“Well doc, it’s like this…”

HVT lies on one of those long chairs that are symbolic of a psychiatrists office, and to his left is a sharply dressed man taking notes on a legal pad.

(HVT) – I keep dreaming about that night when I broke my neck. I’ve been dreaming about it for a while now, as you know…but this time, it was weird. There was another person in it this time.

(Doc) – And who was that?

(HVT) – This guy, Suicide King.

(Doc) – What was he doing in the dream?

(HVT) – Well, it just a replay of some of the stuff he was saying to me last time we spoke. Do you watch?

(Doc) – No, can’t say that I do. What was he saying?

(HVT) – Well, essentially, he was saying that I’d gone soft or whatever. He was saying that I’ve changed…

(Doc) – Have you?

(HVT) – I don’t think I have, at least not that much.

(Doc) – I see. Well, tell me a little bit about this Suicide King. Who is he? Why do you think he was in your dream?

(HVT) – I don’t know doc. He’s the commissioner of the SWF, you know, the wrestling federation where I work. We’ve fought a couple of times, but that was a long time ago.

(Doc) – Before your injury?

(HVT) – Yeah…

(Doc) – So, he’s in a position of power. What is your relationship with him like? Are you friends?

(HVT) – I guess we were a long time ago. But then we became enemies, and…I don’t know…he’s kind of a jackass.

(Doc) – Do you value his opinion of you?

(HVT) – No, not really…

(Doc) – Then why are you reliving what he said about you?

(HVT) – I don‘t know. I thought that’s what you were supposed to figure out.

(Doc) – You don’t need me to figure that out. I think you already know the answer.

(HVT) – What’s happening to me?

(Doc) – I don’t know Damien. You had a pretty bad injury, and it’s pretty common for people to be a bit more cautious after an injury. Do you do the same things you used to do before the injury?

(HVT) – Well, some. I mean, I’m not jumping off of scaffolds onto people like I used to, but I mean…I can’t be that reckless with my body. And this is a business…I can’t be that reckless with other people’s bodies.

(Doc) – I see…so, you had a more carefree approach before, huh?

(HVT) – I guess I did…yes.

(Doc) – So, do you think you’re more careful now?

(HVT) – Well, yes…I guess, but like I said…

(Doc) – Stop. I know why you are more careful, I just want you to see that you are more cautious. Earlier, you said that you hadn’t changed, but it seems to me, like you did.

(HVT) – If I did, then it’s most certainly for the better, right?

(Doc) – I don’t know…you tell me.

(HVT) – I…I…I don’t know. I think my injury showed me that even though I’m big and everything, I’m still human. And, there’s a really good chance I won’t be in this business that much longer. I’m just trying to take care of myself and get paid now, before it’s too late.

(Doc) – And are you happy with that?

(HVT) – Uhhhh…yeah? No? I don’t know…It’s work…

(Doc) – Do you have fun?

(HVT) – I don’t know…I guess…I mean, it’s a different kind of fun. I’m hanging out with models all the time, and I have a phat ride…

(Doc) – That’s a nice life, but I want to know if work is fun. Is wrestling fun for you now?

(HVT) – Ummm..wow…I don’t really know doc. It’s different than it was before…I was at the top, and I was having a great time.

(Doc) – You know…it’s always hard to come back after an injury like that. I think you need to find out what made wrestling fun for you before your injury and try to find out how to make it fun again.

(HVT) – I didn’t say it wasn’t fun…

(Doc) – Yes, I know you didn’t say that, per say…it’s more about what you didn’t say. You didn’t say it was fun either, which leads me to believe that it’s not really that fun for you. You like the cars and the women and the money, but it seems that your heart isn’t into wrestling anymore…not like it was before at least.

(HVT) – Maybe you’re right doc…

::BUZZZZZ::

(Doc) – Ok, we’re out of time today, but here’s what I want you to do. I’m going on vacation for 3 weeks, so I want you to take that time to think about when this was fun for you. Think about what you did…think about what you said…think about who your friends were…and I’ll see you when I get back.

(HVT) – What do I do about the dreams doc? I’m not getting any sleep.

(Doc) – If my theory is right, the dreams will stop when you start having fun again.

(HVT) – I hope so…

Both men stand up, shake hands, and exchange pleasantries before Thugg exits the room. The doctor sits back down, scribbles some notes, and then thinks outloud.

“Yeah…it’s really sad to see a man so large be so soft. What a puss.”

End.

I'm sorry, Thugg. But the mental image of a guy your size sitting in a psychatrists office and babbling to the doctor is hilarious. It makes me think of a Loney Toons short...

HVT: "It all started when dad took me to the fair as a kid, yo..."

Doctor: "Interesting." ::plays Tic-Tac-Toe in his notes::

Heh. Though the promo got the point across: Thugg really IS snuggly, Downey soft, these days. :D

I loved this promo. It was a straight, simple way to relate Thugg's mental state and expand on some of the elements I picked up from the first Storm of the year, that Thugg isn't the same person as he was before. I think the last line of the Doc really detracts though and is uncalled for. Even with no one else in the room that is very unprofessional and it puts negative energy on the doc when he is, and should be, no more than a simple plot device.

I agree with Frost, the last line sort of beats you over with the head with the notion that HVille is a weanie now. The promo itself already got that over and the doctor saying that at the end would be like watching Citizen Kane and having a guy come on at the end and say, "See kids, money isn't everything."
