I love Pacino but I give De Niro the nod for Goodfellas, Wag The Dog and Casino which are 3 of my favorite movies.

I gotta go with Bobby D as well...as a whole I just like his work better.

Have to go with Pacino. Neither really play much outside of their established roles, but I like Pacino's act a bit better. Less grating.

DeNiro, but I love both.

Both have basically done the same act over their career, but i personally think DeNiro over his career has been slightly more daring in his role selection.

Even though his recent forays into comedy have frightened me, I'll still give the nod to Deniro.

DeNiro hasn't done anything that really impressed me since Goodfellas.

But Goodfellas, Mean Streets, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, King of Comedy, The Deer Hunter, and Godfather II.

Pacino pretty easily for me.. the clinchers are his performances in Serpico and Godfather I and II

Deniro is an actor that is great and one of my favs, but IMO Pacino is a few notches ahead

My vote goes to Pacino, but that does not mean DeNiro isn't awesome as well. I just happen to prefer Pacino

Pacino. De Niro has been a parody of himself in his last few roles.

and pacino hasn't been a parody of himself for the last twelve years?

If you go all the way back to the beginning, I can remember Scarface and the Godfather series, Deniro, you got Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, Deer Hunter...I love em both, but it's Deniro

Pacino:

The Godfather Series

Serpico

Dog Day Afternoon

Scarface

Carlito's Way

Heat

The Insider

Insomnia

Scent of a Woman

GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS~!

Donnie Brasco

Any Given Sunday

I hold no particular actor allegiances, but all of these have made it into my rather limited DVD collection. Definately says something about ole' Al.

De Niro is my pick.

Pacino is great, but for the past few movies, his acting has either been talking fastor screaming. De Niro is just, IMO, better.

DeNiro.

While I think both of them are self parody’s of themselves along with having lost a stpe or two in their acting abilities, DeNiro has been able to somewhat stay away from the roles that would have typecast him whereas Pacino seems content with picking the roles of a raving lunatic who always has some kind of deal going on off on the side.

Both men have been very lacking over the last decade or so in their roles when compared to their past performances.

It's close, as I love MOST of the films with either guy, but I give the nod to DeNiro for this line right here...

..."I've got nipples Greg, could you milk me?".

That might be my favorite comedic line in the history of film.

At what point in his career did he become "New Pacino"?

you know what i mean- the raspy, cigarette ravaged voice, the chaotic overracting, etc?

Watch one of his earlier performances like GF or dog Day Afternoon, then watch GF # (bua ha ha ha) or Heat, you'll see a distinct difference. Can anyone pinpoint where the metamorphisis occurred? I'm guessing Author! Author! but not positive.

Pacino hasn't been good since Serpico and DeNiro has been pumping out pointless cinematic excrement since Raging Bull. Is there a neither option?

right...cause god knows 'goodfellas', 'the king of comedy' & 'heat' were all pointless cinematic excrement.
