Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Still trying to download his I quit match with Magnu TA and I was wondering if I should actively seek out other Blanchard matches, or if I should look elsewhere. I don't know much about old school NWA so don't flae e please.
Guest Jimmy Saint Report post Posted January 29, 2003 The series with Eric Embry are awesome early 80's match ups. Embry plays the babyface who just won't give up while Tully has fun beating the hell out of him.
Guest tank_abbott Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Check out www.kayfabememories.com and seek out the NWA and Southeastern Promotions in the message board areas. Tully/ Arn Tully/Gino
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Tully was a good worker and a great heel. Search out his tag work with Arn Anderson and his US Title reign in the NWA highlighted by the feuds with Magnum TA and Ricky Steamboat.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted January 29, 2003 He was one of the greatest performers of all time, both in the ring, and out, period.
Guest Tim Cooke Report post Posted January 29, 2003 The best match I have seen that shows the best of Tully is the 3/27/88 Tully/Arn v Windham/Luger Clash I match. It features: - a dynamic crowd - two face in peril segments, both with great heat - good face work by Windham and Luger and good heel work by Anderson and Blanchard - a satisfying title change, even for heel fans It's the best example of a Tully Blanchard match that has all the roles he played well. Ditto for Arn. Ditto for Luger. That Barry fella has been in a couple more great matches though. Tim
Guest Slingshot Suplex Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Tully's wars with Dusty and Magnum are legendary. The guy wasn't particularly big but his character was so vicious and underhanded, at one point,he may have been the most hated man in wrestling.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 I was always a big Tully mark ... he just seemed to understand how to get heel heat without making the face look bad, or relying on being the "cool heel". Plus, like everyone else has said, great worker, great talker, could brawl or wrestle. And why has no one stolen the slingshot suplex as a move yet?!? Guest Downhome Report post Posted January 29, 2003 And why has no one stolen the slingshot suplex as a move yet?!? I wish to God that I had an answer, I'm the biggest mark for that move ever, really, I am.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted January 29, 2003 As you can see in my sig, I write for the SWF down at the bottom of the board. My character Frost does indeed use the slingshot suplex as part of his regular moveset. I put it in because of Tully and because no one uses it anymore. I also use a heart punch as a set up move. EL DANDY~! 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2003 Tully was one of the staples of the Horsemen. When he and Arn tagged, it was like watching poetry in motion. Those guys were just AWESOME heels. Also, his match with Magnum TA is absolutely brutal from the clips I've seen, and I can't wait to see it in full. Aside from a couple matches with Shane Douglas...YOU know the one...he's a great worker, a great heel, and respected every one. He was one of the best. Both he and Magnum came out looking like tough mmofos. I also just found out how good he was at putting a match together.

The match built with Cornette and Dillon both cheating for their teams at any oppurtunity. Lots of near falls that the crowd ate up. I know the title didnt change hands, so Im thinking it was a Double DQ finish. It had to go about 25 min.
