CZW recommendation

Recommended Posts

Guest permagrinning

I wanted to see some good american garbage wrestling. Thumbtacks, light bulbs, and (from what I hear occaisionally) weed wackers too. Oh my. Can someone recommend a CZW tape that would be a good introduction? I've never watched any of the wrestlers but have seen their names pop up here and there so I don't know what to pick.

I was thinking:

Break Away Brawl

or

No rule, No limits....

any feedback would be splendid.

You want violence? TOURNAMENT OF DEATH! Having seen this tape multiple times, I can say that there is plenty of ultraviolence on this tape.

I believe it was H8 Club: Dead? that had the 6 Man tag with Zandig, Wifebeater, and Nick Mondo vs. Justice Pain & Backseat Boys with the three faces (the first three) getting slaughtered.

UnF'NBelievable, Fans Bring The Weapons, Jun Kasai & Nick Mondo vs. Justice Pain & Johnny Kashmere. Kasai dies for our entertainment, and Mondo tries to.

Some of the 2002 stuff is good as well. Night of Infamy has Wifebeater's retirement match, against Zandig in a ::gathers his wind:: I Quit No Rope Barbed Wire Stripped Ring Barbed Wire Canvas Fans Bring The Weapons Deathmatch. ::Catches breath:: The match that finally got deathmatches banned in Philly.

Those are just some off the top of my head, and I could wax philosophical about more if necessary.

If you just want some Deathmatch stuff then Tournament of Death is probably your best bet, theres some really violent stuff in there but also some fairly enjoyable deathmatches (not just hitting each other with weapons).

For more of a well rounded card, Deja Vu has a kickass barbedwire deathmatch and some other good stuff.

As Sandman said, for older stuff check out H8 Club Dead? and Un F'N Believable but I'm more inclined to recomend newer stuff as it's just generally of a better quality.

I still havent see TOD. I got it as part of a bundle of tapes, but havent been able to psych my self up to watching it.

Just how bad is it? Using a scale of 1-10, with WWF hardcore being 2 and ECW hardcore being 5.

I should watch it, because I cant comment untill ive seen it, but I really dont see the appeal.

First round varies between a 4 and a 5. Only a few nasty spots, which I won't spoil.

Second round goes up to an 8.

Third round breaks the scale. If you've seen the pics of Mondo afterwards, you know what I mean. And after watching the final spot, I, Mr. motherfucking bloodmark himself, can't watch it again.

cool cool. Who are good tape dealers to go through? I was looking off of highspots and their collection seems to be a bit limited for CZW tapes or DVD

I have seen the pcitures on mondo after the weed wacker, and thats whats put me off watching the tape. Thanks for not spoiling it for me, but I cant say that this tape is at the top of my "to watch" pile.

I cant see what the interest in it is, it goes beyond wrestling. Sandman, you call your self a bloodmark, and im not criticising you at all for that, im just wondering what it is that you enjoy about ultraviolence.

I cant honestly see why anyone would pick it over a wrestling match? I'm having a hard time seein what the appeal is.

I wont criticise it, until ive seen it though.

I know this will sound really dumb, but how good is the actual wrestling? I figured it's not just constant weapon beatings, and I am interested in seeing CZW, but how many of them could hold their own against the better batch of WWE?

Second thing- Could someone just PM me the most brutal spot? I'm just curious but don't want it to be a spoiler for any person who wants to see it themselves.

Big thanks.

Can be watchable when some of the better workers put their minds to it. Nick Mondo, Messiah, Trent Acid can work solid non gimmick matches. The spot machines like Sonjay Dutt and Ruckus are good at what they do as well.

Noone in CZW is anywhere near the high end of the WWE. Theres a few who could be carried to good matches fairly easilly though.

My favourite tape would be Best of the Best 2. Super Dragon vs B Boy and Jody Fleisch vs Jonny Storm all non CZW guys and they steal the show easilly from the natives. The latter being a true MOTYC from last year.

Both guys being from right here in England, and a part of the FWA! "Av it!"

when good CZW wrestlers are put into an ultra violent match they are usually good, but there are some where they just hit each other with random shit in between periods of getting hit with random shit, its very violent, and if you like that sorta stuff, then its all good, but i like violent matches that have more build ups and deathmatch pyshcology
