Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted January 18, 2003 I'm tired of seeing nothing but XPW news, so I decided to do something about it. DE CARD~! (Subject to change depending on who no-shows or are abducted by aliens, blah blah blah) CZW World Heavyweight Championship The Messiah © vs. Nick Gage Should be interesting to see how well these two men work together. I downloaded the ME from One More Time (Pain/Messiah/Gage), but haven't watched it yet. I don't know why either. My pick: Jeevus retains. Big Japan Deathmatch Title Fans Bring The Weapons (Provided there is no barbed wire or lightbulbs) Nate Hatred vs. Nick Mondo vs. Zandig I don't know why Zandig is in here. In theory, it is to add credibility since whomever wins would have gone over a former holder of the BJDM belt, but no one really cares about it. Mondo should win, but my money is on Hatred, to add fuel to the upcoming split between him and Gage. CZW Junior Heavyweight Title Trent Acid © vs. Ruckus Another round between these two. However, they haven't faced each other since Answering The Challenge in Feb. 2002 with Winger involved, and mano-e-mano since Cage of Death 3. Ruckus has gotten better, but I think there would be more buildup to Acid finally losing the JR. heavy belt. Since there hasn't been, I don't see Acid losing it tonight. I thought Sonjay Dutt would have won it last month at One More Time, but he obviously didn't. Acid over here, by the skin of his teeth, but all this could change depending on the next match. #1 Contendorship to the Junior Heavyweight Title Sonjay Dutt vs. Chri$ Ca$h These two last faced off at One More Time with Jody Fleisch. Sonjay's popularity is exploding and Cash is starting to get over as a heel. My gut instinct is that if Sonjay wins, Acid retains over Ruckus. If Cash wins, Ruckus goes over, but drops it to Cash when they face off. I'm going to roll the dice and say Cash goes over by nefarious means. Baseball Bat is Legal Match Johnny Kashmere vs. Ric Blade Every match is do or die for Ric Blade in CZW. After coming back at Cage of Death 4 for the TLC match with Nick Mondo against the Backseat Boyz, Blade also faced and lost to Kashmere at One More Time. He's been solid in those two matches, which is beneficial to his stay in CZW. All it takes is one bad match, hell, one badly blown SPOT for the CZW fans to turn against Blade again. If Blade can keep putting on solid matches and avoid hurting himself and others, Blade can stay around. Oh yeah, I think Blade goes over here, since Kashmere has taken the last two. We'll throw Blade a frickin' bone here. More matches to be announced. Obviously, the Pain situation threw a bit of a cramp into this card, but it seemed to awaken CZW has they started to announce more matches, and added the Fans Bring The Weapons stip; always a crowd pleaser. The big deal tonight is that XPW and CZW are going head to head. XPW has Viking Hall, CZW has a new building, and whomever draws more attendance has bragging rights. My pick? Tie. Too close to call. I'm going with 400-500 for both companies. XPW drew what, 250 for their last show? Like people said, it was a Friday show. It'll be close to even attendance, or too close to make a fair judgment. Both sides and their fans will claim victory, and this squabble will most likely continue. Thoughts?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 18, 2003 I'm tired of Acid/Ruckus...and Ruckus is too damn big to be a jr heavyweight. Bet they'll outdraw XPW's last show 225-250 (hope you cashed thatc check, Justice) I can't watch Chris Cash...green motherfuckin spot monkey spaz Doesn't look bad though...would rather see it then any XPW card
Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted January 18, 2003 As far as the card goes: Gage/Messiah should be very, very good. Messiah can take anything Gage throws at him, and Gage has a far more spectacular offensive arsenal than Pain (The guy Messiah best meshed with in CZW; keep in mind I haven't seen Mondo/Messiah from EPIC yet.) All the makings of a very fun brawl. Gage will lose this match, possibly through botched Hatred interference. Pain/Hatred/Mondo: I really hate seeing Mondo get thrown to the vampires every time CZW needs a hot match for their card. The guy is a very good straight/spot wrestler and I want to see him last longer than another year, which I've heard rumors is when he's calling it quits if he keeps doing deathmatches. That said, this WILL be really sick. Zandig most likely inserted himself into this match to up the frequency and intensity of the bumps, but he's not going over. Hatred will go over to further set up a H8 Club feud. Ruckus vs. Acid: Two possible reasons why the belt has been on Acid this long-1. He's arguably the biggest star in CZW and the most credible junior heavyweight in the US that's not a full-time ROH competitor. 2. He has a legitimate claim to the BJPW Jr. title, since he never lost it, and CZW still has a hard-on for Japanese titles, even from a garbage fed like BJPW. I still say that CZW should bring in Homicide for a one-night 2-fall match for both belts and have Homicide win the BJPW fall and Acid the CZW fall-thus clearing up the mess and making everyone look good. Finally getting back to the match, on TV they've made a big deal about Ruckus not getting a shot at Acid since COD3, so I think he's finally going over here to finally make the jr. division fair game and use Acid to plug the hole Pain left. Kashmere vs. Blade- Kashmere is the best all-around worker CZW has, so I'm sure he'll reign Blade in and ensure his good match/no screwup ratio stays at 100% since returning. Blade'll go over, since they have to balance out the wins on this feud a little bit. Cash vs. Sonjay- I think Sonjay rules (see my avatar) and Zandig knows how over he is, but CZW is intent on pushing Cash as a junior threat. I don't dislike Cash like YNA, but I don't see what he has that GQ doesn't. If anything, GQ has a more marketable look. Cash goes over, setting up Ruckus/Cash for the next show, which should be good. Chunk 0 Report post Posted January 18, 2003 It looks like a good card, but I would be honest and say that the whole who can draw the most fans battle excites me more. Cant wait to see how the fans turn out. Big Japan Deathmatch Title Fans Bring The Weapons (Provided there is no barbed wire or lightbulbs) lol ChUnK!
Guest meanmaisch Report post Posted January 19, 2003 The reason Chris Cash is pushed and GQ is not is because of the time each spends working at the CZW school. GQ attends classes at Rutgers University in New Brunswick and thus can't always attend workouts and training on an every day basis. Cash, on the other hand, does not attend school, thus has more time for training and what not. Thus, it can be perceived by some that Cash has more heart and passion for the business than GQ and should be pushed accordingly. Nevermind the fact that GQ is working towards a degree that will actually give him career opportunities outisde of wrestling.

I wish they'd try and make these kids work matches minus 20 spots, just to see if they can do it.
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted January 19, 2003 I was there for this show. Apart from some boring shit, it was really fun the whole time. No real standout matches workrate wise, though.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted January 19, 2003 To the best of my knowledge. Once again, from the czwfans board, because I have yet to master my ability to teleport to Philly at will. I will keep training, however. Sonjay Dutt d. Chri$ Ca$h to win #1 Contendorship for the CZW Jr. Heavyweight belt. Big spot came when both men were hanging on the rafters above the ring, about 15 feet, and Sonjay kicked Ca$h to the mat below. I'm guessing like a scaffold fall, not D-Von's TLC hanging from the belts bump on steroids. Greg Matthews and Z-Barr d. Hurricane Kid and Rick Feinberg. Matthews hits Hurricane Kid with a powerslam as Z-Barr DVD's Feinberg for the win. Ian Knoxx d. Adam Flash. Flash hit Last Call (top rope legdrop) on Knoxx and had the cover, when Z-Barr ran out and hit Flash with a chair and put Knoxx on top, giving Knoxx the win. Chris Styles, Knoxx's partner in the Irish Drinking Team, came out and argued with Knoxx, teasing a breakup, but Flash belted Styles with the chair. Knoxx and Flash celebrated after the match. Note: Some reports of the night had Styles joining what is left of Lobo's army (Z-barr, Matthews, I'm guessing Rebel). I'm not sure. I'm also not sure where Doomsday Danny Rose was. Nick Berk in a special submissions match. Berk comes out and bitches about not knowing who is opponent ever is. Derek Frazier comes out, Berk makes him tap in about 90 seconds. Eric Tuttle comes out looking like Justice Pain, with the blonde hair and I'm guessing hardcore tiny pants. Tuttle goes for a Pain Thriller, Berk blocks, makes Tuttle Pain tap out. Christian Wolf (CZW student) also showed up and tapped out. Two more students come down, Berk makes them both tap. (one at a time, not a 2-1 situation.) Corey Kastle (Described by some as the standout CZW student) came out and also was forced to tap. Berk says that Jon Dahmer (CZW head trainer) did a shitty job of training the kids. Dahmer comes out, leading to... Nick Berk d. Jon Dahmer. Berk makes Dahmer tap in about 7 minutes. Students attempt a beatdown after the match on Berk, Berk gets away. I'm guessing Berk's gone heel. Johnny Kashmere vs. Ric Blade. Pre-match, Backseats cut a promo. Kashmere cuts a baseball bat-related promo, but ultimately says he won't compete tonight. (legit reason, Kashmere apparently hurt his back lifting earlier this week) Acid says after he beats Ruckus, he'll retire the Big Japan Jr. Heavyweight belt. Ric Blade d. GQ: baseball bats are legal match. GQ is introduced as Kashmere's protege, as I'm guessing New School (Cash and GQ) has been broken up or something. Blade wins after a Drug Bomb off the top, through a table. Ruckus d. Trent Acid, new CZW jr. Heavyweight champion. MOTN. Fake finished galore, had the crowd eating out of their hands. Acid attempts to leave, Sonjay forced Acid back into the ring, Cash runs in and takes Sonjay and himself out of the picture. Ruckus pins Acid after a rollup. Ruckus did leave the BJW Jr. belt on Acid, meaning that a possible unification match between BJW Jr. Heavyweight champs (Acid and Homicide. Homicide is recognized as the legit BJW champ) might happen. In our wildest dreams. Messiah d. Nick Gage, retains CZW Heavyweight Championship. Wild building brawl, Messiah wins after a Godsmack. Apparently, he also cut a heel promo after the match as well. See how that one turns out. Nate Hatred d. Zandig, Nick Mondo, BJW Deathmatch Championship, Fans Bring The Weapons. Over at the czwfans board, there was a drive (started all of friday night) to bring as many thumbtacks to the show as possible. i believe they had between 13,000-15,000 thousand thumbtacks. Other disturbing fan-brought weapons as well. Hatred powerbomb Mondo through a mousetrap board, and gave Zandig an overhead belly-to-belly suplex through a nails board (i'm guessing carpet tack strips), pinning Zandig for the win. Post show, Zandig said next show is Feb. 8th, which is running against ROH's uber-stacked Queens Show, I believe. Zandig said that he is bringing in a tag team we all "like." (Da Hit Squad? Overboys?) Three or four other wrestlers we "like." (B-Boy will be one, but Necro Butcher? Homeless Jimmy? Who else?) And a deathmatch that will be "pretty good." (Gives more fuel to the idea of bringing in Necro or Jimmy, or maybe Toby Klein.) Overall, seems like a solid show. Attendance pegged between 400-500, about what XPW drew, meaning my prediction of both feds drawing about the same is probably right.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2003 Sounded like a pretty good show. Can't wait to see who Zandig brings in for their next show. B-Boy is obviously one of them, but I don't know about anyone else. Does anyone know Johnny Kashmere's condition?
