Linkin Park > Nirvana

Yes, cartman, because anybody that doesn't like Linkin Park is an elitist.

I fucking hate remix albums unless they're done on occasion. That is my ONLY gripe with Rob Zombie, as he releases a remix album after every original album these days. He released Super Sexy Swingers Club after the final White Zombie album. Astro-Creep 2000. Then he released American Made Music To Strip By after his singles debut, Hellbilly Deluxe. Then he released the remix album of the songs off of The Sinister Urge after the album was released.

ENOUGH FUCKING REMIXES~!

It's funny though, because his original albums sell more than his remix albums by a pretty large margin...

Oh no Corey you got me all wrong...

90% of the people that post on this board are elitists, nothing to do with LP.

Actually, Laz. Don't count on Lemmy to be able to distinguish little things like Linkin Park from metal. He called Puddle Of Mudd (BACKWARDS DS OMG WE = THE COOL) a "good new metal band". As far as I'm concerned Lemmy can go to hell. Or heaven, whichever would make him more uncomfortable.

Elitists? Yeah. But that's better than swallowing every piece of garbage that comes off the assembly line.

Eh fuck it, I'm not getting in this argument.

I think 'I likes what I likes' would be appropriate, even though I'll be happy to contradict that statement when people spew U2 and coldplay at me.

I used to be like this cartman fellow. Then I realized talking about elitism was a waste of time. Listen to what you want, don't worry what other people think.

You want to bash Linkin Park? Doesn't bother me. It is important to realize that what a bunch of people on a message board say doesn't matter. Nobody will change their mind because music is subjective.

then why post? Messageboards are for sharing opinions. If the opinions don't matter than why the fuck are bothering to post here?

I didn't say don't bother talking about it. I just said don't let it get to you like it obviously has gotten to cartman2092. Sharing opinions is great.

Whilst I cannot fathom listening to linkin park, I agree with hardyz1, if I gave a crap about anyone who bashed AWK (99% of humanity) I would have been banned for wishing grisly deaths on a number of people long ago.

Andrew WK is cheesy fun rock, and there's nowt wrong with that. Saturnmark, you're English right? Did you ever watch a kid's show on ITV years ago called Funhouse? Cos its theme tune sounds exactly like AWK music. I'm not kidding, exactly the same. Party hard, party hard, party party party hard, funhouse, whole lotta fun, priiizes to be won...its joyous to behold.

What a mullet that guy had.

The days of "Fun House", I'm becoming misty eyed.

Why did he gut it off? He just looks wrong with shorter hair.

My 500th post, and it's about Pat F'N Sharp.

Let's work under the TRUE fact that artists only cover artists because the original versions suck and the coverer believes they can do much better. Then there's the supporting evidence - Phish has covered the entire White Album, there's the Sam I Am soundtrack, and Oasis, but has anyone even attempted a "Crawling" cover? No. And when people can realize that, that's musical perfection.

You can't cover a song that is still under copywrite, if I'm not mistaken.

Thus, your logic is skewed.

That being said, I enjoy some of LP's stuff, such as the remix to Pushing Me Away on the Reanimation album, and a few other tracks. I don't like it because it's REAL METAL~!!!!!!!!! or because I CAN IDENTIFY WITH IT, SO IT RULES, BECAUSE I'M GAWTH, AND I LIKE HEAVY LYRICS, but because I think it sounds smooth, and parts of it flow rather well in my opinion.

You can cover any song you so choose, even if it is under copyright. See: Alien Ant Farm - "Smooth Criminal," Metallica's Garage, Inc. album, and many other cover tunes.

You just need to pay a fee.

A lot of those songs' copyright had expired, though. I'm not sure how many years it takes, but it is possible after a number of them to cover these songs.

a copy right expires something like 20 years after the artist's death. You can cover a song even if you don't pay the fee, so long as you give all of the profits from it to the original artist, or hell, you can just wait for them to sue.

Copyrights last forever now, something like 70 years after the artist's death I believe. Otherwise Jimi Hendrix songs would be easy pickins - not that many people try and cover Jimi Hendrix anyway.

But yea, get the permission of the label (not even the artist, but the label), pay a fee, and voila! Instant cover. It should be noted however, that most (and arguably, the best) covers are of the joking/spontaneous sort during a live concert, for which (unless the concert is to be released on CD) there is no cost.
