Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I think War Games 98 was so bad they almost killed the gimmick. You aren't going to get a better War Games than in 92. 96 is underrated. I saw it live and it worked quite a bit. The beauty of War Games is the 2 minute intervals allow the fresh guy to come in a house of fire and hit some of his signature spots. Right when it looks like one team has the advantage, the fresher person is ready to come in and turn the tide. I think TNA could put on a hell of a War Games, but some logistical problems arise. 1) Would the fairgrounds be big enough for 2 rings? 2) Could you keep Russo out of the booking so that the cage means something. Russo would write it up so eventually someone not involved in the match would run in and totally negate the purpose of having the 2 teams locked in there. I also dig the concept that the 2 teams are in the cage to not only keep other people out, but to also keep the participants in. I think the latter was the more appealing part because there you are locked in a cage with partners/friends and inside the cage are your worse enemies and you want them in there so you can beat each others brains in. Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted July 8, 2003 best way to understand Wargames is to download it, any video file sharing program has it. IE: www.kazaa.com Or go to http://www.quiettstormm.com/thetapeman/wargames.html and BUY THIS VERY TAPE! RF has one too, but they suck.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted July 8, 2003 I know the Wrestling was horrible in '95, but that has to be the best one I've seen.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 I'll definitely go w/ 1998 being the worst because there was some potential for it to be good, but 1995 isn't all THAT bad , and would of been about decent had we'd of seen at least one guy blade. I never really got into the 1989 one for some reason. And I can't really decide if I like 1987 or 1992 WG better. Probably 1992, but the VQ of 1987 is much better on my tape, so I'm more likely to watch that version. What did everyone thing of the 1988 Tower of Doom. I thought it was alright for a one-time deal but I'm glad they never brought it back.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 What did everyone thing of the 1988 Tower of Doom. I thought it was alright for a one-time deal but I'm glad they never brought it back. They stole the idea from WCCW, who did one at one of their Texas Stadium shows. I liked the WCCW one better; they were more violent, more blood and emotion. Both were decent though ... better than that crap that wcw brought out as they were dying.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 9, 2003 The problem with the 1998 one was that it went against EVERYTHING the match was for... It was for Two sets of Rivals to beat the piss outta each other... This one was for a title shot... It was in an 9 man dance in a cage as far as I was concerned... Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Plus the whole Warrior smoke knocking everyone out except Hogan made the match go from Bad to WrestleCrap worthy. Seriously, that Warrior smoke bit was the worse thing in War Games history.
Guest DarkHollywood Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Actually...Hogan attacked everyone with some kind of foreign object (possibly brass knux) except for Stevie Ray. Warrior came in, beat on Stevie Ray while Hogan ran away with Ed Leslie (Dicyple at the time)

Just John 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2003 Anytime Stevie Ray is in your main event, you know you did something wrong. Out of all the guys in the NWO at the time, you'd think they could find someon better than Stevie Ray.
Guest DarkHollywood Report post Posted July 9, 2003 F*ck, there goes my theory. Bret Hart always WAS a good seller...I guess he lost control this time. (Any bathroom references should be sent to Sid)
Guest Prototype450 Report post Posted July 13, 2003 My favorite memory is when Sid damn near killed Brian Pillman in WarGames umm damn what years was that? Sid slamed his head in the roof of the cell then jacknifed the hell out of the poor guy. And does anyone remeber that spot sting did when he came in that he would jump ring to ring. Guest DarkHollywood Report post Posted July 13, 2003 The Sid/Pillman thing was Wrestle War 91. RetroRob did a very nice review of it, and should be in is recap folder in the Archives. as for Sting doing the missile dive from one ring to another, he did that in all the war games matches he was in I think. (1998 he almost botched it, but im not too sure if he even did it or I am losing my memory.)

Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I recently found a great site where we can find Old NWA / AWA stuff. Great interviews. Check Rick Steamboat, its great. A nice Four Horsemen History, with pics. http://www.solie.org/
Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I just downloaded the '87 match, & i love it. it should have gone longer though. THIS is the match that should have ended the Invasion, & it would fit perfect at Survivor Series. TNA should do one if they can (ie the logistics & if Vince doesn't own the gimmick). Styles/Siaki/Daniels/Kash/Credible Vs Jarrett/D-Lo/Lynn/AMW sounds awesome to me, fuck continuity.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I remember ordering Fall Brawl 98 thinking the three team format could be interesting. Not two minutes into that show, Tony Schiavone said the match could end via pinfall at any time, and I looked over at my dad and said "We just got screwed out of 30 bucks." I didn't order a WCW PPV until Starrcade 2000 after that.
Guest DarkHollywood Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I never ordered a WCW PPV past 1995, for the obvious reasons. (cough:crap:cough) At least I have the memories of watching GAB 91 on PPV.....wait....even NOW i can't remember it, even though I remember the awful opening match and nothing more. Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 15, 2003 You should have known you were getting screwed out of your money when you saw "WCW FALL BRAWL" on the bottom of your TV before you ordered it.
