You know, if Audioslave were more like Badmotorfinger meets Rage's s/t, instead of Evil Empire meets Cornell's solo album, I might like them, but as it is, I file them under bands that are good in theory but not execution.

Yeah, they're not great or anything but I'm a cornell mark and would still love to see him sing live. Apparently the live shows are excellent.

I'm making the Atlanta show. It'll be hard, but I'll get there.

Aren't they touring with Pearl Jam in the summer?

I just hope they play "Like A Stone". It has the best damn guitar solo I've heard in a loooong time.

Well, it's not like they have a lot to choose from. 14 songs off one album, 2 songs cut from the demos, and maybe some new material.

But they will.

Don't you think they might play some Soundgarden stuff? Rage songs are I think unlikely since Cornell would have to rap and I can't picture him doing that.

I like Audioslave. They have a sound that screams "retro" to me, and they arn't afraid to admit they are commercial.

That single "Save Yourself" was good too.

I hope so, that would be THE tour of the summer for sure.

I tried getting tickets for the Minneapolis show a few weeks ago but it was nearly impossible to grab a pair of tickets. The venue they are at holds maybe 2500 max.

AS is sold out for Minneapolis, fuckin First Avenue...

Anyway, i'll be at the SCORPIONS/WHITESNAKE/DOKKEN Target Center baby!

You poor poor soul

Anyway, they are not toruing with pearl Jam. Pearl Jam is having a seperate tour. The opening acts are Sleater-Kinney during the first 11 dates. Sparta will then be the opening act from April 19th to May 3rd, followed by Idlewild from May 28th to June 19th, and finally the Buzzcocks from June 21st to July 2nd.

It's actually called "Cochise," but yes, the song is good.

AoO: "Badmotorfinger" was a dashed fine album, but I've always felt "Superunknown" and "Down On The Upside" were a little better. Cornell's solo album was... eh. It had a few tracks on it I liked, but it just doesn't stand up to any Soundgarden CD, IMO.

You're nuts, Down on the Upside had none of the aggression that was on Badmotorfinger, andthe crunch in the riffs was really missing from a few tracks, like Blow up the Outside World. Superunkown has some good stuff on it, but I can't listen to Spoonman or Black Hole Sun anymore.

down on the upside is one of the most boring albums ever from an artist i like

you can just feel they just had no emotion going into that..from what i heard from people who went , the live shows from that time were the same deal and thats when they gave it up

All three discs are quite good, IMO. I think the musicianship on the last two was a little better, though, and it sounded like they were hitting their stride more as songwriters. Badmotorfinger had the harder edge, but I think Superunknown and Down on the Upside are a little better overall. There are a few songs on Badmotorfinger that I don't like, a few on Superunknown, but the only one on Down on the Upside I don't like is "Dusty."

My favorite Soundgarden song, though, remains "Big Dumb Sex," for obvious reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with song quality or musicianship.

I thought I add my comments and thoughts about Audio Slave.

I couldn't Stand Choisce (WTF?) at first but I really dug Like a Stone...Which on a continual loop in my stereo. (love the Solo)...and I've grown to that last song and the rest of album is pretty good as well...It's not Soundgarden or RAGE but it doesn't have to be...A good collaboration of good artists.

The ONLY thing worthwhile for Lollapalooza.
