Raw edited in Canada?

There's a review of Raw up on Other Arena and a poster said that they aired a Sean O'Haire promo encouraging viewers to "light up". Did any Canadians catch this?

I checked Keiths Raw Rant but he neglects to mention it, but then I remember (to my dismay) that I share Canada with Scott Keith.

If you read my review you noticed I skipped it as well. :-)

I noticed the warning sign was up for a long time at one point- damn censors

Oh fuck them motherfuckers! Why should they care? We're *this* close to decriminalizing pot anyways!

I wonder what would happen if they had Trish smokin on a bong while getting put through a table by Bubba?

Well, Trish's hotness level would increase 10 points in my eyes for one thing because she tokes up.......

(O'Haire's promo airs)

RVD: "Duuuuude. He's so right."

Kane: "About what?"

RVD: "...Huh?"

Kane: "Didn't you just say O'Haire was right?"

RVD: "Duuuude. You are so right!"

Kane: "About what?!"

RVD: ::::giggles::::

So thus far, we have pot, adultery, and God....have any of the others been banned in Canada out of curiosity? Because I would assume the other two SHOULD be more controversial than the one tonight. (it should be noted I have yet to see it but I'm guessing he just said "pot = good" basically, right?)

The adultury and God one aired...strange, ain't it?

That is really strange. Lesbians and pot get banned yet actual religious based topics are aired free from all restriction. On the bright side, it sounds as if this was the worst one yet (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) so Canada was at least spared any tarnishes on the armor that is Sean O'Haire thus far.

The reason can be found on South Park:

'Drugs are bad, mmmmkay.'

You neglected to mention the one about not paying your taxes. Of course, he makes references to the IRS, Uncle Sam, and Washington, so that might explain why Canadians haven't seen them...

I was surprised that Uncle Jean didn't send a lynch mob to Titan towers when the tax promo ran.

Fucking thought police CRTC. This could actually be really bad for the character that O'Haire is developing. The censors edit out anything that even implies that you should do something outside of the rules. O'Haire is openly reasoning with you to break the rules. The fucking thought police may decide that this is bad for our poor fragile impressionable little minds and cut him off totally.

I just hope that next week they show a backstage segment where RVD is watching a continuous loop of the pot promo.

Um, the CRTC isn't doing the editing, it's TSN...

Did they edit the Stacy bit? Cause I know any violence against chicks use to get cut every time.

TSN does it following CRTC guidelines and under the threat of losing their broadcasting licence if they don't.

Actually, the CRTC has a set of guidelines that many stations have to follow (they differ depending on when the shows are being broadcast) and then it's up to the station to do the editing as they see fit. If they don't do it good enough, they get in shit. If they do, then so be it. So the ones you should be mentioning are TSN. The CRTC doesn't get a live feed of RAW while sitting on the phone with TSN telling them to get the censors ready. It's all TSN's handy work.

And just because pot is decriminalized (well, 30g or less for personal use anyways..) doesn't mean that it's a socially acceptable activity for the majority of the populace. TSN made a decision with their sponsors in mind, I'm sure. And good for them! Until you run a business that relies on such things you really have no right to piss and moan about it. You don't like it? Subscribe to a satellite service and watch TNN.

So if someone holding an axe over your head gives you shit for doing something they don't like, do you continue it, or alter it more to their liking?

And we have every right to bitch and moan about something we don't like. Just as TSN has every right to give us the finger and say "Fuck you, we're running a business here."

I don't care enough about some insignificant bullshit that someone is afraid will warp my mind to go to the trouble of a satellite, but I do care enough to vent on a message board.

Valid points. But it's the law, dude...

The CRTC is vested with the authority to regulate and supervise all aspects of the Canadian broadcasting system, as well as to regulate telecommunications common carriers and service providers that fall under federal jurisdiction.

If you want to register a complaint, then by all means.
