Well...Shit why not just put Disturbed, Slayer and Pantera on the bill and have one big Metal orgy.

Slayer would run Metallica off the stage for one. Granted, thats not a hard thing to do at this point. I doubt you'll ever see Metallica anywhere near a Slayer show, they'd get massacred by the band and by their fans.

I also question putting Disturbed in anything that could be considered a metal orgy. They're a decent pop metal act, catchy songs, no lasting appeal though.

WTF is Limp Bizkit doign there? I thought Wes Borland left to go use his guitar skillz (I use the term loosely) for good instead of evil/wussiness...?!

If they had Maiden playing this show my head would explode (in a good way)

We have to represent the modern era...and well what else is there? and besides...

Ozzy Loves the Fuck outta them...so they got the biggest blessing imaginable.

I'll make a true, unbiased judgement of which band is better live (Slayer or Metallica) after I see Metallica this summer.

I've seen Slayer twice. They didn't change the setlist for EITHER show. And I saw the band once in '01, then again in '02. Same setlist, same songs, just different venue and a different tour (in '01, it was the Extreme Steel Tour; in '02, it was the H82K2 tour). Incredibly sloppy (Kerry fucked up a whole lot), and Tom's vocals have gotten increasingly WORSE over the years.

Also, I'm sorry to say this, but Slayer would not run Metallica off the stage. Nor would Metallica run Slayer off the stage. Both bands helped kickstart the Bay Area scene, and know they appeal to slightly different crowds. If they were to be on the same tour, you would have an orgasmic metal experience. Well, I would anyways.

redbaron, replace Mudvayne with a talented hard rock/nu-metal band, like Disturbed or System Of A Down, and you'd have a GREAT fucking show.

Using the line-up I have just created (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Shadows Fall, Down, SOAD), I'll say my ideal play order, from opener to closer:

Down

Shadows Fall

System Of A Down

Iron Maiden

Metallica

Of course, this show would be about 5-6 hours, maybe even 7 or 8, but it would own so much ass.

......SO MUCH ass...

Humbug.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed

Nasum

Morbid Angel

Dying Fetus

Slayer

There's a face-ripping good time.

Corey, did you take a shot to the head when you saw Slayer? When I did, everything was DEAD-ON. They were unbelievably tight.

Maybe Kerry just called it in both times they came to Worcester. Of course, at the speed they play at, I'm not REALLY faulting the guy for messing up. When every song is incredibly fast, it's hard not to have a mistake here and there. Hell, I fuck up just jamming my own originals all the time, so no fault there at all.

Saw Slayer three times...Each time its getting worse and worse for them...just like their albums...

Hell you can call them the lesser equivilent of Metallica, and are getting shittier every year.

And no...I'd rather see Mudvayne over SOAD any day of the week...

Well I've seen Metallica and Slayer a few times a piece and yeah, I can see how one would not enjoy the Slayer experience. When they're on, it's pretty damn sweet, but if it's off, God help us all. Kerry was quasi sloppy at one of their shows, but he made up for it by puking a lot on the front row. Tremendous.

I'd keep SOAD off the ultimo metal tour, namely cause I think they're not really a metal band. They like the Deftones tend to do whatever they want, so I think they'd just be a bit out of place is all. Fuck it, stick Vader's old crazy ass on there and have a blast. Something Max Cavalera related too, Soulfly isn't the greatest band ever admittedly but nothing made me mark out bigger than Max stopping in the middle of Back The Primitive and slamming into Territory. That is classic.

Slayer seems great both timeS I saw them, though the two times were pretty close, on the same tour and all, with American Head Charge. Has anyone ever heard of them? my best friend's cousin is the bassist for them..I think they have a pretty tight sound, but I dunno...

AHC blow hard. Tell your cousin's friend that his band sucks more ass then fucking LIMP BIZKIT (because at least Bizkit is in the so-bad-it's-good category...IMO, anyways).

Guest saturnmark4life

I'll say this, AHC are far from my favourite band, but they are the best opening act i've ever seen. And it's not easy to open for rammstein. I mean, they didn't touch rammstein, but they certainly can't be compared to shit like limp bizkit. As for creed, I prefer them to all the nu metal stuff because of the sheer comic value.

Guest Choken One

Umm...You're quite the idiot.

Creed is Nu-Metal? There is ZERO resemblence of NU-METAL in creed...

Creed is straight out Rock music...

I think Saturnmark just mean that he liked Creed better than the nu-metal genre, not that Creed was nu-metal in any way.

Guest CoreyLazarus416

Yeah, Choken, saturnmark is saying "Creed > nu-metal."

As for why I hate AHC:

They're bland. They offer very little, if anything, to differ themselves from the rest of the nu-metal genre, and all of their songs are following a poor song formula. No actual thought seems to be put into the lyrics, the vocalist is atrocious, and the music itself is blander than stock music. And yet they get mainstream radio airplay while my beloved Shadows Fall, who WILL be fucking HUGE one day (I'm talking Metallica 1991-level huge), only gets airplay on public access metal shows and college stations.

AHC does indeed suck. Mainly because there's a guy in the band called Martin Cock, but especially because all their songs do indeed SUCK.

I mis-read his comments...

Shadows Fall should be on the radio right now. I'm not completely familiar with all of their stuff, but The Art of Balance cd was all kinds of radio friendly. Not vulgar, simple lyrics to pick out, catchy riffs, good solos...

:firedevil: Still mediocre over all, but it would be a welcome change over the radio.

Shadows...Fall...MEDIOCRE?!

**kills the grind freak for not appreciation anything that takes more than speed to play**

Which will be praised after the next album, which they will be following SOAD footsteps

I don't think AHC are a great band by any means, and I wouldn't buy their stuff, but live they quite a sight.

Oh and I HAVE to stress that I don't like creed, it's just that they are bad in a funny way. And yeah, I wasn't associating them with nu metal.

Hey, Mediocre's usually a glowing recommendation from me. I'm not totally familiar with their stuff, as I've only heard their The Art of Balance release, which is totally solid, with some excellent riffs. Although when I was listening to the thing, I kept thinking in my head things like "Ok, that sounds like old Metallica...now it's Anthrax..now Megadeth...groove breakdown, ok.." Nothing stuck out to me as anything I couldn't find from one of those artists. The hardcore influence was nice, but overall, it was just kind of there for me.

The title track was basically Fade to Black, only it was called The Art of Balance. Thus, I hated it.

The Floyd cover at the end was also an absolute hatchet job.

Edit: Corey, you ever heard Unearth? They're from Mass, so I figured you might have. I've heard a couple tracks off of Endless, and they struck me as Shadows Fall, only sicker. Killer breakdowns.

Guest CoreyLazarus416

Yeah,. I'm not too much of a fan of Unearth though. Too generic death for me.

Actually...I thought the Pink Floyd cover was one of their best songs...

Oh man, the unneccessary guitar chugs totally turned me off to it.
