Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 23, 2003 A-Train’s fast job to Rey Mysterio in the tag match last week on Smackdown was an indication that the A-Train push has come to an abrupt halt. Vince McMahon apparently lost faith in the feud after the poor reception A-Train received, and pulled the plug on the feud. McMahon, who made the call to replace Matt Hardy with Albert only hours before the Rey Mysterio injury angle took place, has actually placed the blame on Edge. McMahon feels that Edge was unable to carry the in-ring portion of the feud, and has not shown what it takes to be a top tier player. In addition, Edge was given the final slot in the Raw X to further promote him as a top tier wrestler, but again he disappointed management. Edge has been given many opportunities by management because he is a home grown talent, but he has reportedly cooled in the eyes of some top management. Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted January 23, 2003 McMahon feels that Edge was unable to carry the in-ring portion of the feud, and has not shown what it takes to be a top tier player. Yes. Unlike Triple H who can carry Scott Steiner to a ***** match.

I'm not Edge's greatest fan or hater, but it amazes me just how arbitrary things are. (Eternal Disclaimer) Provided this is true of course. In addition, Edge was given the final slot in the Raw X to further promote him as a top tier wrestler, but again he disappointed management. What was he supposed to do? Wrestle himself to a five star match? And nobody could have saved that show.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 23, 2003 Albert....could never get over to save his life, despite multiple pushes. Edge...the most over face in the company. You really know how to pick your shots, Vince. Only Bret Hart or Steve Austin could have saved that show. It's not the boys fault that the show was put together so shitty and written so badly. Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted January 23, 2003 It's great that Albert doesn't really get any blame for sucking ass in the ring, Edge just takes it all because he couldn't carry him. Then again, the Golden Boy that is Edge appear to have some dents in his armour so I also can't help but laugh.....

NYU 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2003 Just ridiculous.....I mean....imagine the logic. Heyman: Vince, I have this great idea. Let's have Matt Hardy and Edge start a feud. It will be great ! Vince: Well, Matt does wrestle well enough. But that doesn't do it for me. Where's Albert ? ( Albert walks in ) Albert: Hey hey hey, what's goin on y'all ? Vince: Albert, have I got an angle with you. You're going to be going against Edge in a high profile feud ! Albert: That's great ! But why ? Vince: Well, you're big and that's good enough for me. See ya later Al ! And get Edge for me. (Albert walks in) (Edge walks in) Vince: Edge, forget that Matt Hardy feud. I'm putting you in with Albert ! And I want YOU to carry the matches, dammit ! Edge: But Vince, matches with Albert are hard. Vince: Dammit, Edge, have a good match or I'm going to blame you. Don't make me say YOU'RE FIRRRRRRRRED ! Edge: Fine, I'll try. (Few weeks later) Vince: Dammit, I told Edge ! This is all his fault ! That's it Edge, you're gone ! Now where's Bill DeMott ? ---------------------------- Just shows Vince's continuing spiral into senility. ( Albert leaves )
Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted January 23, 2003 What was he supposed to do? Wrestle himself to a five star match? That would be fun to watch... maybe if they would have been more inclined to remember the past 10 years instead of the past 5, it would have been better... the WWE apparently does not have an "old school" folder at it's HQ... the only thing I really enjoyed was Rock getting booed and them using "Tell Me A Lie" for a video package...cause that song still gets to me...even if it was based on politics... Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted January 23, 2003 I kinda doubt this is all true, but if it is, WWE sure has double-standards. So some of their main eventers can be crappy wrestlers but some of them have to be able to carry lugs to gret matches? For the love of god, has anyone had a good match with Albert lately? But since Edge didn't do the almost impossible, then he's punished. And that Raw-X thing does't make any sense. Did he say thank you wrong? But as I stated earlier, I doubt this is true at all. Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted January 23, 2003 Edge...the most over face in the company. It's funny, because after all of Edge's never ending push I wish he would just go lie under a train somewhere. But Vince fucks him and suddenly I feel sorry for the guy. Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted January 23, 2003 I got a question for you Smell the Ratings: what push are you talking about? Edge hasn't been pushed since the Angle feud. Oh, he is one of the most over faces in WWE, BTW.
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted January 23, 2003 This is retarded. Why blame Edge for not being able to carry Albert instead of logically blaming ALbert for being a horrible worker who needs to be carried? So what's next? Benoit gets blamed for not being able to carry Katie Vick's dummy to a good match? Because it's obviously his fault.

Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 23, 2003 Edge is Edge. Albert is Albert. Edge is better than Albert. Albert is better than Bill Demott. Albert is hairier than Rikishi. Albert is somehow more repulsive than Rikishi. Is Albert better than Rikishi or is Rikishi better than Albert? Who gives a shit? Edge can not have good matches with Albert. Edge can have higher than a DUD with Albert. Benoit, Angle, and Eddy all would have a hard time having a good match with Albert. All are better than Albert. Albert sucks ass. Edge is Edge. Vince is a fucking moron. Bill Demott sucks dick, too. (TM & C Dean Rasmussen, used without permission but he doesn't really mind.)

Credit: Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter Oh my, oh my, just where do I begin!? It wouldn't be enough to just say I have a smile on my face, oh no. I am pretty, damn, pleased. As for Albert, I can understand it totally, I never saw him going far at all. I knew that the moment he debuted years ago. It isn't so much his lack of skills that I thought that, but his look, he just doesn't have a very good look to ever be worth all that much. Anyhow, e'fn'nough about Albert, let's get to the other part... ...I agree with Vince 100% that Edge totally sucked in that fued. He didn't seem to try, not at all. Even when damned Albert tried to inject a bit of psychology and science into the match, Edge totally no-sold it all, and made everything look horrible, that's just the way he does a lot of the times. Many of you people didn't think it mattered, but I did, AND it did. A few of you said that you hoped Edge did it on purpose, which is possible, and if he DID, he DESERVES to be punished. No one should PURPOSELY make a feud or match look bad, I will not uphold that for no one. Why they even allowed for him to have that final slot on RAW X is beyond me, he DID NOT DESERVE IT, period. He just isn't able to make an impact that they were hoping for in that posistion. Someone like Taker, HBK, or any of the McMahon's would have made more sense. Personally, I hope this is the end of the painfull Edge push for quite some time. I can't stand his character, I can't stand his gimmick, I can't stand his current move set, I can't stand him in his current form at all. He has potential, he has the ability to be a player, but not as he is right now. I, for one, am happy as hell to hear this, bwahahahahahaha.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted January 23, 2003 So is Edge officially Bill Gunn?
Guest Goodear Report post Posted January 23, 2003 Downhome is (sadly) totally correct. Edge did completely dog that feud in a manor that dogs themselves were repulsed by it. It doesn't really take a lot of heart to get up for Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, and Angle every week. But a true superstar can take other people and drag good showings out of them. Edge is not yet at that level and may never be. A-Train is who he is, a pretty middle-of-the-pack wrestler who doesn't work as badly as most people think, but isn't good enough to overcome the WWE's choice of presentation. But WWE and Edge totally cut the legs out from under him after the first three weeks of the angle. It really shouldn't be a surprise that he's not over. Unlike Triple H who can carry Scott Steiner to a ***** match. I really don't see what this thread has to do with HHH. Anyway I'm glad that A-Train's push has come to an end because he has been sucking the ring up lately. I don't feel that Edge deserves to be in the doghouse because anyone that gets into the ring with A-Train is in for a shitty match remember.

Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted January 23, 2003 The story really sounds too farfetched to be true, but nonetheless, if this gets Albert and Edge out of the main events then I am all for it. Maybe they can finally give us that Edge - Matt Hardy feud at NWO or X19. I also hopes this does not lead to Edge teaming up with Rey or Benoit and going against Team Angle every week.
