If I recall, the WWF's most profitable year in terms of merchandising, gate, ratings, and buyrates was 1999.

1999 was only their most successful year if believe the Vince Russo history of pro wrestling (where TV ratings are the only thing that matters). The then WWF grossed about 295 million in 1999. In 2000 they did over 450, while in the much-maligned 2001 they still did over 400.
