I realize it's just part of his gimmick, but not the main focus of his gimmick. He probably won't make the same comments again.

 

He's the devil that tells you to let go and rebel. It could be a good gimmick if done right.

I'm not abandoning liking him or anything. That specific promo just kind of rubbed me wrong, but not so horrendously that I'm gonna go bitching about it or anything.

 

Overall I think it's a good gimmick, and if he doesn't start sucking in the ring I'll be booing him in the best possible way.

He isn't being what most people would consider satanic. You can't believe in Satan without believing in God

 

He's just telling people that they are their own person so if it makes you happy do it and screw the moral police.

 

It's basically a gimmick based on Anton LaVey's "Church of Satan". Despite the name it's not about worshiping the devil and in fact they don't believe in any type of God. It's a Religion based on the ideal that every person is their own God. Since they are their own man they should do whatever pleases them as long as they don't harm someone who didn't harm them first. Also it's based on the idea that this is your only life and you should live it up as much as humanly possible.

 

This has to be an idea he came up with himself because there's no way McMahon's writers could've came up with it.

 

I just hope it works out for him. This is one of the few times that I've liked someone mainly because they have a good look. He's also decent in the ring so that makes it easier to like him. He's no great technical wrestler but he moves in the ring well and doesn't look like a total slug out there. Also there's much worse guys with a look that Vince could push so just be glad this one isn't a total slug with nothing interesting about him.

I'm digging the promos so far but how will it translate to the arena and more specifically to the ring? Will he just show up and encourage people backstage to steal someone's bag? I like it, but am wondering how they are going to get fans to care.

On the other, he's actively encouraging sin, which is at odds with my Christian beliefs.  Especially his thing last night about whether or not there was a God or whether you should go to church or not and stuff.

I mean, look at this. I'm not a spiritual guy, but what you've got on your TV is simply a television show. If Raw is enough to break your will, then you've got problems. Now I'm not saying that's you or anything, but look at the big picture here.

EDIT: To clarify, however, I think the gimmick itself is a bad idea just because of what it brings to the table. Already at the Rumble they had Lawler going on about how "the man upstairs" will be upset.

 

Now, it was bad enough when WWE showed themselves to be so obviously Republican during SmackDown Your Vote, but they're going to be obviously Pro-Christian as well. That's just what I need, more religion. Maybe HBK and Jericho will become the company's top babyfaces or something.

 

HEY VINCE. The Republican Party used to do fine until a relgious segment started gaining power. Everything in politics were fine until Jeebus entered the picture. Now, if Jeebus can cause that much damage to politics, why should we bring him into wrestling? Huh?

Word around the block is that O'Haire's going to be more of a shit disturber than anything, questioning everything in order to incite anger in the fans, and perhaps the other wrestlers. In that sense, he really will be a "devil's advocate", without all the nasty religious connotations that come along with it. Think of him as a walking, talking GTV, a deus ex machina that might help get storylines moving from A to B and so on.

 

I just hope he's improved in the ring, because what I've seen of him doesn't hold a lot of promise.

For those who were miffed at the Sean O'Haire character questioning the existence of God on Monday night, the word I am getting is that will not be a full time staple of his character.  Instead he will be a "Devil's Advocate" type that questions everything just to stir the pot.

 

...let it be known, that I was the very first person to call him that here, heheheheheh. I love the gimmick, it's something fresh at least.

 

I bet he came up with it also, as someone said before, there's no way WWE conjered this one up.

Yeah, but before his bicep/shoulder/whatever injury, he looked very slow and unsure during his Heat matches, although some of his power moves were impressive. And dark match reports after his rehab haven't looked too favourable either.

This pretty much confirms that he will be a hedonist, one concerned with pleasure. Whether it be lust, greed, etc.

I wasn't ranting about the damn thing. As a Christian it was something that gave me need for pause. I said that I was in no way giving up on the gimmick or anything, in fact I support O'Haire. He has a good look and I liked his ring work from when I saw him a few months ago.

 

Also, I don't see where WWE is being pro Christian at all. Shawn Michaels was vocal about his being a Christian. Oh boy, fire up the hate machine! The whole company's gonna start having Jesus Loves Me matches! Your rant there at the bottom almost speaks of paranoia, which is just strange. I'm glad for O'Haire. He's one of my favorites and it's about time he had something good going for him in WWE.

 

I see his character getting under the fans skins by portraying them as hypocrites. He's basically calling people on their beliefs, whether it be religion, gambling, etc. Almost as if saying "what you do is wrong, so why are you booing me for doing what I do?".

 

Another cool aspect they could bring to the table is that he only targets faces that have heel backgrounds (Goldust and Booker T. come to mind). In that essence, I could see him doing a promo about how the so called "heroes" of RAW lack purity, and he's here to "cleanse our minds" (since we cheer those people).

That mini-rampage was posted at nearly 3AM, and I went to bed shortly after and actually thought to myself "What point was I trying to get across there?"

 

I have to see how the gimmick plays out. It could work well, or it could turn into "BAH GAWD THE BIG MAN WILL GIVE HIM HIS JUST DESERTS WHEN HE REACHES THE PEARLY GATES!!!" If it's the latter, than I have no choice but to shit on this.

 

Let me give you the transcript from the Rumble after his promo aired:

 

JR: Very interesting outlook on life from a very big impressive young athlete.

Lawler: I don't know if interesting is the right word for that. What kind of a.. What kind of train of thought is he on there?

JR: An interesting...

Lawler: The man upstairs might derail that train of thought if he's not careful.

 

Normally, if a bunch of religious people get their panties in a twist, I'm a happy guy. But the fact is that as a non-religious guy, I don't want to have to put up with religion in wrestling shows. I watch wrestling to get AWAY from reality, so that's just not the right place.
