Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted January 20, 2003 My apologies if this is contained in the "One and Only Royal Rumble Thread", but I've gotta jet and no way I'm looking through a 20+-page thread. Anyway, my main pick is Nunzio. Because of my schedule, I don't get to watch Smackdown!, and I've yet to actually see Nunzio in the WWE, and while I'm sure he's no different, even though I and the audience would know he'd never win, it'd be nice for them to give one of their newer acquired talents that little bit of extra exposure in the Rumble (or maybe even have Knoble in and have Nunzio take a Shannon Moore-ish role of interfering to keep him in the Rumble). Plus they could get cheap "EC-DUB" heat. My other pick would be Rico, simply because I had to see both of Three Minute Warning, and each time the music played I wanted it to be Rico w/ one of the Island Boyz as "special enforcement". Alas, it wasn't meant to be.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I think Rico accompanied one of them to the ring... I didn't watch, so I can't confirm that. Also Hurricane wasn't in the Rumble.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Drew Carrey. A little comedy here in there can be a good thing.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I wanted to see Rhyno come back and gore the fuck out of everyone
Guest Ace309 Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I was surprised that they didn't bring in the OVW boy who won the right to enter.
Guest BorneAgain Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Raven. If just to see if he would start fighting with Dreamer.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I was awaitng Nathan Jones. The biggest quaff with me was the stale old biker Taker returning. I knew Dead Man wasn't coming back already, but he had nothing AT ALL tweaked. Kinda bummed me out.
Guest IMarkForD'Lo Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I wanted to see D'Lo, because, well.... I like D'Lo! If the writers are actually paying attention though, they can use this to build up the whole "holding the black man down" thing... I guess... Hey, it's a bit silly I realize. But I'd rather see a midcarder with a reason to be angry than a randomly INTENSE one. Oh, and Kidman! Would it have killed the WWE to put him somewhere in there? Maybe have a fellow cruiser eliminate him to start up some sort of feud? Meh.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Austin. Period....a lot of people in Boston had the feeling he'd appear.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted January 20, 2003 There should have been a cruiserweight title match on the card. The show ended 20 minutes early. If Vince is jacking up the price to $35 dollars, the motherfucker better last 3 hours.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Giving away everyone who was in the Rumble killed it for me. They gave away 29 guys...and since Taker didn't do a run in durring any of the other matches, you knew he'd be #
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted January 20, 2003 The Matt/Bob Agree on the Rumble streak is up to two, as I was hoping for Rhyno to return when it was clear that no GIGANTAMONGOUS surprise was forthcoming. Plus, I just really like Rhyno.

No Way Man...wouldn't have been room for the predictable tag title match or their longest running angle match with Torrie and Dawn

Why hasn't every wrestling fan figured out that EVERY REGULAR(meaning Not-WM) PPV ends twenty minutes before the hour? Edit: See below.

I remember Rico there. I think with Rosey. Wasn't Hurricane at the World.

Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Yeah, I meant to put a disclaimer that it's EVERY regular PPV, so I'm off to edit.

Why hasn't every wrestling fan figured out that EVERY PPV ends twenty minutes before the hour? Bullshit. Some do, but that one was a bit early. Understandable because of the lack of a card, but most PPV's especially the recent ones have ended about 5 before the hour. Surely without enough time to throw in a whole extra long match. One year I was away for WM so I set a video, and stupidly missed the end!
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted January 20, 2003 ...Maybe my clocks are slow, Dan. Or maybe I haven't been paying attention to PPVs lately. I'll rephrase again... BACK IN THE DAY, EVERY REGULAR(meaning Not-WM) PPV ended twenty minutes before the hour.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Our meaningless argument will end. I honestly have seen nearly all of the WWF/E PPV's in the last 5 years, but 80% were on tape. I recently (maybe only for about a year) started ordering each one. I could be TOTALLY wrong on this one, but I just didn't feel recently that PPVS ended THIS quickly. Basically to sum it all up, I don't think the lack of time and the shittiness of most of the matches constitutes enough reason for the fans to buy PPVs. 6 a year with longer, drawn out feuds would be nice. *stops beating the dead horse*
Guest Caliban Report post Posted January 20, 2003 PPVs generally end within the region of 20 minutes to 10 minutes from the hour. It's been that way for years. Wrestlemania seems longer because they always have a 4 minute video package at the end with the show in highlight form. As for who didn't show in the Rumble... Hurricane was at the World... surely he and Rico could have filled 3MW's spots? And when there was a big pause between Taker's music starting up and him coming out, I thought for a moment the music was going to change, and Old School Taker was going to come out instead. Guest SP-1 Report post Posted January 20, 2003 Austin. I was reading updates in the SmarkTalk chat room, but I'd have marked out big time if I'd have just READ about Austin coming to the Rumble. And yeah, PPV's generally end about 15 or so from the hour, by my estimation.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Report post Posted January 20, 2003 I kind of wish Misterio would have been the last guy, and maybe let him be the one who was about to get Matt, was interrupted by Shannon then dumped by Hardy. I've wanted to see that feud since they didn't do it.
