can handle things Jeff just can't. Plus, I think Jeff's into harder drugs than RVD (who just smokes pot to my knowledge).

Plus RVD stretches for, like, 45 minutes before his matches.

Is there any proof that RVD is into drugs?

He's an admitted pot smoker, has done interviews in High Times magazine, the "RVD 4:20" slogan, constant references in ECW...

Yes, plenty of evidence.

Well the whole Raven/Stevie issue goes back many years and includes many layers of jealousy.

I won't tell you the whole story from ECW but I will pick it up in WCW.

Raven and Stevie came to WCW together and were starting a flock, much like the nest from ECW. It began in similar fashion with Stevie bringing in Raven and being Ravens Dancin' sidekick and lackey.

However Stevie had been having chronic neck and back problems, dating back to ECW and was having trouble performing. Bischoff began one of his mid-carder tirades on Stevie for his complaining and Raven sided with the Bisch. There had already been trouble brewing because right before they left ECW Richards had a break out role as the leader of the BWO and was growing in popularity to the point where he was as big as Raven. Needless to say he wasn't exactly thrilled with being Ravens lackey in WCW. After Raven sided with Bischoff Raven and Stevie got into a huge argument, eventually Stevie asked for his release because Raven was his WCW in and without Raven on his side he was nowhere. Stevie returned to ECW at the 1997 November to Remember but was gone weeks later.

Dayum, I wish I started watching back then... *sigh* I doubt you could find tapes of BWO or Dancin' Stevie anywhere, since it's about six years old. But, thanks for the info geniusmoment! :)
