Maven with the Unprettier 3 Minute Warning d. Two Jobbers when Jamal hits "the toss and catch Samoan Slam" Sounds like an alright edition of Heat. Goldust/Richards and Christian/Maven should be pretty good and I dig Rico no matter what.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted January 28, 2003 Thanks to WrestlingObserver.com for this report. About one & a half sections tarped off in the upper deck, otherwise the place was full - I'd say about 11,500. Chicago crowd was hot as usual, with the crowd most wanting to see Austin. This was a much older crowd (specifically late 20's/early 30's women) than I'm used to seeing at WWE shows. Not nearly as many younger kids as usual, either. Winds of Change/WWE History video had a couple of interesting trends, with the crowd popping big for Hogan & Austin and booing Rock. Good thing they're turning Rock heel. First 2 matches appeared to be dark matches, as Lita & Coach didn't come out until the 3rd match. Dark Match #1 - Johnny Stamboli def. Chad Collyer - Stamboli out first to mostly boos, then Collyer comes out acting as a heel, so crowd switched to cheering Stamboli. Stamboli won with a Military Press into an over-the-shoulder powerslam. Decent match that the crowd half paid attention too. Sean O'Haire's music plays and he comes to the ring for a promo. I don't think this will be televised as they used his old entrance video. Very good pop from the crowd. His promo didn't quite go over as expected. He let us know that it was OK for us to drink and smoke since we have horrible lives, families, dogs, etc. Instead of getting booed, the crowd cheered him for encouraging us to indulge our vices. Eh, at least he's getting over. Dark Match #2 - Sean O'Haire def. Michael Shane - not a very good match. Crowd was totally behind O'Haire and into his power moves, and fell asleep when Shane was working over O'Haire's left leg. Crowd wanted an O'Haire demolition. O'Haire won with a Razor's Edge, although it was closer to a powerbomb than Hall's version. Heat Match #1 - Golddust def. Steven Richards. Prematch promo in the back of Richards insulting Golddust, and Goldie ripping on Richards and his "witch" (who wasn't present). Crowd way into Golddust, and he ended up winning with his powerslam finisher. Decent match with crowd heat well above what would be expected - the WWE won't even have to pipe in any for this match. Heat Match #2 - 3 Minute Warning def. "Chad" Anderson & "A.J. Feely" ??. Sorry, Fink didn't announce the Unknown Duo until after introducing 3 Minute Warning, and neither name rang a bell. The second guy's name sounded a lot like A.J. Feely, but that's the name of Philly's back-up QB. Those two guys appeared to be local based on some fan reaction in the crowd. Anyway, no Rico with Rosey & Jamal. Anderson & Feely got some good offense to start, then got crushed. Jamal got the pin on Anderson using his toss-and-catch Samoan Slam he used on RAW. Heat Match #3 - Christian def. Maven. Easily the best match not on RAW. Maven showed a lot of fire and still gets the Tough Enough pop, especially from the females in attendance. Good back-and-forth match, which Christian won with the Unprettier. Heat Match #4 - Spike def. Rico. They'll probably set up this match for Heat by way of the RAW tables match. Hard to believe, but this match was very boring. Considering the working ability of both men, and Rico's ability to draw heat from an icecube, that just floored me. Rico turned down the "feminine" mannerisms during the match, and this turned into a typical Spike match that I've watched now for 5 years straight. Spike's always been fun to watch and he'll always have my respect for the punishment he willingly takes, but he's got to do something to freshen his act up. Spike took the usual beating, they teased a Dudley Dog, and finally Spike won with a nice roll-up. The roll-up is kinda hard to describe - Spike hooked one of Rico's legs, rolled through, and got the pin. After RAW - immediately after they went off the air, HBK came in for the save, ending his scrum with Y2J with some Sweet Chin Music. At that point, all eyes in the ring went to Steiner. HBK talked to him, RVD rolled into the ring to check on him, and two refs came down as well. As I mentioned earlier, Steiner appeared to be in a tremendous amount of pain, and I have to question the intelligence of whoever suggested him taking a Demon Bomb from Batista. That was beyond stupid.
Guest notJames Report post Posted January 28, 2003 So I guess no more "Cruel Intentions" for O'Haire, as he's utilizing yet another powerbomb permutation. Great... like we don't have enough of those already. Boy, is Big Poochie gonna be mad when he gets back. Maybe he'll pull an HBK whiny power play and have O'Haire, Batista, DeMott, and Noble use german suplexes instead. I don't think anyone's using those. (Anyone that matters, anyway...) Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted January 28, 2003 If that crippled fucker can't take a powerbomb, he shouldn't be in there. Hell, even Hogan got powerbombed (probably against his will) by Brock and he was fine.
