Look at Tony149 for example. Sass though would be a fantastic mod. though it's stupid to be talking about who should be a mod as Tim rightly said Popick doesn't have any authority. But that was because the HHHating was getting WAAAY out of hand. I don't think the religion discussion has at all. Hell- there was a lot of NewsRadio loving and we never got our own folder. I felt like my back was against the wall, like there was a growing division between Christians and non-Christians on the board. The flurry of activity over it lately due to Dopey's antics kind of cemented that. I don't care about folders or mods. I just wish to see some of this hostility put to rest in favor of intelligent discussion. I think that's what alot of us are here for, as well as joking around alot. Some of it was due to offline religious/family issues with my sister. But some of the replies here make me think I haven't done such a bad job trying to integrate my Christian standpoint into my activities here. That was what originally concerned me was that I wasn't representing Christ well. Perhaps fading away isn't quite the route. Besides. I have way too much free time. I watched the forums literally blow up in our faces over some of this stuff... it wasnt the best, and reminded me of our worst aspects. Seems split too. As with everything. TC, I have no power. None. Zilch. I didn't want any, I don't have the time to be an active part of this board. All that I do is maintain the account with my checkbook ... and Dames is paying me until such a time as his debt to me is paid back and we have located a new and better server. I am currently constructing a new server with alot of spare computers and trying to find a place to host it from. Other than that, I simply listen to Dames and try my best to see what he wants happens, and at least take away some of the worry as he searches for employment again. I understand all too well how that is. Im glad SP is still here, and buddy im always here to talk religion, but i think many peeps got treated wrongly by a few hotheads...and we really need to figure out a good way to prevent this type of problem in the future Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Grow some thicker skin. BTW- I am a religious person who has a strong belief in God and prays everyday but I just don't think a religion folder is a good idea. BTW they only entered the conversation because Annie could not handle her own. Also if you want to get down to the point, they laid the flame bait in that thread, not me. I would also like to add that you baited me here also. It's a wonder I got banned from here for flame baiting, yet I am the only one getting flamed. I think it was bullshit you were banned in the first place- you never really bothered me and it was funny how you always drove RISK crazy. I respect your beliefs - but its hard to respect someone who isn't leaving altogether. If we are all blasphemous pigs, then leave altogether. A religion folder? Considering all religion threads get shut down anyway, why have a folder dedicated to it? Quite honestly, it would be like having a folder dedicated to politics - everyone will just get their panties in a bunch. Or at least people don't seem to want to consider their wording on things. I would never say, "No, you are wrong." I would say, "I disagree, because:" and I would explain my side. And I would look into it from various resources before digging into it as well. But seriously SP, how else are we supposed to do this? I mean, in my point of view, a lot of what was written in the bible is myth, and much more of what is written in good recent science books is closer to fact. But for people like RobJohnstone (cough) what is written in the bible is THE WORD OF GOD and undeniable. (spelling) Here is how every argument with Rob (which is where this ALL started back in some post he started with links to a fundamentalist christian site that set the CE board off but that's neither here nor there) he would say "The Earth is 6000 years old!" and we would say "STFU! No it's not!" and he'd say "Yes it is, you can't prove it's not" and we'd say "Look in your geology texts, you can't prove it's 6000 years old!" and then he'd say "So I guess you can't prove me wrong, you evolutionists!" and then we'd give him facts (like the fact that since light travels at lightspeed, it would be impossible to see stars that were more than 10000 light years away under RobJohnstone's theory, or all the holes in the arc story) and he would say that they weren't facts. And back and forth. Thats why I tried to drop it back there. I do get a kick out of yelling at him, both because it's easy and because MAYBE MAYBE someday he'll learn something. While Rob and I both share a common theology, I'm not so much a fundamentalist, I don't think. I don't believe that rules bind you, I believe you grow into the character that God's "rules" are aiming for over time as a result of that relationship with him. Also, I don't get into politics, especially where the church is concerned because I think the church should be doing it's own thing and not concerned so much with worldy things like that. My whole point was that most discussions turn into just what Rob and Eric are almost on the verge of now. Your points start off strong but degrade into potshots half the time. Which is well within your rights but ultimately does nothing and sure doesn't attempt to prove much of anything. When it comes to issues like the speed of light and starlight and such, I'd go looking for views and theories about it before forming my argument instead of going backwards or staying complacent in my argument. If one of us thought about it, I'm sure the professionals that have these same discussions have as well and somebody somewhere has formulated something of use.
