Guest tpww7 Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Raw delivered a 3.9 rating for the return of Vince McMahon last night, its best number since 8/26. wrestlingobserver.com
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 So now they will definately think more McMahon's = ratings
Guest Angle-plex Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Probably because Monday Night Football is over.
Zetterberg is God Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 I guess Linda's showing up next week to give another monotonous voiced annoncement.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 aw crap...Why couldn't it had been ANYONE else returning. Great more Vince.
Guest bob_barron Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Well it's true- Vince did bring in the ratings so maybe the answer is more Vince.
Guest AfricanAmerican Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 as someone said, the increase is probably just the male demographic tuning back in to raw since football on mondays is done
Rob E Dangerously Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 MNF wasn't on last week. We didn't see ratings surge that week. I figure it was a combo of MNF watchers and people who heard about it somehow
Guest bob_barron Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 The ratings increased soley because of Vince. Vince is a ratings draw obviously- especially when he takes 5 month vacations
Guest teke184 Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 And now next week, Vince will defeat new RAW champion Scott Steiner in an impromptu match because he's such a ratings draw. The week after that, the ratings will go below a 3 for the first non-holiday show in years.
Guest The Old Me Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 The ratings increased soley because of Vince. Vince is a ratings draw obviously- especially when he takes 5 month vacations I don't think Vince is a draw. People were just curious. Most probably wanted to see Vince fire Eric.
Guest bob_barron Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 I think Vince is a draw though- It does help that he took a 5 month vacation but I think the storyline he presented will maybe keep viewers tuned in
Guest El Satanico Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Vince's returns to TV after an absence are a draw. Vince himself isn't.
Guest AndrewTS Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 Ahh...so apparently Raw has found it's niche audience in drooling retards and gay men with a penchant for roid monkeys. I repeat, FUCK YOU Raw viewership.
Guest The Old Me Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 I think Vince is a draw though- It does help that he took a 5 month vacation but I think the storyline he presented will maybe keep viewers tuned in I think the angle he is presenting could be a draw. Not himself.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 I've said it before and I'll say it again...the ratings don't mean shit till they get over a 4.0, or go under a 3.0
Guest wwF1587 Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 id just like to apologize for posting a RAW rating post earlier cause i didnt know there already was one... my bad sorry...
Guest midnight_burn Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Vince will draw ratings for a week or two, but then they'll go back down again once everyone sees he'll just be doing the same overplayed shit he's been doing since 1997, Boss vs [insert wrestler or other boss] feud part 345626, giving his rambling drawn-out promos for 20 minutes and yet saying nothing of importance at all. I guess they'll have to cut all those 2 minute Raw matches down to 30 seconds to fit Vince's ego on the show, since he's such a ratings bonanza.
Guest the pinjockey Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Did they give a breakdown? I would like to see what happened after Vince left. You would figure on a night where they are bringing back Vince they would capitalize by booking a big time ME, instead you advertise a moronic bench press contact then have them fight, why not advertise a showdown implying contact, oh wait they already used that card and blew it. And then you book a boring as hell 4-man battle royal. WTF?!? Let's see what the rating is next week.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 You know, I think that last time RAW was in the 4s, was when they had the Guerrero/Van Dam ladder match up in Edmonton. Speaking of ladder matches, given their current states, could Rock and HHH go out their and put on a ladder match like they did at Summerslam 98? This question has the scenario of Rock having shrugged off all of the ring rust.
Guest NoCalMike Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Vince may be a slight draw as long as no one knows what he is up to. Once it turns into another Vince vs. Top Face angle....that is when people will let our a huge groan and click away. I am just hoping that if Austin's return falls through, that they don't decide to turn Triple H face(like he has mentioned) and have him try to be #1 face vs. Evil Boss...if that happens, I may ONCE AND FOR ALL be done with Raw.
Guest ShawnChristian Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 There are two reasons the rating went up. #1 no Monday Night Football #2 Vince's return They did not tune in just to see Vince, people were just curious, I was personally hoping he was announcing a retunr or something but come on this is the WWE what the hell was I thinking. They'll go down again in a week or so, but Vince will prolly remain on television Keep your eyes open, cause i'm a future star.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Hey I was watching just to see what Vince would say. It was the "OMG! Vince has been gone for so long and now he's back! He must have something big to say! Let's find out!" That's what drew the rating. Vince himself did not. But hell like I always say: If I have to have one McMahon on my TV then I prefer it to be Vince.
Guest Mole Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 No, no. You fellas got it all wrong. The ratings went up because Raw last week was so good. It was because of Vince. Vince has always been a draw. If you think about it, Triple-Juice and Vince are the only two big names left from the boom period.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 So, HHH getting de-pantsed by Steiner = ratings..? HHH: "There must-uh be something wrong-uh with those ratings Vince"
