Guest bob_barron Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Who is this HGH character???? I'm suprised Angle won over Eddy since I heard Eddy was tearing it up on the indies before he came back
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Who is this HGH character???? I'm suprised Angle won over Eddy since I heard Eddy was tearing it up on the indies before he came back Okay Bob im unsure if your being sarcastic or not so i'll act as though your unaware of who HGH is. HGH = Human Growth Hormone, a term Smarks use for their beloved Triple H. Get it? ...yeah, don't feel left out, Anglesault only let me in on the whole thing like, last week. UYI - Just feel over trying to moonwalk.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Worst Promotion - XPW. Well what do you know, this guy DOES know what he's talking about
Guest Youth N Asia Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Worst Promotion - XPW. Well what do you know, this guy DOES know what he's talking about
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Bob Sapp as Rookie of the Year? WTF? The guy by all accounts sucks ass in the ring and has only actually wrestled 3 matches in a pro wrestling context this year. Meltzer must've been high when doing up that one.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 By all reports Bob Sapp took the Pride Hvy champ Nogiera to the limits and if it wasn't for conditioning he would have won the match. He also beat the Ernesto Hoost (one of the most decorated kick boxers ever) TWICE *in* kickboxing and is the #1 draw in the country.... Name a rookie who has done better? (Dave mingles MMA and pro wrestling together - why else would Ortiz/Shamrock - a one fight feud - win?) This Angle love is starting to bother me. From Jeff Marek saying that he will be the greatest of all time to Meltzer putting him Wrestler Of The Year - Kurt Angle. Most Outstanding Wrestler - Kurt Angle. Best On Interviews - Kurt Angle. Best Technical Wrestler - Kurt Angle. Readers Favorite Wrestler - Kurt Angle. Worked Match Of The Year - Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle v Rey Misterio and Edge, 20/10/02. I mean COME ON. I'd put Benoit and Eddy above Angle in terms of 'outstanding' wrestler (esp. Eddie, who totally came back to the WWF better than ever), I can't recall one single memorable Kurt Angle promo, and I don't really recall his 'technical abilities' being all that outstanding (yes he CAN do it, but I don't think he HASN'T done it all THAT well). I like angle, but this is starting to turn me off...
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 I can understand Angle as Readers Fave, but Outstanding and Best Technical should go to Guerrero and Benoit, in that order. Even though they both came back halfway through the year, both Benoit and Guerrero have had just as good (if not better) matches then Angle has. Angles goofy selling and sometimes blatant disregard of psychology knocks him down a notch in my book.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 [Jerry=on]Who ARE these readers? And what are they doing not voting for Benoit or Guerrero? What's the deal with that? [/seinfeld] Angle is good, but Benoit and Guerrero are just on another level completely. I don't think Angle will ever reach that level in the WWF either.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Best Television Announcer - Mike Tenay. What the HELL? The guy who screams himself breathless during X matches? His voice is grating when he's really worked up. Glad to see Booker T win Most Underrated. I was afraid RVD was going to steal it. Urgh.
Zetterberg is God Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Worst Match Of The Year - Trish Stratus and Bradshaw v Jackie Gayda and Christopher Nowinski, 8/7/02. Well at least there's one award that should merit no discussion. Sure there might have been more boring matches, but nothing pales in comparison to this embarassment to wrestlers everywhere. Just because Jackie Gayda worked through a knee injury does not make her a competent wrestler.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 That match is so brutally bad. "Mercifully, it's over."
Guest Basswitch Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 At least Mattitude got the best gimmick. By far... that was the WWE's best gimmick in 2002.
Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted January 18, 2003 Report Posted January 18, 2003 Sapp isn't a rookie; he worked Wildside in 2000.
Guest Dangerous A Posted January 19, 2003 Report Posted January 19, 2003 Meltzer must've been high when doing up that one. The readers of the Newsletter are the ones who vote for this stuff. Meltzer just tallies the votes and has little to do with the outcomes except suggest some candidates a month before. While Sapp sucks in the ring as a worked match person, he is a legit threat in the MMA world, which has weight in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter year end awards.
