So...after losing to Angle, Chris Benoit gets a standing ovation from the crowd...

 

And Scott Steiner gets booed because he sucks. It took one match for the crowd to turn on him. Who DIDN'T have that one in the pool?

 

I can't wait to see what happens now. Can Vince push Benoit right back down to the midcard and keep pushing Steiner since there was no real finish to his title match?

Benoit should get one more shot, because he took Angle to the limit tonight. And with Steiner, I could give a fuck. I'd be pissed if I was Vinnie Mac now because the fans are slowly turning against Steiner, and this signing is slowly making Vince look like a fool.

Benoit will probably stay around the main events playing his part in the Lesnar/Angle feud, while Steiner will either continue to feud with HHH as a face, fans be damned, or he'll turn heel and squash RVD, one of the two.

I wonder if they will play it up. They have acknowledged benoits passion, but they haven't really FOCUSED on it. Not like HBK's "boyhood dream". They need to have Benoit come out and start smackdown have the crowd cheer him (show some of the match before the show begins including the standing ovation) and have him cut a promo - get inturrupted and mocked by Angle to add some sympathy for Benoit (which he didn't have going in) and heat on Kurt. Have Benoit trying to stay strong, but he just can't. They really gotta focus on his passion to win. Have the announcers talk about how he left WCW and being champ there to get to the WWF. How he has wrestled for 15 years and all that.

 

Then have Benoit vs. Brock set up either for this week or next week - and have team angle and angle and company come in and totally destroy both men. Have Edge come in for the save, but get beat down as well. Set up for a big multiman match for No Way Out.

Can Steiner be salvaged at all? From what I heard the fans didn't react to him, plus, like so many others, he couldn't really beat HHH the way it counted. Like so many before him. His chance to establish credability has come and gone.

 

And if he's a heel, can he do anything besides two minute squash jobs?

One of the few times that the WWF doesn't book on a napkin the day of the event (Steiner - HHH) is blowing up in their face.

 

That's what you get when you expect two guys with one good leg between them to carry one of your shows.

great moment, & it made me very happy to see my hero get that kind of respect from everybody. appropriate that this was the last time it's happened since eddie got the ovation on smackdown.

 

sadly, this will probably go down as the peak of benoit's success in north america. at this point, i really don't see him getting any closer to the top than he got tonight.

 

and i say trade steiner to smackdown & feed him to benoit. just have benoit retire him and be done with it.

I honestly felt bad for Scott. I'm no big fan of his, but I NEVER saw that coming. He's been inlong matches before. He's been in decent matches with Booker, Page and Goldberg, but that was sickening. I saw a lot of fear in his eyes especially after the botched powerbomb. He knows who runs things in the back and he damn near killed Trips. I think he'll get another shot, but that really hurt his chances of ever holding the title.

Steiner... hell F HIM... and F Vince for hiring this piece of crap... the match itself with GOD wasnt all that good (though better than i expected) and the finish pissed me off... a dream match at one time for fans.. crap or not there is better ways to end it than a frickin DQ... if (when) he gets his rematch... i hope he frickin tears his foot off....

Since he isn't Angle or Brock...he won't really be in position to capatalize on that...and all the heels on SD! are Big Show and A-Trian anyway. Rhyno is coming back soon right?? And so is Kanyon and Austin so those are three feuds right there. I only want Austin back if we get Benoit v. Austin at WM- that would rule.

 

I can understand signing Steiner but giving them 17 minutes was just beyond stupid

The crowd was booing Steiner and chanting for Triple H before the bell even rang, so to blame his ringwork for the fans turning on him is kind of silly. The Boston fans knew who they wanted to win, and it was their hometown boy, Triple H. Like it or not.

 

As for Benoit, in these past few month, I have to say, this is the first time i've seen Benoit get really over in the WWE. He's got a lot of milage as a main event player if they play their cards right.

Well if this were the Steiner of '92, I'd say let them wrestle each other. Too bad Steiner sucks now thought, because he was THE man back in the early ninenties. It seemed like he used a new suplex every match.

Well, I never heard a thing of the Rumble so The Steiner Hate is a shock to me here.

 

It seemed they did the ending quickly to Turn Steiner heel. We have to see what happens outside of Boston before they turn him cause Boston was likely cheering for hometown boy.

 

I am expecting An 8 Man tag match at NWO

Brock, Beniot, Edge and Rey Vs Angle, Haas, Benjamin and Show.

 

Likely if Austin returns, Beniot can rip into Austin with a Desire love speech and they can try their damnest to make Austin heel. Most likely, Beniot goes over Matt Hardy at Mania.
