LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2003 Ok, if the WWE would by some miracle decide to drop their big time stars like The Rock, HHH, Undertaker, STone Cold, Scott Steiner,HBK do you think they would be better off and would it be better or worse for business......Business wise they wouldnt have the megastar to hit the media stream and have a ton of coverage. I do however think it owuld be better if they were without these superstars. No politics, no refusals to job. I could live with Jericho, Booker T, RVD, Brock, Benoit, Angle, Guerrero, Edge headlining PPV's and tv and think the morale would be much better and the wrestling itself would improve greatly. Of course the guys have guaranteed contracts so it's doubtful this would ever happen, but to be honest i'd be happy if it did. LEt me know what you guys think? Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 16, 2003 For the love of HHH, YES. I have been arguing this point for over a year now. The company can not and will not grow out of the hole while the top guys are still here. They aren't going to suddenly draw again and they aren't going to step down. I love to repeat myself so here we go: The two most successful periods in WWE history: The Hogan era and the Austin era. Was Bob Backlund and Superstar Billy Graham around to prevent Hogan from being the top guy? Was Shawn Micheals and Bret Hart...or even Hogan or anyone in between around to prevent Austin's character from being THE UNDISPUTED TOP GUY? Nope. So we'll wait as HHH and Taker and whoever else Vince thinks the answer is prevents any actual progress.
Guest teke184 Report post Posted January 16, 2003 If Vince got his head out of his ass and pushed people the fans WANT to see, they'd at least have fresh faces to work with even if they didn't become another Austin, Rock, or Hogan. Booker T and RVD come to mind because both are at least passable in the ring and get sizable reactions. Hell... RVD got a HUGE reaction at Raw X during an award he wasn't even nominated for or presenting. A monkey with a dartboard could book any combination of Booker T, RVD, Jericho, Brock Lesnar, Eddy Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, Edge, Rey Misterio, Kurt Angle, and Chris Benoit in a way that the fans will enjoy. Well... that may be a slight exaggeration considering the combinations of the Smackdown 6 that have been exhausted by Heyman, but there is enough talent right there that they could put on good matches at the top of the card and, with proper writing, turn several of them into superstars. Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 16, 2003 Yup, as he's said time and time again.. Step one of the bps recovery plan: Fire Taker and HHH. The rest I see no real reason for, but I say job these guys and boot them to the curb. Taker had damn well be entering his last run, and shouldn't be around any longer than Backlash IMO. HHH might be tougher to ditch...
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 16, 2003 Vince is already prepping the superstars of the future: Brock Lesnar, Batista, and Nathan Jones! Joy!!
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 16, 2003 Nathan Jones won't last the year. He'll hurt someone high profile enough to warrant a canning.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2003 Getting rid of every big guy to improve ratings wouldn't work so well. The issue is that there was something that caused a ratings dip. Just getting rid of other superstars won't help the 3.9 ratings stay at 3.9 The best way is to use your foundation to build, not to bulldoze your house and rebuild on the same spot
Guest teke184 Report post Posted January 16, 2003 Considering he's already got an attitude problem and has hurt Jeff Jarrett during a match before, that's a safe guess BPS. No matter what I or anyone else think of Jarrett, he IS a good worker in the ring and has not, to my knowledge, been involved in ANYONE getting injured. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted January 16, 2003 Other than Rock & Austin, the WWF would be better off without them. Rock is helpful when is around, and Austin causes problems, but can be useful for awhile.
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2003 To be honest i would take Batista and Nathan Jones over HHH and Taker any day. How about ending this roster split, and you can have some great feuds with good workers.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 17, 2003 If they don't fuck up Rock's return to the heel section there should be some money in that. But they'll fuck it up anyway.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 17, 2003 I can tie that Jarrett comment into this topic too. Jarrett, to me is the ultimate midcard heel. When I think IC champion or top midcard heel...I think of Jarrett. When he went to WCW for his last run there, Russo wanted him to be the top guy. That's fine. Turning solid midcarders into top guys is a good idea. Russo booking over there not withstanding...here's a major roadblock they ran into: The top guys in WCW don't work very often and they certainly aren't going to put someone else over when they do. Did JJ ever beat Goldberg? Nash? Hogan? Nope. Hell, Hogan out and out refused. Instead they had to try and tow the line around those guys with Booker T, JJ and Scott Steiner, none of whom ever got any serious rub from anyone but an aging Flair (who'll job to anyone) or each other. Present Day: Who's giving the rub to RVD, Edge and the like? Flair and Angle? Flair's past his prime by a long shot and Angle never got anything from anyone above him that meant anything in his own right. the cycle continues.
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2003 I agree with your comment on JArrett BPS. He make s agreat midcard heel and even main eventer down the road. Especially if he was working with guys like Benoit, Angle, Booker T, RVD, Eddie guerrero.....he'd be a great addition.
