Smarks Hypothetical Question

Recommended Posts

Now, I know that a lot of people here complain about WWE angles but really, how would you do it ? I realize that, during the Royal Rumble, most of you were very happy to see Jericho throw out Shawn Michaels so early ? But was that the right decision ? Because I know, if I ran WWE, my main goal would be to please the marks and majority of the audience by keeping HBK in longer. But apparently, many of you feel that that was actually better for WWE than giving the fans what they may have wanted. Also, while many of you don't like Scott Steiner, it turns out that (except for the Royal Rumble), he gets the fans excited. Yet, I've heard from many of you that Vince should just cut him which may not necessarily please many fans. I guess my main question is:

How would you run WWE ? Would you do it to please the fans ( by which I mean the majority, and not the Smarks ), or would you do it to please yourself ( like Vince does, only with the hosses and not the talented guys )?I'm actually interested to know how you would do it.

Rick Steiner would be more useful than Scott Steiner at the moment. Cut him a.s.a.p

Well here's what I would do:

I would have had HBK in the final four along with Brock, Jericho, and Matt Hardy as the darkhorse who might win it. I would have had Jericho eliminate HBK cleanly and then HBK come back superkick jericho in the mouth and have Brock eliminate him. That would make HBK seem like a jack-ass and could lead to me doing a doubleturn with JEricho and HBK. I just thing HBK is better suited as a heel and Jericho could be the top face of the company if pushed right.

I'd keep Scott Steiner around for a while, but turn him heel and have him in some hardcore brawls to cover up for the lack of wrestling he has now.

I'd keep the split and center RAW around Jericho, Booker T, RVD, Kane, Steiner, and HHH....and center smackdown around Brock, Benoit, Angle, Edge, Rock, and Matt Hardy.

I'd also bring the U.S Title to Raw and bring back the I.C. Title to Smackdown, and after i did that try my best to make the 2 brands seem like 2 different companies even if it means changing the name of Smackdown to another company name like WCW or whatever. After that i would have each brand with it's own PPV's every month and have absolutely no interaction between them.

Id run it under this simple idea, its my company, and if you dont like, I will replace you. Its not real, its a job to entertain. Being champ means nothing and if you think it does, you're in the wrong place, go be a real wrestler. Id do whats best for business judging on who draws most, not who i like. And if you play pollitics, you will not win.

1) Get WWF name back

2) Re-establish the mid-carders as marketable talent

3) Drop the dead weight (Ron Simmons, Nash, etc.)

4) Start an all-wrestling network on digital/satellite TV

5) Gradually shift all WWF programming, live and archived to that channel

6) Collect residuals from digital/satellite providers for people buying their services to "watch RAW"

7) Reconcile the Smackdown and RAW brands

8) Three titles - IC, Tag and WWF World

9) Drop back to 5 PPV's a year (Rumble, Mania, Summerslam, KOTR, Survivor Series)

10) Bring in minimal old talent that will draw (Sting, Goldberg, Savage, etc.)

And most of all - RECONNECT WITH THE FANS! WE'RE DYING HERE!

See, while some may think 3 titles are the best way to go, I don't necessarily think so and I think fans feel the same way. Maybe it's just me, but I always looked forward to Raw a little more when there was like 4 titles on the line in the same night. It always made it seem a little more unpredictable, plus gave some of my non-Main Event favorites a chance to win a title. From a fan's point of view, 3 titles are pretty much boring since once they're on someone, they stay there for a little while. And plus, we know HHH is gonna hold on to one of those titles already. ;)

And again, dropping back to 5 PPVs a year.....I don't know. If WWE would plan their stuff out a lot better, there would be enough time to properly hype PPVs. Anyway, I don't think that's the way to go either since PPVs, for the most part, promise quality matches. And I think fans would prefer seeing a PPV or getting an opportunity to go through 1, rather than sit through 3-minute Raw matches.

On these topics, I'm looking on the fans' point of view, since I do believe that's the best way to run a wrestling federation. If the fans don't want to see HHH, fine. Try Kurt Angle. Don't want to see Angle ? Fine. Let's try RVD. No RVD ? How about Test ( :P ) It's about switching things up for the fans' enjoyment, which Vince doesn't do and I have a feeling SOME people here might not necessarily do here either. I mean...how many people would push Benoit to the moon even if the fans weren't responding ? Anyway, what pleases you may not please the fans, which is why I questioned the 3 titles/5 PPVs a year suggestion....but still, good ideas.

Well I am currently writing a fanfic of my own fantasy booking. That starts the night after Summerslam 2003. I've remerged the roster and fired most of the dead weight. Like the old guys and hosses. Well I kept Taker around to put someone over and Kane b/c I like him.

But I'm also adding my own wrestler. Me....and I'm the greatest wrestler ever! I know it's goofy but I always day dream about being a wrestler and putting on great storylines. So I added myself in. I'll probably post it as I go then you can see the decisions I make. It basically boils down to:

1) Everything revolves around wrestling!

2) There's no fluff!

3) The most soap opera I would get is "you kicked my ass and sent me to the hospital, now I'm back to send you there!"

4) The ones that could hold there own would be on top

5) If two guys hate each other then they hate each other. Blading will be reserved for blood feuds that end in an ultra-violent or straight wrestling match.

6) There will be no "getting your heat back"

Those are just some of the things I would do.
