Shadows Fall is quasi decent, but yeah, they need a lil originality here and there. Should be fun live though.

...what isn't original about them? They're blending the sounds of the BHC and Gothenburg scenes with the style of the Bay Area thrash scene of the early 80's. How many other bands do that?

They do sound ALOT like Pre-Black Album Metallica though.

Because that's a primary influence. But it's still just different enough to be original.

Nu-Metal is moot. The most talented 'metal' band of the last five years has allready been forced to break up due to record-exec incompetence. That band was, of course, Relative Ash. Easily the best band of the nu-metal epoch, and still, in death, infinitely better than 95% of popular/not popular bands playing today.

Okay, so the lineup is...

Suckvayne

LiN*SYNC Park

Shrimp Dikzit

Man, those insulting wordplays are just not good at all. I felt this so strongly I posted about it, c'mon!

Tour thoughts: Eh.

I dunno, Snuff. I mean, Sugarcoma and Lost Prophets are pretty good...

And sub_an, my jokes are awful. You will realize this as a truth. I have an inherited sense of awful humor.

I just hear too much Metallica in them, like way too much. It's one thing to be inspired by a band, it's another to sound far too much like them and they sound far too much like them to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I dislike them, I find them pretty decent and the album I've been able to find is pretty good, and from the sounds of it they're a guaranteed good live act. I just think they borrow a bit too much from Metallica.

My sentiments exactly. The only cd of theirs I've heard is The Art of Balance and it was basically Shadowtallica. The breakdowns and hardcore influence brought it above that level, but if they don't wow me live, then I dunno...

Sugarcoma? Lostprophets? Im gonna have to go with 'no' here....no better band of the period than Relative Ash.

Agent, you might like Somber Eyes To The Sky then. It's a more straightforward death album, growls and all. Not as much classical breakdowns either (only in "To Ashes," which is a song also on Of One Blood).

snuff, ever heard Sugarcoma? They're kinda crappy at first, but they've grown on me.

...WHAT GOES 'ROUND...

Growls eh? hmm.

I heard that Sugarcoma track. Can't say I liked it, because I didn't.

Anyone here ever listen to Godflesh? They've been around since the late 80's, but they're basically what most of the nu metal genre's attempting to sound like, I think. Very simple riffs, variation in the vocals, and darker subject matter. I haven't heard a single song of theirs involving a solo, either. I kind of dig it though, even if they're a bit repetitive. Check out Pure, or Merciless. Both good cds.

Yeah, they don't light up my life or anything, but I like the vocals a lot.

Love Godflesh. Streetcleaner is an absolute classic. Too bad they broke up last year.

Really? Wow. They'd been going strong since, what? 87?

The bassist (G.C. Green) left so Justin Broadrick called it quits. Do a search for there site. The have live tracks, unreleased tracks, and alternate tracks to d/l. Check out Head of David and the Scum album from Naplam Death if your a fan of Broadricks.

I would LOVE for that tour to come down here. That'd be fuckin' MAD. I missed Metallica when there were down here like 6 years ago and I was absolutely devo. Limp Bizkit would put on a pretty cool live show I reckon and I don't mind Chocolate Starfish... Linkin Park are mad as, I don't understand why you fools don't like them. Is it because they have mainstream acceptance?? That just shows their music has widespread appeal. I like the hard rock genre (other CDs in current rotation are Saliva, Staind, Rage Against the Machine, Puddle of Mudd) and I reckon these bands together would own in a show.

Oh and joy be, fellow UK twats, looks like we'll get our own version of this crapfest at reading this year, as metallica are confirmed and limp bizkit and linkin park are 'strong rumours'. Dear GOD, I don't think I'm going to bother with it this year. Pretty much the only bands I'm interested in seeing that I haven't already are the butthole surfers, tool and the melvins. Tool are the only band that even remotely have a chance of coming over here anytime soon. FUCK. I'd bash nanks' taste in music but I'm tired.

Mainstream acceptance has nothing to do with why I despise Linkin Park. They're horribly untalented. Both vocalists are wretched, they have no useful or even catchy riffs, the lyrics are bland and vague, and the dj shit is just annoying. Awful, awful band.

Chester Bennington's untalented now?? Are you mental??? How could you possibly believe that? I can understand not being overly enamoured with Mike Shinoda's MCing, although I don't mind it. But Chester has awesome range as a vocalist, he's just mad. If you're saying all he can do is scream then listen to My December. Joe Hahn's a pretty cool DJ, and they probably went too far with the DJing in Reanimation, but otherwise I reckon it just gives the music something a bit different.

Chester is Justin Timberlake with a wifebeater and JNCO's. That's all. Instead of shopping at Gap, he shops at Hot Topic. No other difference between Chester and Justin Timberlake.

Linkin Park are proof positive that the blend of rap/rock and bubblegum pop is marketable. Whereas Avril Lavigne is a female pop singer marketed towards pop/punkers, Linkin Park are a fucking BOY-BAND marketed towards nu-metallers.

Linkin Park's lyrics are so vague and poorly written it isn't funny. "I tried so hard to lose it all / But in the end it doesn't even matter." Anybody that passed the 7th grade could write equal or better lyrics. Fuck, songs I wrote in 7th grade are 100x better than ANY Linkin Park song to date (and all I practically listened to was RATM and Limp Bizkit in 7th grade).

Linkin Park are a disgrace to the music industry. I don't hate them because they're mainstream, or even because they're pop-ish (fuck, I like MICHAEL JACKSON and BILLY JOEL as well as Exodus and Skinless). It's because they're untalented fucks that just happened to have a good manager that has an obvious degree in marketing.

Awesome range indeed. Whining, and...whining.

Anyone can SCREAM long and loud...It's not THAT hard...LP offers nothing to Music...expecting more polluted mainifested Crap. However, I will say they make good videos that compenstate for the shittiness of the music but not enough...And my god look at those atrocious lyrics...

From One Step Closer

"Everything you say to me

Take's me one step closer to the edge

And I'm about to break

I need a little room to pray

'Cause I'm one step closer to the edge

And I'm about to break

Everything you say to me

Take's me one step closer to the edge

And I'm about to break

I need a little room to pray

'Cause I'm one step closer to the edge

And I'm about to

BREAK (echo)

Shut up when I'm talking to you!

Shut up!

Shut up!

Shut up!

Shut up when I'm talking to you!

Shut up!

Shut up!

Shut up!

Shut ... UP!

I'm about to break"

from By Myself

"What do I do to ignore them behind me?

Do I follow my instincts blindly?

Do I hide my pride from these bad dreams

And give in to sad thoughts that are maddening?

Do I sit here and try to stand it?

Or do I try to catch them red-handed?

Do I trust some and get fooled by phoniness,

Or do I trust nobody and live in loneliness?

Because I can't hold on when I'm stretched so thin

I make the right moves but I'm lost within

I put on my daily façade but then

I just end up getting hurt again

By myself (Myself)"

from In The End

"I tried so hard

And got so far

But in the end

It doesn't even matter

I had to fall

To lose it all

But in the end

It doesn't even matter

One thing, I don't know why"

from a place for my head

"I watch how the moon sits in the sky

On a dark night shining with the light from the sun

The sun doesn't give light to the moon

Assuming the moon's going to owe it one

It makes me think of how you act to me

You do favors and then rapidly

You just turn around and start asking me about

Things you want back from me"

I can't even look at these any more...THESE ARE GOOD LYRICS? They sound like a 14 year old that just broke up his little crush.

Chester is a Pussy.

I do give LP one credit...

Points of Authority music video is amazing. The song sucks, but the animation is done very well. I mean its no Tool music video but still....

To be honest, (can't really believe I'm discussing it) but I think the vid for 'papercut' was better. Heh.

Oh and one difference between Justin and anyone from linkin park is that Justin FUCKING RULES.

My sis is going to the tour...when I heard of the artists performing, I was sickened. You'd think Metallica would ask real bands to play. Oh well.
