Guest Karnage Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Well the skills competition was on yesterday and they are going back to the East VS West format rather than the crappy North America VS The World. Anyone watched the skills comp. or young guns game yesterday or plan on watching the All-Star game today?
Guest MaxPower27 Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Watched both yesterday. Pretty good Young Stars game, and the skills comp was bland, I thought, but overall it was an enjoyable few hours before Velocity. I'm definetly watching the All-Star game, but I'll get bored around the 2nd period, when the score is 23-19 and probably turn it off.
Guest treble charged Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 There's no Leafs in the game this year to hold my attention (both Belfour and Sundin declined due to injury), but I'll probably watch anyway. There are worse ways to kill an afternoon.
Guest Bricks Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 They should've put Ilya Kovulchuk in the game... It was pretty funny how he wouldn't pass or get off the ice in last year's YoungStars game.
Guest treble charged Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Well, Dany Heatley's having a good game so far.
Agent_Bond34 Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Yeah he is, and he has scored all 4 of the goals for the East so far.
Guest treble charged Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 That was pretty damned entertaining, and it may be enough to get me to change my mind regarding shootouts.
Guest Flyboy Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 That was a great game, and I don't even like hockey.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 That was one of the best hockey games I've seen in a while. Lalime and Turco were excellent in net in the third period.
Guest Bricks Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Wow! That was one of the most entertaining hockey games I've ever seen. Not just All-Star games, but just a regular game. I think they probably should just add the shootout for the regular season. And yeah, Dany Heatley was awesome!
Guest RepoMan Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I like having a shootout for a meaningless all-star game, but I'd hate to see it in the regualar season. It be like deciding a basketball game with a 3-pt contest. With 82 games in the regular season, it's not the end of the world to have a few ties.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Dammit, and I just HAD to forget to watch it.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 I remember Heatley when he played at Wisconsin. No shootouts in the regular season and especially not the playoffs. It seemed like they wanted to get the shootout over has fast as possible. Mario Lemieux called Marian Gaborik one of the best 5 players in the league. That's huge praise, and overall talent he might be right.
