What is the record for "ball dropping"...

Recommended Posts

Guest Downhome

You see, I'm just currious is all. With the tripe that I sat through tonight on TNN (the RAW X "special" if you are in the dark), I must sit back and ask this question. Does WCW hold the record, or would it be someone or something in a totally different industry? Whatever it is, I'm CERTAIN that WWE could compete for the #1 Ball Dropper of all time, don't ya think?

The best thing about the show (besides the tribute to the wrestlers who have passed on), was the crowd in there. I think they put on a better show than WWE did. Everything from the chanting for Pillman, to the booing and saying it was borring and TOTALLY no selling of The Rock's sayings and what not, to the other various chants and stuff from them. I liked the one guy yelling "Edge Sucks" personally, not to mention the other stuff. Those fans really entertained me more than anything else on the show. I mean...

...TLC IV for the best RAW match in an entire decade? Saying Austin wasn't invited? The Rock on video and not live? No Foley at all? Was it REALLY a must to have on the show many of the things shown AGAIN that led to the company being in the rut it's currently in? Did that help anything? I think not! Not to mention they basicly "no sold" anyone who isn't in the company, ugh. (Oh Jesus I could go on, and on, and on, and on about the show tonight!)

Did you guys think about this? Four of the MAIN guys weren't even at the show, those being The Rock, Austin, Foley, and Bret Hart.

How can ANY of us hold onto faith for WWE after the past two years, and now this? How do they expect ANYONE to truly get behind their product? How many times must they "drop the ball" untill they break that world record?

Can someone help me out here? Because, quite frankly, I'm clueless.

Brett hart said he wasn't going to be there. Foley left the company on sour terms. Austin walked out. And Rock is filming a movie.

Your point? If they couldn't at all get even a ONE of these guys on the show, they had no right to put it on anyhow, they could have done just a really awesome RAW or something.

Any one of these guys could have been there, it wasn't like it was impossible. You do know that they didn't really even hardly ASK anyone don't you?

No Bret doesn't surprise me.

Rocky filming movies is exactly why the crowd shouted "boring" and started no selling his catch phrases.

The crowd did, however, expect Foley and Austin to show up since they won awards (which became obvious was a prerequisite for Diva of the Decade. I like Trish, but come on). They expected Bobby Heenan to show up since they'd advertised him being there. They expected this show to mean something. But Downhome's right. Outside of the tribute to the departed superstars (and not to nitpick, but Andre died like two weeks after Raw started and never actually appeared on the show), this was the biggest bunch of crap ever. The first half hour was tolerable because it had some camp value, but that was it.

The thing that really pissed me off (besides the bad choices) is the constant shilling for "Superstars" of the past. WELL WHERE THE FUCK WERE THEY!? Not one single star from any era besides today showed. And let's not forget the bullshit promise of Bobby Heenan.

Brett said he wasn't going to be on the show. So, how could they have gotten him to be there? Stone Cold walked out, and you just all of sudden bring him back, for this show? I would have loved to hear his speech when accepting all of his awards, as to why he hasn't been on TV, in 6 months. Technically Rock was there. And Foley left the company, with some bitterness.

I'll ignore your totally uncessary dissing of Edge and say I agree with you.

While I thought the show was fun the way they handled Austin was pretty bad. Vince saying he didn't invite him pretty much signalled to me and a lot of people: Stone Cold is coming later.

You can't be pissed about Bret since he said he wasn't coming.

RAW X should've watched SNL25 and taken notes. The show should've been planned out more and it should've been a show where everyone would come together in the name of wrestling.

Not a beer bath being a great moment.

If they couldn't have Rocky fly in for ONE NIGHT, for JUST A FEW HOURS, then this is exactly why I would just assume cut him from their fed. They needed him tonight, it was the damned ten year anniversarry of RAW for God's sake.

There is NO excuse for Austin or Foley not being there, or any other fucking suprises. I would have just settled for damned Tataka or something, just ANYTHING damnit, bring on anything for us, the fans. WE are in charge Vince, you stupit munch ass, without us you are BULL SHIT, you best learn this my friend, and learn is QUICK. Because the masses are reaching the breaking point, and when THAT happens, your FEDERATION reaches the official breaking point.

The second hour of this show was pure and utter horse manure. I could have vomited up a better presentation of an awards show. I could have put one together here in my own home better than what I watched. Any of us could I'm sure.

I am pissed, but I must hold faith...

...must hold faith...

...must...

...hold...

...faith.

It's B-r-e-t. I'll agree with you there.

The whole debate over Stone Cold aside- the way they HANDLED it on the show was complete jackshit and was pretty much teasing everyone.

They could've flown Rock in for one night instead of having him cut a boring boring boooooooooooooooooooring promo.

Foley did leave with some bittnerness- duh. It's called mending fences this show was supposed to be a special show

That's exactly what was wrong tonight. How can this truly be called an anniversary show when half the people who helped make it possible aren't even there? This ego and political BS is really pissing me off.

I just can't get over how they could give a "greatest matches" award away and not actually nominate any great matches. Where was Flair-Perfect? Bret-Kid? Jericho/Benoit-Austin-HHH? Angle-Austin? The 10-man tag from 2000? Anything pre-Russo?

I'm wondering how can they attempt a show at history when WWE does what it can to erase and rewrite history constantly. The choices were all political and this just furthers my drive to get more ROH and more puro in my life than I already have.

By the way, it wasn't JUST Bret, Austin, Foley, and Rock. There are PLENTY of guys from the early days that could have, and should have been there. There is NO excuse to disrespect the past as they did. I mean...

...TLC IV AS THE DAMNED MATCH OF THE DECADE!?

You mean wrestling existed before 1997? Wow, you could have fooled me, watching tonight.

We "the fans" voted for that stuff.

We voted for Vince basically burying Austin??

We voted for Rock being there via satellite?

We DID vote for the moments but nothing else.

And they wonder why smarks are cynics?

It's just realism due to long periods of bullshit from the companies and broken promises.

Even Downhome is losing his optimism. :P

No the fans didn't, the only thing the fans voted on was the moment of the decade. Is that not correct?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

There is no excuse for Jeff Hardy Vs. Taker to be on ANY list, unless it's on a list of the most bull shit, bad matches ever.

Yes it is. I never heard anything about the fans voting for the awards. What a bunch of crap to shift blame for all their bad choices

The thing I found funny about the TLC 4 match being the top moment was that not only wasn't even the best match on Raw this year (let alone decade), it wasn't even the best match with ladders in it. Even one of the participates(RVD) was in a better match *with* ladders in the match this year. Interesting, ain't it?

They had 10 years of memories and couldnt produce anything older thdn what 3 years old, or any stars that werent from thd last 4, I think we have a winner in ball dropping, there was SO SO SO MUCH they could have done, but they ignored it all.

A RAW moment that wasnt even covered and is something I along with alot of others STILL remember is the 123kid win over Ramon, that was a HUGE shocker and wasnt even mentioned, or so i read.(I think it was from raw.)

I agree JHawk.

UNDERTAKER V. JEFF HARDY??

I watched that match again and almost fell asleep.. there is no frickin way thats even a candidate for match of the decade... same for austin/kane... another two hours of my life were wasted on the hope that perhaps Foley/Austin/Rock would return in person but no.... and the rock really has no excuse... what was the point of the show... awarding some dumb trophies to guys who werent there or arent even part of the company just so Mr.McMahon can get a cheap shot in or two or maybe get another reason to see HHH's bare ass. BAH... this show stank of WCW.. it just seems like something they would put on... Vince really needs to retire and give his company to shane... hes lost it.

I'm sure there must've been a kick-ass tag match from the early years, what with the Steiners and Quebecers hanging around, that could've been better than Kane beating everybody.

After tonight I have no faith in WWE and I don't plan on watching another WWE show ever again unless Vince gets a lobotomy, and/or they fire Triple H and all of the current writing staff...

It was briefly featured in a video package.

Eh. I cannot I was disappointed too much by the show. I REALLY was not expecting much of it. It just seemed poorly done and planned out. Like when Foley won an award, shouldn't he have been there to accept it at least?

It was like, 'What's the point of this?" I am sure some smarks and older fans would be like, "Wow! This is the 10 year anniversary of Raw!" but why make such a big deal out of basically nothing? Why all the hype when not much was delivered? It was just a bunch of guys on the current roster doing whatever. Boring.

Props to the crowd though, they made it entertaining in a trainwreck sort of way, like when they booed the Rock. It just added to what was surely going to end up a crapperific night.

To their credit, I did mark out for one thing though: Brock Lesnar doing the happy dance in a suit. Thanks Brock.
