John Maurinaitis, the former Johnny Ace, has reportedly been working againt the push of Matt Hardy.

Ace apparently feels that Matt is still getting face heat from teenage girls and will never get true heel heat. It was Ace who convinced Vince McMahon to put Albert in Matt’s place earlier this year in the failed push against Rey Mysterio.

Paul Heyman continues to support Matt as a heel, and in particular his Mattitude character.

However if Ace gets his way, Matt will turn face again in the near future and cater to the same fanbase he had as part of the Hardy Boyz team.

That is absolutely absurd. Matt Hardy went in most of our eyes from someone you could give two shits about to a potential star. He brought his own ideas and character to the table and is one of the more entertaining people on Smackdown.

Ace's logic is ridiculous and I could see Heyman getting suspended again for lashing out at this moron about Matt.

Thoughts?

Yeah I just read that...

It is absolutely fucking ridiculous... and I really don't know how I can describe it other that that

It seems to me like any writer in the WWE is revolting against any ideas Heyman has. I don't know the general concensus obout him backstage, but he seems to be getting shit on lately.

Ok, since I can already see this degenerating into a VERY negative thread about WWE's incompetance, let me try and steer it a different direction.

If you were forced to follow Ace's wishes and turn Matt back into a face, how would you do it without A) killing his heat and B) getting rid of the entire Mattitude gimmick?

I'll try and add an idea tomorrow. (It's late here and it'd probably suck at this late hour.)

btw, yes, it is complete bullshit on Ace's part if Observer is right. WWE needs any and all over wrestlers it can get right now. I'd like to think that someone writing the shows knows this and can overlook political agendas.

It just doesn't make sense... I look at Matt Hardy and I see a very good worker, with a very bankable gimmick... and as far as I know, he is a very well liked and respected person in the locker room (credit EWR) so what is the logic in trying to bury him?

Of course... it's the WWE we're talking about... and not only that, it's the wrestling business period, so it's not all that shocking

Johnny Ace is a piece of shit. It saddens me to know that this is the guy that will take over for Jim Ross when he retires.

******POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR SOME******

Seeing as how the Albert push continues this week on Smackdown, I see a lot oging wrong and things are obviously not in Heyman's control on Smackdown. I hope this isn't a sign of this once great show degrading to RAW levels.

The show hasn't aired yet though so it may not be an A-Train push. It depends on how big of a deal the announcers make his victory out to be. It could be blown off like a Nunzio/Crash match is in which case it is merely a normal match with an ending most people don't like. If they hype up how big of a victory it is for A-Train, then we may be in for another A-Train push.

But we won't know until it airs. (For a flip side example, RVD beat Jeff Hardy but it wasn't meant as a push for RVD...it was just a match.)

EDIT: Good idea Dan. Thanks for pointing it out.

Anyone know how long this "suspension" is supposed to last?

You and I both might want to change our posts to include a minor spoiler warning, on second thought.

RVD was the more over and higher on the card wrestler in that case. He should have gone over in the fan's eyes as well.

Do teenage girls still like Matt Hardy? All the support I've seen him get in the crowds has come from guys. And even if Ace is right about Matt not being able to receive real heel heat, has Phat Albert fared any better looking the way he does?

NO!

NO NO NO!

If Mattitude were to die, I... I don't know what I'd do!

The hoss love has seriously gotten out of hand. I'm starting to become nearly depressed at the bad booking here lately.

... If Mattitude dies, I will debut my new catchphrase... "FUCK JOHNNY ACE."

LOL!!!!

You've just given Matt Hardy a built-in catchphrase should Mattitude fade away.

And in response to Dan talking about RVD, you are right. He was over and expected to win by everyone. The point I was making was that it was a meaningless match. It was just the first example that came to mind. Same rule applies to the aforementioned match coming up on Thursday. It could just be meaningless depending on how the announcers play it up.

Sounds like Johnny Ace should be getting just has much criticism here than Gerwitz or anyone else.

Your Answer:

Cole - "A Train with a BIG WIN!"

Tazz - "..GREAT WIN for the A Train"

Cole - "The A Train is STRORMING down the tracks, BUILDING UP MOMENTUM here on Smackdown!"

You Decide!

This is Bullshit. I'll be the first to admit, Matt Hardy isn't the greatest worker. But Damn, He has improved a ton since he got away from The Hardy Boys.

It seems like the Male Fans have started getting behind Matt, while those silly Female Teenage Hardy girls are the one's giving him heat with their "We Want Jeff" Chants.

It's kind of like HBK 96', the Male Fans are sick of the Pretty boy crap, and want to cheer more of a "Real" character. Same can be said for the way people turned on The Rock for Brock Lesnar.

There is almost a Revolution going on now. People don't want Goofy Characters, people don't want, over the top, out of this world, Storylines.

People want to be Entertained by WRESTLING. People want either Comedy or Badass Characters right now.

Matt Hardy could be a little of both if given the right Push.

Wake up Johnny Ace!

It's not 1993..

Well, Johnny is right on the dot here folks. Matt does not get a great deal of heel heat. Not to say that he's getting no reaction at all, far from it. But I never get the sense that fans hate Matt because quite frankly, they don't care about Shannon Moore and don't have a real problem with Matt abusing him. I think turning Matt face and keeping almost every aspect of the character the way it is would get both Matt and the WWE the better results.

Guest bob_barron

He got a 'shut the fuck up chant' at Madison Square Garden- I think that's pretty good heel heat right there.

He would probably also get more heat if he ya' know- won matches. If they actually gave him a push (like say having defeat and injure Rey Mysterio) then I think the fans would truly start to hate him.

Guest MarvinisaLunatic

On the tune of Matt Hardy..he could turn face and it could be Mattitude version 2 - this time with TWICE the Mattitude!

Guest Goodear

I don't know Bob. I think Cena gets more heel heat (but not more heat) than Matt does and wins just about as often. I honestly think the majority of the people want to cheer for Matt right now.

I agree with you Bob. Good character is fine, but in order to be accepted as a heel, he needs to be a threat to win. Even if it's through cheating like mad. Right now he just looks like an incompetent who is high on himself.

Why push Albert, then?

Guest Goodear

I guess if you're for turning Matt face (like Ace is) you don't want to make it harder for the turn to work by having him injure someone like Rey. I can't figure out what the hell they are trying to accomplish with Albert with their "Push him against Rey Mysterio only" policy.

Guest AndrewTS
Posted

Well, if they'd done it in the first place, it would have been a good way with Matt's promos to cement him as a heel. I'd imagine a long-time face wrestler who is over mainly for his matches would always be similarly difficult to turn heel. Same would go for RVD, who was still cheered as a heel in both WWE and ECW. In those cases, you need to give them something pretty big to try to turn the crowd on them.
