Smallville...

Recommended Posts

Guest Mole

I've been watching this show since the beginning, but I stopped watching it the past few weeks. I just lost interest in it. But I started watching it again tonight, and I have a question.

I thought Lana's father was killed when the metor's hit, so how is he around now?

Thanks fellas.

Lana's mom had a brief affair with some dude...which produced Lana.

She found out from a photo she found of them together.

She went looking for and then found her biological father and now is getting to know him.

I didn't really like tonight's episode. It seemed a little out of place.

What happened to Martha staying on with Luthercorp to spy on what Lionel knew about Clark?

Next week Evil Clark is back!!!

I want slutty Lana to come back. That was the only time I liked that whore. Otherwise I wish they'd kill that bitch off so Clark can start giving Chloe the supercock.

Well Lethargic it looks like Evil Clark teams up with Evil Chloe for some one on one fun. I always thought Clark oughta give up on Lana and go for Chloe myself as well. Hell, it's not like Chloe's got anything wrong with her.

What happens to Lana, Chloe, and Pete when Clark becomes Superman. I never remember any of them being part of the comic strip. Did these characters ever exist before this show was made, or did something happen to them.

Lana was in Superman 3 when Clark went back to Smallville. I'm guessing it's supposed to be the same character.

Oh and ironically Lana in Superman 3 was played by the lady who plays Clark's mom on Smallville.

Chloe is new to the series, but Lana & Pete have been around for decades. Come on, Annette O'Toole (Martha Kent) even played Lana in Superman III.

Here she is.

In the comics these days, Pete Ross is Vice-President of the U.S., and Lana is his wife.

I've read in the orginal comics that Pete and Chloe weren't around, they were just made up for this show.

EDIT: 1600th post, WAHOO.

Pete Ross was in the comics. In fact, right now he's Lex Luthors Vice President. Of course, in the comics he's white.

I just watched it. Wow, tonight's episode S U C K E D! That was not only the worst episode of the series but one of the worst episodes of any show I've watched. That was terrible. It seems like the few episodes since the winter hiatus ended have all been pretty below par. But tonight's was just terrible. I can't believe that retarded sheriff crap. What a joke.

Oh come on... it wasn't that bad!

It didn't advance any *major* storylines, but it was a good setup episode. I found it enjoyable.

-EDIT- Oh yeah, Pete and Lana are based off characters in the comics, Chloe is new.

Knowing DC, they'll somehow work Chloe into the Superman comic book.

Chloe is totally worthless now since the show shot it's load with the Clark/Chloe relationship which went nowhere since Chloe is a confused dimwit.

I like Chloe, but I think she needs a love interest who DOESN'T turn out to be the villian of the week.

I don't really like Chloe I just hate that Lana whore and her cutie little wrinkly faces.

Lana IS gorgeous, but I wouldn't kick Chloe out of bed, either.

I liked Tuesday's episode because it planted some more seeds for the inevitable animosity between Clark and Lex. Lex, BTW, has been the best character on the show since it started, and nothing this season has changed that. He's been excellent in the past two episodes, especially.

Sorry to bring this back up, but what exactly happened at the very end of the last ep? Lex was talking to his father about what really happened that night, and he was disgusted about how his dad ruined an honest man or whatever, but then what? I had to take a phone call and missed it. (boo)

I see no difference between comics book Pete and Smallville Pete.

Unless you're looking at that new Smallville comic they released to capitalize on the TV show, Pete Ross & Lana Lang have always been white in the comics. He looks like a blond Jimmy Olsen.

Both Pete & Lana had a lot more exposure in pre-Crisis (pre-1986) days, since they were mainstays of the Superboy comics.

I too marked out when the Superman theme played. Other than that the single overriding thought I had about tonight was W...T...F? Since I never read the comics, only saw the movies (not the greatest of source materials I know but go with me) where the hell did they get the "Jorel wants Kalel to take over the world" theory? Poor Marlon Brando must be spinning in his grave. Wait, you say he's not dead? Sorry I thought The Island of Doctor Moreau would have killed him along with his career.

Anyway, was ANY of this foreshadowed in the comics, or was this simply a device made up for the show?

I only switched over when 24 went to commercial break (and I marked out for the Superman: The Movie music too), so I only caught about 3 minutes total. What is this "Jor-El wants Kal-El to take over the world" thing? I don't think this was ever in any of the various comic-book versions of the Jor-El story.

I'm a huge Superman fan, although not the best source of Superman history. I've read comics and stuff in the past, and to my knowledge Jor-El never sent this message to Kal-El. It wouldn't surprise me if they just pulled it out of their asses. They've taken plenty of liberties with Superman history already.

The only thing I can think of is that there was some sort of glitch in the translation and that "rule" should've been translated as "aid". The rest the message seems to insinuate that we are faulty as a race and need all the help we can get.

IF the message was translated properly, the only thing I can think of is that they use this as some sort of grand decision making process for Clark that goes the rest of the season. Clark gets all quiet and forlorn as he thinks about what the message means to him. Lex starts to feel alienated from his only friend who seems to be withdrawing from him. Lex turns full bore rudo heel (wrestling term, but apropo) and offering his good friend Clark this one last chance to ride shotgun on the Lex Express (dammit, did it again). Clark sees the light and refuses, making Lex an embittered dick toward the whole town and making him the lovely antagonist we all know and love.

Basically, I have no idea why they did this, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

I loved tonight's episode. Just made me wish for them to turn this thing into a movie even more when they played that damn song. I hate it when they do a episode this good that gets me all ready for the next episode and then there isn't a new episode next week. Damn, I just really wanna see these characters in the Superman-era universe one day.
