ravenlo 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Last year at a garage sale, I found a bunch of old CV tapes for 2 bucks canadian. I got all 15 of em, too! There was even an old awa tape with sergeant slaughter on the cover...anyways, I think the rarest tapes I got from there were Royal Rumbles 89 and 92, along with Best of the WWF volume 18. Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Well the other local store I left my # with said they weren't ready to sell, as they still rented well, ah well I try again in a couple months
Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I was just wondering if anyone knows if they still regularly sell ECW Barely Legal, on VHS or DVD, at national chains such as Best Buy or Media Play. I was wondering because the tracking on the tape I used to tape the show off of ppv a couple of years ago is begining to suck. Will I need to find it by chance or do most place still sell it? Guest GameCop Report post Posted January 26, 2003 I bought Spring Stampede 1999 (at a local blockbuster) for 1 dollar!!!
Guest res37618 Report post Posted January 26, 2003 Yeah, speaking of the Spring Stampede '99 tape from Blockbuster, I got all of the WCW '99 videos from a Movie Gallery store here in Virginia for $2.99 each, thought that was a decent deal (Souled Out through Starrcade, the entire year), plus got Souled Out, SuperBrawl, and Uncensored 2000 as well. Ended up going back to get the other WCW 2000 videos that were released, except for the elusive Bash at the Beach 2000 vid, the store said they were never able to get it, but I have seen it at other video stores, but they refuse to sell it. While I lived in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, I got a load of tapes from a little local video store, I asked the owner about buying them, and he said "Hell, take as many as you want, $4 apiece. No one ever rents them anymore." Imagine my surprise when I got: Wrestle War 91 Wrestle War 92 Royal Rumble 89, 90, 95 Fall Brawl 94 (personal fave, I actually went to that show) Saturday Night's Main Event's Greatest Hits SummerSlam 2000 Best of the WWF Volume 13 (the one with Honky Tonk's IC title win) SuperBrawl 2 and 3 I was in heaven. Some of those vids sell for upwards of $50 sometimes on eBay, but I can't part with them. It was just too good of a deal to sell away. All in all, I've got a little over 300 wrestling vids, and 95% of them are actual commercial releases, like the ones above. I never got into the tape trading, it was always more of a "cool" deal to me to actually find rare tapes at the local video stores and buy them when possible. Anyway, I've enjoyed reading about your "finds" . . keep them coming!!
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted January 27, 2003 See it pains because between these two local store, First Choice Video and Family Video, there's about 50+ tapes, mostly old Colisseum videos and post 99 WCW tapes which would be worth it for the right price. I suppose I should doublecheck the Blockbusters and Hollywood videos one more time and ask if they're selling, seeing as how most are letting go of their wrestling tapes. Oh well I'll keep updating on my quest to own every wrestling video I can.

Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted January 28, 2003 Knowing me, I'd buy them back on e-bay. Unfortunately for you, the tapes are in a locked safe and being guarded by the recently released Bull Buchanon Version Early 2000. If it makes you feel any better, I've dropped an assload of money on them. I'm guessing between $2,500-3,000 if not, more.

Probably the same here, hell I dropped 100 dollars at that video store that prompted me to start this thread. It's possible I even have something you don't (though I doubt it). I have a new question to ask, how do you convince Blockbuster to sell. They're stubborn bastards.
Guest Karnage Report post Posted January 29, 2003 I hate how some stores put a fixed outrageous price on rental tapes like 99.99 and stuff.

I have a new question to ask, how do you convince Blockbuster to sell. They're stubborn bastards. Yeah, that can be rough. Out of about 5 Blockbusters, I have only been able to purchase SummerSlams 1993 and 1995. Usually, the conversation will go like this: DMann: Excuse me, would it be possible to purchase your wrestling videos? Blockbuster: Yes, we have wrestling videos for sale over there. DMann: No, I mean your older rental videos at the back of the store. BB: Ummm . . . let me check with my manager. (5 minutes of counting ceiling tiles later) BB Manager: Yes, we already had our annual previously viewed videos sale. However, we may be selling them in a month or two so check back. (Code for the only way to own these is to steal them.) But, it's always worth a shot because you never know. BTW, I'm sure you have plenty of videos I don't. And the ones I also have, you probably paid 1/3 of what I did, so it's all good. Many of my videos are WWE Home Videos which are hardly considered rare. If I ever get a scanner, I'll take a pic of my bookshelf full of tapes along with a pyramid of tapes on top the shelf.
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted January 30, 2003 If I ever get a bookshelf, I'll set my tapes up on it and take a photo with my webcam. I was feeling down cause the other places wouldn't let me purchase, but at least they have good rental prices, so I rented Best of WWF 17,18,19 & SummerSlam 93 from one and Wrestlefest 91, Demolition, Insurrextion 2000 & 2001 from another. Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted January 31, 2003 If you have 2 VCRs, dubbing them is just as good if you can't own them. At least you can get 2-4 tapes in one. Of course, having the originals, if possible, is much better though.

Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted January 31, 2003 Excellent collection Dmann. Just one question why in the hell do you have a Nitro Girls video. That's Millenium Man's list, I haven't had the time to catalogue my tapes, though soon I will
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Excellent collection Dmann. Just one question why in the hell do you have a Nitro Girls video. I have a Sgt. Slaughter tape, a Sid Vicious tape, The Ken Patera Story, GLOW, Wrestling's Country Boys, ect. so I don't see why a Nitro Girls tape would be that out of place. But to answer your question, I bought it because it's a wrestling video and that's what I collect. Kimberly and Chae didn't hurt matters either.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted February 1, 2003 I just got Great American Bash '92 off the 'net and the great thing about it is that it's in its original slipcase, with no alterations and it was never a rental. This tape goes for a lot on eBay, but I doubt I'll be parting with it cause you don't get something like this everyday. I also recently got Great American Bash '90 off of eBay, but it didn't come with the original box even though the picture in the auction was one with the box. Still a great show. While I haven't gotten it yet, I did just use the Buy-it-now feature on eBay last night to get RAW: Prime Cuts with original box for $7. Probably one of the best WWF tapes ever. And finally, in the last two weeks or so, I've acquired WWF's Tag Team Champions (86), The Wrestling Classic, Most Embarrassing Moments, and NWA: Danger Zone, all with original boxes. I had them all already, but I got them for a good price, so I'll be reselling them on eBay (couple of them are already up actually) cause I can usually get a good amount for the tapes I sell on there. Just last week I sold CV's Wrestlemania III for $26, despite getting that, Wrestlemania and Wrestlemania 2 for just $14 total. Good times.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted February 1, 2003 I've seen you on ebay, I may have to give them a looksee.
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted February 1, 2003 Yeah I've seen you on there too. I remember you telling me that you've gotten a lot of your videos from eBay, much like I have. Actually, I think we were both bidding on a video a couple weeks back, but I can't remember what it was. I've only got a couple of the videos up right now, but I'm gonna be putting up a few more on Sunday night. Just gotta get around to doing it.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted February 2, 2003 *BUMP* it. Today, I finally found a rental store willing to sell the tapes to me -- "Omni" is a pretty good music store, but they have an underrated video rental section. Since the DVD format has pretty much overshadowed the VHS, the tapes I desired were neatly tucked in the final shelf of the store, behind several UFC tapes. The man who assisted said they were about 7-8 tapes on shelf, 10-20 sitting in the back, while the owner assured to come back and pick up any tapes I wanted, since no one EVER rented them. I mean, with the exception of the usual "rental stickers" and shit, they're relatively new. So today, I picked up the two WWF tapes on shelf:"Wrestlemania 13" and "Maximum Impact" (Canadian Stampede IYH) for $10.00. I wanted to pick up a few of the WCW videos, but I had done no homework on which events stood out, so I left the store and have consulted SK's archives for further info. I'll be able to be there every 4-5 days, so wish me luck. Hopefully there's a few more scores I will make.... EDIT: Here's a few I can remember being on the shelf: Uncensored 1997 (nWo vs WCW vs Piper) Slamboree 1998 (Goldberg/Saturn was all I remembered from the box art.) World War 3 1998 Starrcade 1998 (Nash/Goldberg) Spring Stampede 1999 (DDP's title win)
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted February 2, 2003 I'd definitely make it a point to pick up Slamboree 1998 (Jericho's intros are worth the price) and Spring Stampede 1999 (The first ppv w/ the "NEW" WCW logo and Blitzkreig).
Guest Bruiser Chong Report post Posted February 2, 2003 Those tapes sound like the ones you'll typically see when you go into a video store that still actually carries wrestling videos that aren't brand new. I never watched much WCW so I don't know what's good or not, although everyone I talk to seems to love Spring Stampede '99.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted February 2, 2003 Spring Stampede had a hot crowd and everyone seemed motivated for one reason or another. No one looked like they were just going through the motions; a definite rarity in WCW in that era.
Guest res37618 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 I have now added the following tapes, thanks to our local Movie Gallery store here in northeast Tennessee selling ALL of their wrestling tapes with the exception of WWE from last year to present: WrestleFest 94 Starrcade 1988 Starrcade 1990 Fall Brawl 2000 King of the Ring 1997 All for $4.99 apiece. WrestleFest 1994 rocks, and although KOTR 97 is pretty wretched, it's a fairly rare tape, so I picked it up. Anyone else having any luck on the quest for commercial videos at great prices? LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2003 My real big hit which pushed my collection was a few years ago. I had found a ton of old Colleseum Videos and stuff at a Video Update and they were really cheap. I ended up leaving with 16 videos I got for $40, actually, I got 17 on the day for $41, because of a video I had found earlier. The day had started and I stopped by a Factory 2 U (I still don't know why). I found a Sgt. Slaughter AWA tape with no price, I asked them if they'd sell it to me, so they told me to find a video with a price tag, so I brought up some cheap Crayola video they were charging a dollar for and they said that worked. I went to the Video Update, gotta try to remember the 16 I got that day, that was a great day... Summerslam 1990 Survivor Series 1990 Summerslam 1992 King of the Ring 1993 Summerslam 1993 Survivor Series 1994 Spring Explosion (IYH Feb 96) Wrestlemania 13 WWF SuperTape Vol. 2 WWF WrestleFest 91 WWF Invasion of the Body Slammers World War 3 96 (actually 95, the first one, tape says 96) Hog Wild 1996 Starrcade 1997 (the Hogan-Sting one) Road Wild 98 Uncensored 99 I mean, Video Update does some cut box, but I thought that was a good day, plus I got some rare ones. One place I did really good was this chain that was closing, I found out when I just casually stopped and managed on seperate trips to pick up a bunch of the old stuff, such as Rumbles 89, 91, 92, 93, Survivor Serieses 92, 93, Summerslam 91 and stuff, all for really cheap. A couple bucks a piece. Apparently there was another guy besides me just coming in taking our turns at buying the stuff. There was another one of those stores still open last I knew and I picked up original box copies of Wresltemanias IV and VI for pretty cheap.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted March 26, 2003 *A RESURRECTION BUMP* Since we've left off, I picked up: WWF Supertape 3 WWF Grudges, Gripes and Grunts WWF Slammy Awards 1996 WWF In Your House: Greatest Matches WWF Wrestling Superheroes (featuring a sweet Rude/Piper cage match from MSG) WWF One Night Only WWF St. Valentine's Massacre 1999 WCW Uncensored 1997 WCW Great American Bash 1997 WCW Slamboree 1998 WCW Starrcade 1998 WCW Spring Stampede 1999 WCW Slamboree 1999 All in all, total spent came out to be $75.00, more or less... Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted March 26, 2003 Ah yes, my favorite thread has returned! Since February, I've added WW3 1995, KOTR 1994, 3 Columbia House Videos, RR 1992, WrestleFest 1994, HHavoc 1995 (I'm a sucker for that Hogan beatdown)/97, Women's Championship Wrestling, even Raw: Secrets and Strategies (It was $2) and some more. I think my count including about 10 DVDs is almost 400. I have to wait to get home to see for sure. Oh bravesfan, how 'bout those Jericho intros at Slamboree 1998?
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted March 26, 2003 I haven't added anything yet, the First Choice Video I tried to get sell me some of their videos won't budge. I guess I'll go back to Video News to see if there's anything left worth getting. Lately my 2nd Time CD/Video store hasn't had anything.
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted March 29, 2003 Oh bravesfan, how 'bout those Jericho intros at Slamboree 1998? Oh man, the introductions, especially Silver King and Juventud, were priceless! BTW, have any of you out there heard of these "Beyond The Ring" videos that feature a bloodied Mick Foley on the cover? They may be worth the 2.99 purchase price, considering they promise "massive amounts of blood, horrible injuries and incredible stunts!" There's also a huge amount of UFC tapes at the store I frequent, as well as a few IWA Deathmatch tapes.
